    Perfect Day Trip

We booked a resort for a day visit. It was $65/pp. We took a taxi from LaGosta pier. $15 there and $10 return. International Pier is walking distance. The hotel was perfect. Check-in easy and everyone so nice. They offered wifi and towels. We got there at 9 am and ate breakfast. Very nice buffet. Great omlets and fresh juices. The melon and cucumber so good! It poured for two hours but cleared up. Snorkeling was like in an aquarium. We entered the ocean from the beach area and from the ramp/steps. Much easier for us to enter from beach. If you are new to snorkeling, you can want to go to the beach area and climb down the ladder. We snorkel a lot and entered from the beach. It is super shallow there but just float immediately and get our there! It was our favorite place to see such a variety of fish. No coral reef but the rocks attracted the fish. Even in slightly choppy water it was easy to snorkel. There were many very small moon jellyfish. I got stung so many times. Now I have about 20+ looking red itchy bumps. They serve you lunch on the beach and drinks. The staff amazing. Jose was great. He even through in some break while we snorkeled to attracted schools of fish. The food was very good. The drinks were okay. I think we just like our drinks sweeter. The pool was clean and adequate for a short cool down. We played the large chess and tried to get some to join us in beach volleyball. Highly recommend this place.

    Great value and location!

Love love love the location. This El Cid hotel grew on me. I have stayed at the Marina Mazatlan and the Ventus in Cancun. This experience was definitely less expensive but no less fabulous. The staff took good care of us and the water access cannot be beat!

    Place of relaxation and peace.

Very intricate place. where everyone can get to know you and specialize the experience. Roger kept the energy going all day with his positive energy. Makes sure you have fun with anything you want to do. Ruby the sweetest person ever meet helped to keep me hydrated all day, recommended a place where I could get my hair done downtown and let me in on a cozy coffee shop when I felt the need to caffeinate. The dive masters Juan Carlos was super helpful with my desire to dive during the rainy season and I saw such amazing life. This is my new favorite place to relax, ride bikes around the city, enjoy the natural culture and beauty the island has to offer. I want to thank Armando , Jose, victor , the amazing employees who double as professional dancers, and all the other guest friends I have made in the loving place. I can’t wait to come back again.

    Great waiter David

I had a great time. The food was good and David was a great waiter. There is a young bartender that worked really hard on day shift. It’s my 2nd visit I scuba dived here too

We enjoyed our first week so much at the El Cid La Ceiba Beach Resort that we booked an additional 9 days and cancelled the booking we had made at the Wyndham Cozumel Resort, this was a mistake, we were not informed when extending our stay that plans had been scheduled to upgrade the restaurant area but it would only be closed for 2 days, not true, the work took 4 days of rearranging guest and restaurant staff to a "not so comfortable situation". The buffet meals for the most were cold and displayed a poor selection, as voiced by several of the guests. When a Cruise Ship docked and the passengers received a day pass to the El Cid the paying guests were placed second on service priority when ordering drinks to the point that some guests walked to the bars to get their own drinks instead of waiting 20/30 minutes for service, and at one time a guest informed us that he requested two beach towels and was told there were none available only to see a couple from a cruise ship to ask for beach towels and the attendant reached under the counter a gave them 2 towels, not on for guests at a 4-Star All-inclusive Hotel to be treated as second class. The other issue was that when you arrive you are only issued with two Wifi code numbers that you can only use on two of your phone/tablet appliances, at bars or restaurants they give you the passwords that can be used on multiple phones, but NOT at this 4-Star resort, you can purchase additional WiFi passwords at $8.00 per day, also when we arrived to our room we noticed that there was only one coffee sachets available so I went to the front desk and requested more coffee, they informed me that if I require any additional coffee sachets I must purchase them daily and this is in an All-inclusive Hotel. Being World Travellers I can assure you that the El Cid La Ceiba Cozumel does not qualify as a 4-Star Hotel, we recently spent 4 months touring Thailand and Vietnam and the 3-Star hotels in these countries outclassed the El Cid. Even though the staff did a great job under the conditions management still has work to do to improve the standards.
