  Incredible experience!

  Jaime Lagunas the pool concierge was so incredibly helpful and kind. He answered all our questions and made sure we always had everything we needed. The staff overall is so wonderful and I highly recommend!

  Beautiful resort!! Amazing staff.

  Beautiful resort! We enjoyed all the foods and different restaurants. All the staff were amazing. Room service was amazing. If I needed anything additional, my needs were met with a friendly smile and with urgency. All the pools were fantastic, and even tho it was a huge resort- it never seemed crowded. Everything was super clean. I do with the beach was cleaner, but other than that everything was superb. I know most people hate the weddings every night- but we enjoyed seeing and hearing it! It didn’t bother us one bit. If anything, all I kept thinking was “why didn’t I do this.” Because it’s so beautiful there! Loved this resort and would totally come back again.

  Won’t be going back.

  Dreams Playa Mujeres Golf & Spa Resort We made reservations for a king bed ocean view almost a year prior or more to our arrival. We were told they only had a room with double beds. Not accept. After some time the associate said they had a cancellation. We went to it and upon opening the door the mildew smell was overwhelming. We couldn’t stand the smell and refused the room. Finally after about 3 hours we finally got into another room. It did have a king bed, a sliver- view of the water and a smell of mildew but not as bad. So the first day, after flying and being tired, we got a substandard room. When one makes reservations, especially with a very large group of people( 150) who talk to each other I would really recommend you give them the best rooms possible. The food is really very low quality. All tastes the same. Not fresh or kept cold. First vacation my husband lost 5-pounds on. Got sick on something he ate. I’ve had stomach issues as well. Restrooms and showers need to be close to pools. People spend the day in the pools. Couldn’t find bathrooms and just gave up… so after drinking all day in the pools and never leaving them we know how they relieved themselves. GROSS. Staff was very friendly and grounds were kept very nice. Clean and trimmed.

  Horrible Experience

  A Deep Decline in Quality – Our Worst Dreams Stay Yet We have stayed at Dreams Resorts many times over the years and always had fantastic experiences—until now. Ever since Hyatt acquired the Dreams brand, the quality has noticeably and significantly declined. This trip, meant to celebrate my 40th birthday, turned into a frustrating, disappointing, and frankly upsetting experience. The One Positive: The rooms were clean and spacious, with no unpleasant smells other than a faint humidity that’s typical for tropical resorts. A few staff members went out of their way to be kind and helpful, but unfortunately, most seemed indifferent or burned out. Politeness now feels like the exception, not the rule. The Many, Many Problems: 1. No Poolside Food Service A major red flag. At any decent resort—especially one claiming five stars—food service by the pool is standard. Here, if you want to eat, you’ll need to walk a good distance to the buffet or wait in line at one of the small restaurants, which becomes difficult with 2 young children swimming and a husband who has to wear a t-shirt that has sleeves to enter. . It’s inconvenient, poorly managed, and completely out of sync with what guests expect. 2. Food Quality Was Shockingly Poor We have low expectations for all-inclusive food, but this still managed to fall far below even that bar. The seafood and hibachi were passable. Everything else? Bland, overcooked, or outright inedible. The Mexican restaurant was an embarrassment—especially coming from Los Angeles, where we know authentic Mexican food. Room service took 90+ minutes, and the alcohol? Basically juice with a splash of sugar. 3. Misleading Views and Dining Restrictions While the lobby boasts ocean views, none of the restaurants are located by the water. The buffet feels like a dimly lit basement. You aren’t allowed to take even a plate of fruit outside to enjoy the scenery. Why visit an oceanfront resort if you’re forced to dine indoors with no natural light or view? 4. Unsafe Water Slides and Splash Areas We chose this resort for the slides—and deeply regret it. Both of my daughters were injured within minutes. One received a large bruise from an exposed plastic structure in the splash zone. They refused to go back. It’s not just disappointing—it’s dangerous. 5. Dirty, Poorly Maintained Pools The "infinity pool" is a marketing gimmick. There’s no real ocean view—just bushes. Worse, the water was visibly dirty. Kids found feces in the pool more than once. Each morning the water was cloudy, and at one point, staff dumped powdered chlorine/some sort of chemical into the water while guests were swimming. My daughter had an immediate skin reaction. Absolutely negligent. 6. Misleading Timeshare Pitch The staff pitches a timeshare by promising access to “preferred” areas like the lazy river pool. Don’t fall for it. We walked in, tried the lazy river, and it was dirty, slow, and entirely forgettable. 7. Noise Every Night Every evening felt like a wedding reception right outside our room. Loud music blasted until 10 or 11 p.m., making it impossible to rest. This happened every single night. 8. Unsafe Excursion Booked Through Resort We booked a snorkeling tour to Isla Mujeres through the resort. The guide took us to a sunken ship site where my daughter was repeatedly slammed into metal by strong currents. This was absolutely not a safe or appropriate location for recreational snorkeling. Bottom Line: We used to love Dreams Resorts. They were our go-to for family trips, consistently offering comfort, safety, and fun. But since Hyatt’s takeover, that quality has evaporated. This latest trip felt like a poorly run imitation of what the brand once was. We deeply regret spending a milestone birthday here. If you want a true five-star experience with attentive service and thoughtful amenities, look elsewhere. Garza Blanca, for instance, continues to deliver in every way this resort failed. Playa Mujeres is a stunning area—quiet, safe, and full of potential. It’s unfortunate that this property completely fails to take advantage of that beauty. The location deserves far better than what Dreams is currently offering.

  An Honest Review - Read Before Booking

  We recently returned from a 10 day holiday at this resort and I aim to give an honest review of our experience: In short, it’s both good and bad……. After a short 30/40 minute transfer from the airport we arrived at a beautiful hotel is a very safe and secure location. We had adjoining rooms which were well appointed and comfortable. On waking up in the morning, the sea view that we had paid for was obscured by a building site that we were not informed about. Worse was to come! Despite responses from the management of the hotel to other tripadvisor reviews, I can confirm this hotel is a conveyor belt of weddings with multiple ceremonies occurring each day often taking over the public areas limiting access to the pool. It was evident that this is the main focus for the hotel at the detriment to ‘standard’ guests. Weddings and using common areas of the hotel would have been ok, however on the second night the noise and music was unbearable. WARNING: Avoid block 7 at all costs. Being British, I would normally suck it up and carry on, but it was turning what should have been a relaxing calm holiday into a stressful nightmare. In fairness, the staff (who were tremendous throughout) found us new rooms in block 8 that was far more relaxing and quiet. The restaurants were all good with Gaucho and the French restaurant being the pick of the bunch. Again the staff were excellent and could not do enough to ensure you had a pleasant meal. Special shout out to Oliver at Gaucho. His service was impeccable. The pool area, Unfortunately, you need to be up at 07:00hrs to grab a sunbed in your desired location, the water levels were a foot lower than what they should be meaning the advertised infinity pool was miraculously finite. Generally, the pools left a lot to be desired with the underwater lighting either loose or missing leaving exposed wires (see photos). WARNING: The upper pool floor is like razor blades so don’t be jumping in if you you want to keep your feet from being shredded. The pools are very loud with ‘repetitive entertainment’ around the lunchtime hours. To be clear the staff dealt with issues as best they could, but I would suggest management need to have a hard look at how this property is operated - review the standards and maintenance (there was workmen with pneumatic hammer drills digging up the concrete open area, so when we’d had enough of the entertainment noise we had this to contend with) Overall, the holiday was ok, but not the 5 star resort I expected and I did not relax and chill out as I had hoped.
