    Fun in Cozemel

This property is right on the water and next to the cruise ship docking piers. We loved watching the ships come& go. It is older and smaller but well.maintained and clean and staff were awesome. Just know it doesn't have it's own beach but there is water access.

Fabulous Week at the EL CID All Inclusive Beach Resort

I had the opportunity to join some friends at the El CID under their all inclusive plan for a full week. Our suite in The Towers was on the 12th floor and it was amazing! Full kitchen, dining table, living room, flat screen, and door to huge balcony. And two huge windows with great views. The other side of the wall with its own door was the king bed, closet, safe, spacious bathroom, sitting area, and its own door to the balcony! I never heard any noises from other guests nor was the elevator disruptive. All of the employees I met were friendly and hospitable from the front desk checkin, bellmen, housekeeping, servers, beach waiters, spa, activities director, etc. I went daily to their La Chopa restaurant. I also used room service for breakfast three times and every time the food was timely delivered, hot, and tasty. And being able to order cocktails and/or food while sitting in the hot tub adjacent to the bar was heaven! The activities director always had something going on… bingo, pool volleyball, water aerobics, a Latino dance group in the evening, an incredible Mayan event after supper another evening, live music, corn hole, free snorkel lessons, karaoke, etc. Location is perfect if you are an ocean lover. Six concrete steps down into the water and you are off snorkeling or scuba diving. Sea life is abundant right below those steps and further out. A sunken aircraft, an old anchor, spotted rays, reclusive eel, thriving coral reef, blue tangs, trunkfish, damselfish, angelfish, parrotfish, clownfish and trumpetfish. I ended up snorkeling nine times over four days. The beach area has plenty of lounge chairs and lots of shade covers. And beachside waiters to take orders! Between the restaurant and the beach area was their pool which was fabulous insofar as temperature and incredibly clean and beautiful turquoise colors. I did do a spa service after a day of swimming and snorkeling. I selected the reflexology so that the service focused primarily from my knees down to my feet. After five days of being on vacation, the spa technician did an incredible job of massaging those tired toes. Best of all I chose to have my service outside in a somewhat secluded area under a canopy relaxing and listening to the ocean waves. Note: it is somewhat dated in furnishings/appearance and also close to where the cruise ships dock.

    Lovely

The Hotel itself is a little tired and could use some basic upgrades in the suites and the public bathrooms especially! The mattresses and linens are very well used! The lobby is nice and welcoming. The people who greet you and work there are the kindest and friendliest I’ve met, anywhere! Pedro in the dive shop, Camilla in the restaurant are simply lovely. Roger the activities director is brilliant! He is always happy and asking how your vacation is going. How he gets all the people in the pool for aquacise class I’ll never know. A huge thank you to all the lovely workers at La Cieba! See you next year!
