Extremely Disappointing Stay – Far Below Five-Star Standards
Unfortunately, our recent stay was extremely disappointing and fell far short of the five-star experience advertised. Check-in and Room Issues: Check-in was poor, with little to no information provided beyond a quick gesture towards a map. The beds in our room were not standard double beds and were too small for two adults, forcing us to share beds with our children for the duration of our stay. When we raised this with concierge, we were met with a dismissive and inappropriate comment suggesting we should have checked bed sizes ourselves—an unreasonable response for a hotel of this supposed standard. Cleanliness and Hygiene: There was visible mould in our shower, and our friends’ pull-out sofa bed mattress also had mould (photos available). When reported, the hotel’s solution was to place another mattress directly on top of the mouldy one rather than properly addressing the issue. Food Safety and Hygiene Concerns: We witnessed multiple worrying practices, including drinks being served in visibly used glasses that were simply rinsed under tap water, dirty plates being wiped with towels and reused, and toilet mop water being emptied into a drain beside the busy pool area. Food safety was also a concern—chicken was served pink, steaks were overcooked and inedible, and buffet food was consistently cold. Food & Beverage Service: Service was disorganised, with meals arriving at different times instead of together. Plates and unfinished drinks were removed while others were still eating. Wine service was particularly poor: limited availability, red wine served ice cold, and different wines repeatedly mixed in the same glass. Dining Organisation and Atmosphere: Despite booking restaurants in advance, we were rarely seated at our reserved time until the 11th night. We often waited 15+ minutes to be acknowledged, once were not booked at all, and on one occasion waited over an hour and a half. Evenings lacked atmosphere, and several times there was nowhere to sit, forcing us back to our room. Staff Attitude: We experienced eye-rolling from staff when requesting basic alternatives, such as a paper menu instead of a QR code or draft beer instead of canned drinks. Facilities and Availability: Food frequently ran out well before advertised closing times, sunbeds were reserved early, towels were unavailable on occasion, and outdoor seating was closed during lunch despite demand. Waiver Incident: Most concerning was being asked to sign documents without explanation when offered a Bali bed/Oasis as a goodwill gesture. It was later claimed this constituted full compensation, despite no such explanation being given. When we attempted to retrieve the signed documents, staff refused, and responsibility was placed back on us. We did not use the Oasis. Overall, this was a deeply frustrating experience that lacked basic hygiene, organisation, transparency, and customer care. We would not return and cannot recommend this hotel. Dreams don’t seem to care we have given them time to make things right and heard nothing!

Outstanding!
This was our 7th time visiting Dreams Onyx, Resort & spa. We continue to return, due to the amazing staff, wonderful food, cleanliness of the Resort, amazing beach and pools, super Relaxing during the day and so much fun in the evenings. We have always taken advantage of preferred club, as our Butler allows us to have a relaxing, fun and stress-free vacation.

A Favorite Resort We Keep Coming Back To
This was my second time staying here, and my parents have been coming for over 10 years, which really says it all. The Preferred Club made our stay feel extra special, and the staff consistently went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and taken care of. Everything was relaxing, well organized, and we can’t wait to return again.

Beautiful resort!
This resort is a beautiful resort to visit. It is located right next to the beach, where it is kept very clean by the resort staff. The onsite water park and lazy river are clean and fun to be in. My kids had a blast in them. Be careful not to run at the pool areas. They are very wet and slippery. I recommend adding rubber bumper guards on the edges of all the steps in the pool areas to prevent serious injuries from falls. The spa at the resort is gorgeous. The staff there really do work miracles in giving the best spa services. Food and drinks were excellent and delicious at all the restaurants. The Hibachi restaurant does a superb job in preparing your meal in front of you. Coco cafe serves some of the best coffee that is just as good as Starbucks, if not better. Ice cream shop next door also is also very good. I do however recommend that ALL food handlers wear gloves on both hands when handling food. With so many people at the resort, hand sanitizers need to be made mandatory to use upon entry to all restaurants and wherever food and drinks are being served. The rooms are very beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Everything in the room worked as intended: sinks, faucets, toilets, shower, tv, phone, and the A/C system. However, I do recommend adding more USB type A and C ports in the room. One set on each side of the bed is not enough. There should be one more near the tv area and one more by the sink area to charge newer models of electric razors that use USB charging ports. Noise level on the first floor gets a little high after other folks come back after a night of partying too hard. The resort staff go out of their way to accommodate the guests as much as possible. They deserve kudos for that. Check in and check out were easy and went without any problems. The entertainment at the resort is good, but not the greatest. The fire show is the best must see show to attend. Overall, an excellent resort to visit. Keep up the great service. Thank you to all for a good time!
