Nice getaway!
It's a smaller resort which has a more intimate feel but with all the bells and whistles. Staff is really nice and attentive, beds are comfortable and the beach is pretty. Plenty of options for meals and no reservations needed. Only be aware of the "invitation" to visit other properties in exchange of some sort of gift. You will be held hostage for hours and the coupons have so many restrictions that they are worthless. Other than that wasted afternoon, I had a great vacation.

Friendly faces and incredible food
Esequiel was incredibly attentive and friendly, providing us with a great sample of sushi and appetizers and surprising us with several unique cocktails. He checked in often and created an excellent experience. His manager Antonio made sure we had a table to accommodate our whole group and we couldn’t wait to come back a second time. Absolutely one of the highlights of the trip. The food was the best in the resort, offering a wide array of Asian cuisine

Just the two of us
My husband and I visited for five days and had a great time. This is an overview of what we observed. There were so many weddings—this place definitely knows how to do weddings. There were also a lot of young kids, probably age six and under. This didn’t bother us since we have kids of our own (and these were not our kids 😄). No one was rowdy or out of control—maybe because we didn’t stay up very late. Overall, the resort felt very mellow. We did the VIP check-in and were upsold a room, which we were fine with. We enjoyed it, especially the view. However, we were then handed off to a timeshare representative and invited to breakfast at their sister hotel… hard no. That was my least favorite part of the entire hotel experience. The spa was wonderful! Amiela, who gave me a hot stone massage, was excellent. Theresa assisted with the hydrotherapy. I had to leave hydrotherapy early to make my massage appointment, and they were kind enough to invite me back the next day to finish it—just lovely. All the drinks were great. The guys at the Barracuda bar were a blast (though we wished the swings were hung a little higher). Clever and Enrique at the lobby bar were our favorites—homeboys can remember your name and your drink after just one visit. The food was good. Since we were “VIP,” we could eat breakfast at the Seaside Grill, which was much more our speed. We walked into the buffet once and immediately walked back out. The food wasn’t appealing, the lighting was artificially bright, and it was too loud. Watching the sun rise while having breakfast and coffee at Seaside was a perfect way to start the day. Also, VIP tip, get your coffee at the VIP lounge.

Wonderful Three-Generation Holiday Week
We were a group of 7 with 6 adults and one 2.5 year old in 3 preferred rooms. As you can see from the picture from the balcony of 1551, the resort is lovely and we found the rooms clean and comfortable. Jarwmy kept our room spotless. We flew Sunwing from Toronto and waited an hour for our bags then had a 35 minute transit to the resort. Check in was smooth and we ate from the preferred food bar while we waited. The rooms have limited space for clothes so pack light or set your suitcase up on a stand. Make sure you ask for no perfumes or aromatherapy if you hate or are sensitive to scents. We rented a cabana near the kid's pool. Eric Ramirez, the Pool Concierge, arranged it when we arrived. He was very helpful all week. All the staff at the cabana were super. Great bar service! We saved seats at the beach at sunrise and spent the morning there then enjoyed the cabana till 5. Eric always brought us 2 extra lawn chairs. We paid by the week so had a 20 percent reduction on the usual 100 US per day. We found this really worthwhile as it gave us a home base and a great napping place. We tried every restaurant. We got seated right away by going at 6 pm. The food was all pleasant with good service but few dishes stood out. The soups seemed uniformly salty. Every waiter and host we encountered was super friendly. The seaweed on the beach was no problem and almost gone by day 3. We swam a bit every day but it was a cold week so less than usual. We enjoyed the weddings we saw and everything was quiet by 11 pm. This is my 3rd time here and I was totally happy with the resort, rooms and service. We don't drink much but liked having the better whiskies at the preferred lounge. Room service was great! We ordered something twice a day as the little one was always hungry and ditched took about 45 minutes, was tasty and the service very friendly. We ate at the Seaside for breakfast 3 times and had great service from the fellow in the photo whose name escapes me. We also liked the buffet for breakfast. It is too bad the buffet does not have a patio but you can just ask for a take out plate and eat outside. We were tired in the evenings but really enjoyed the man who sang in the lobby Sunday night. We did the free hydrotherapy that came with Sunwing preferred. It was a bit cold this week but still refreshing. One perpsn had an amazing massage and facial at the spa. Two of our group tried the Aztec CBD ceremony and found it very helpful and soothing. The staff were great with the little one. Always smiling and helpful. She played in the baby room at the Club one windy day and liked it but was too little for the club. We saw some guests sad it was a bit cool but we made the best of it and it sure beat minus 17 back home:) We will be back!
