Celiac safe accommodations
We have a child with Celiac disease and were very impressed with the attention to detail and safety protocols the resort had in place to ensure her food was safe. We spoke with the assistant manager for the food department upon arrival at the resort and they flagged our room so everyone knew about our dietary restrictions. The buffet manager at the World Cafe, Carlos Yepez, was very helpful and had his chef prepare breakfast (e.g., gluten free pancakes, omelets, potatoes) and lunch options (french fries fried separately from the regular ones) for our daughter in the kitchen in a separate area to eliminate potential for cross contact. They also gave us a new/unopened bottle of ketchup which we stored in the mini fridge and brought with us every time we went to the buffet. The Portofino and Mi Lucrecia restaurants had great gluten free options for dinner and the staff were able to modify some of the other dishes to gluten free. The staff at all restaurants we went to were very knowledgeable about Celiac disease. Aside from food, we really enjoyed the variety of activities/options for kids at the kids club. They had different evening shows each night which were very impressive. The 4 elements show in the pool was excellent and very entertaining. The rooms were spacious, clean, and the service was great.

Wonderful!
Service at the resort was amazing. Special shout out to the lobby bar staff, especially Antonio and Claudio as well as Adrian at the pool, top notch service! Restaurants were very good, with the exception of the Steak House as our steak was tough and entire dinner was cold. A plumbing problem with our shower was the only issue with our room, however the staff were very responsive in addressing the problem and offered us an upgrade for our inconvenience. Pool was great however it would have been nice to have an adults area as there were many children in and around the pool and hot tub. The hotel was very clean and everyone was very friendly and accommodating to ensure we had a great experience.

Great family resort with unbeatable views, great food, and lots for the kids to do
We stayed at Dreams Vista Cancun from Feb 11–18 as a family of four with kids aged 4 and 8, and travelled with two other families (three additional kids aged 5, 5, and 9). Overall, we had a great experience, and the views alone make this resort stand out. The biggest highlight is the view. We’ve travelled to many all-inclusives in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico, and have never had an ocean view like this. What’s even better is that all rooms have an ocean view. We didn’t upgrade and still had an incredible view from the 12th floor overlooking the golf course and ocean. Our friends paid about CAD$30/day extra for the upgraded ocean view, and while theirs was slightly better, I’m not convinced it’s worth the extra cost. The room was very clean, and housekeeping did a solid job every day, though nothing particularly fancy (no folded towels in the shape of swans, for example!). Before arriving, we were worried the resort might feel too small or not tropical enough since it’s more of a condo-style building rather than a sprawling property with palm trees. But with young kids, it was actually perfect. It was easy to keep track of everyone, and you never felt like your kids or friends were far away. The waterpark was fantastic for our younger kids, although the water was definitely cold. My husband loved the daily surf simulator, and our 8-year-old tried it and had a blast too. The food was excellent, honestly some of the best we’ve had at an all-inclusive. No complaints there. Buffet service was hit-or-miss, especially at breakfast where coffee refills weren’t always offered, but overall service throughout the resort was very good. We had no luck booking à la carte reservations through the Hyatt app as instructed. It either didn’t work or filled up instantly. However, we learned you can go directly to the restaurant and book for the next night, which worked every time. Many other guests told us they did the same. The beach is small, so it’s not ideal if you like long walks, but it’s perfect for families with young kids. We chose not to upgrade to Preferred, and we’re glad we didn’t. Our friends paid about $1500 CAD extra and didn’t feel it was worth it. Most of the Preferred perks (like the rooftop pool and restaurant) are adults-only or difficult to use when travelling with kids. They also had a plunge pool but said it was cold and rarely used it. I used the gym daily between 6:00–7:30am, and it was almost always too busy. There is only one set of dumbbells per weight, which makes it difficult to complete a workout. Adding duplicate sets, especially in the lighter ranges, would make a big difference. A few downsides to be aware of: -You will use the elevators a lot -I had a black Lululemon tank top go missing from our room -The buffet can get crowded, and there was sometimes a line -There is strong pressure when you arrive to attend a “tour” or lunch/breakfast presentation, which is essentially a timeshare pitch. We declined, but saw many families lose valuable vacation time attending these Despite these issues, we had a wonderful trip. The views are truly exceptional, the food was fantastic, and there was plenty for the kids to do. The resort size and layout worked very well for families, and we would absolutely recommend it to others travelling with young children.

Great Trip for A Family Of 6!
We were a family of 6 (5 adults and one 7 year old) who just returned from Dreams Vista. We didn't upgrade to preferred club and we were still very satisfied with our stay! We like a bit smaller resort so that it's easier to get around and this one was a great size for us. The pool, buffet, restaurants and resort in general never felt overly crowded, yet it only took you 5 minutes to run up to your room if you forget something. The rooms and entire property were very clean and well maintained, the food was awesome and the drinks were great! Plus, Jorge, our pool waiter provided impeccable service. What we considered to be downsides are the same as what others have mentioned: Getting a reservation for supper on the app was impossible. I was up at 4am one time and still not luck. When we were able to get into the restaurants, it was because we went down and asked to be put on a waitlist - which resulted in us eating at a later time. However, all three that we were able to get into this way, the food was good which made up for the wait! The second is, if you do have kiddos and are wanting to access to kids pool, it is in the shade for the majority of the day and the water is a lot cooler then the main pool. Our daughter was happy to be in the big pool, but I can see how this wouldn't be ideal for some families with smaller children. After reading the reviews prior to our trip, I started to get a bit nervous, but clearly some people expectations are beyond my comprehension or just cannot be met because all 6 of us were extremely satisfied with our stay and I would happily recommend this resort to others! We came back to -29C here in Alberta, which has me missing Dreams Vista a little extra today!
