Service and food was well above average. Entertainment crew was good Vanilla Ice. Eddie, Orlando and Franklin on the preferred area was wonderful!

Very good choice for a Family Resort.
We just got back from our tip to Punta Cana and our stay at Dreams Onyx. Overall the resort was a great experience. The highlight is definitely the staff. They all worked very hard to make everyone's stay a wonderful experience. I have to give special credit to Dany. Dany is a server down at the beach (works around the bar connected to the towel hut). Dany was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Top notch service all day every day! I was there with my family (me, my wife, and two daughters 18 & 19). I have very sensitive skin and I'm susceptible to sun poisoning very easily. I was always looking for a shaded area close to a sunny area so I could be close to my family, while doing my best to be out of the sun. Dany took it upon himself to move 4 chairs to an area that would allow just that. He did this every morning reserving the seats for us. He also was very attentive to our needs. He kept our drinks full and constantly checked in us to make sure we didn't need anything. His work ethic was superior. He kept apologizing for the condition of the beach with all the sargassum. Unfortunately not a lot of people stayed at the beach last week while we were there due to the heavy amounts of vegetation on the beach, so few people got to experience the level of service Dany provides to this resort and it's customers. We spent a decent amount of time at the Preferred pool as well and the service there was very good. Always very welcoming and attentive to everyone's needs. The rooms were spacious and clean. Our housekeeper Olga did a great job with both our room and our daughter's room. Towels were refreshed every morning and the mini bar was always stocked. In some cases more than once a day. The food was OK. I wouldn't say great, but I wouldn't say they were bad. The only exception was the Italian restaurant. Unfortunately our meal there was less than desirable. If I were to rank the restaurants; Spice (Asian) would be our top choice, followed by the Ocean Grill, than Mecure (French), Cin-Cin (Mediterranean), Tamarindo (Mexican), Carnival (Buffet), then Capers (Italian). The resort is a family resort and most of the entertainment is geared towards younger kids. I would say this is the only thing lacking from the resort is more entertainment geared towards older teens and adults.

I normally don’t write trip reviews, after our recent family vacation to Dreams Onyx, I felt the need to share our experience..especially to highlight a few amazing staff members who truly went above and beyond. We travel as a family every year and had high hopes for this resort. The trip started off great: * Luis at check-in was friendly and welcoming, setting a positive tone right from the start. * Enolo also greeted us with a smile and gave great recommendations for restaurants. * Andy and Nathaniel from Amstar were incredibly helpful. Even when our excursion information was incorrect, they resolved the issue within minutes—fast, professional, and kind. And from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, Wagner, one of the Hospitality staff, was AMAZING. He was helpful, cheerful, and consistently provided excellent service. Truly a standout! Unfortunately, the overall service throughout the resort didn’t match these initial experiences. The majority of the staff came across as indifferent or even unfriendly. At times, we felt like we didn’t belong, which was incredibly disheartening. It wasn’t until after our stay that I read similar reviews and realized others had experienced the same disappointing service. That said, I want to take a moment to praise the staff members who made our stay better: * Christian, Rainier, Rosa, and the host at Mercure – They were warm, welcoming, and made us feel like valued guests. They laughed with us, joked with us, and provided amazing service. * Yeldri and Danny at Spice – Top-notch service and a great attitude. * The young lady bartender at Splash Lobby – The only bartender who consistently made a drink that tasted great. Her attention to detail was much appreciated. If more of the staff were like the ones mentioned above, Dreams Onyx could be an amazing vacation destination. I truly hope management recognizes these individuals and considers improvements in staff hospitality training. Thank you to those who made our trip memorable despite the challenges!

One of the best resorts we have been to!
My husband and I celebrated our 26th anniversary here. Everything was amazing! The restaurants, the service, the facilities just everything was perfect.
