Newly rebranded Adults Only, didn’t disappoint
We spent 6 nights here in a premier ocean front room. The view and room were amazing. Knowing this resort has just recently changed from a family resort to adults only, is important to note. The rooms are situated well, but need some TLC. If you plan to come to a brand new resort and stay in a newly constructed room, this is not your place (yet). That being said, we have been to so many adults only resorts that are beautiful, filled with all the high end stuff and exude luxury, this place feels so much more comfortable and welcoming. The staff has been fantastic! Everyone has been so amazing, accommodating, very much wanting guests to enjoy themselves. Staff at the premiere club were fabulous, especially Marcela ! The beach and pool staff were great, Notario was the best! But they were all great! The restaurants were a little limiting, but Yairo made sure I got exactly what I wanted every night. I can’t say one bad thing about any of the staff, they were all just great! The location is good it you are looking for some night life, it’s one block to 5th Street. We are not the go downtown every night people, but this place is perfect for those people. Overall, it’s been a great experience.

Excellent Experience
This is our first stay at Devossion and the hotel has just opened since it transitioned from a family resort to an adults only resort. The place was very much empty - maybe 40 - 60 people tops. Arrival: We arrived and quickly checked in and were taken to our room, no delays. This was quick and the people were super friendly. Location: You literally are one block off of the main strip in Playa. If you like downtown playa access this is the place for you. It was nice to be able to walk downtown in a few minutes. Room: We stayed in the ocean front room and it was very nice. The room is very spacious and the view was stunning. It’s clear they did a quick refresh as it only closed 1 month between the switch but still this was a great room. I would say it was one of the best views we have had and the 2nd largest room we have stayed in Mexico. There is some beer in the fridge but no alcoholic bottles in the room. At other locations when you pay for the upgraded room it usually comes with 2 bottles of alcohol that you can choose at check in. They cleaned the room each day and we were very happy with it. Devossion Club: The club is clearly a work in progress and is currently located in what was a penthouse room. The alcohol is basic , across this location, they need to upgrade the choices for people with club access . Every afternoon and night we went to the club and Marcela waited on us. She was excellent - super nice - huge smile . She really made the club experience excellent . Pool/ Beach: We are beach people and had a cabana all week. The service at the beach was great they even brought food to you. Notario was are primary waiter and he was excellent. Your drinks never got warm and he was quick with a drink if yours was getting low. Something I haven’t seen at other places is they asked if you wanted a single or double shot. It’s minor thing but I really appreciated it as later in the day I wanted a single shot . All the wait staff was great . The food at the pool and beach was shockingly fast; I can’t remember any place that brought food this quick. Restaurants : We are not foodies and they have limited restaurants here. My wife literally only eats plain chicken so again we can’t rate the food. I will say breakfast was disappointing as they had very limited selection . We ate lunch at the beach so no issues there . We had 2 meals at the Italian place and it was good but the menu was limited. The Grill is where we had all our dinners but 1 . We really liked the grill. Yairo was our waiter every night . After the first night Yario remembered our names and our order. Even though they didn’t have plain chicken or fries he made sure my wife had that each night. He also made sure I had what I needed. He was amazing ! Overall I would recommend this place as a great relaxing place. Really only some minor things they are clearly still working out since the transition but it was great and the staff was super nice. Everywhere we were in the facility the staff was so polite and happy to see us - really made the experience better. Well done Devossion!

My Honest Review of the Newly Rebranded Devossions by Life Aqua (formerly Hyatt Playa del Carmen)
As someone who has been coming to this hotel for years, I can truly say the staff continues to be absolutely incredible. A huge thank you to Hector, Geraldo, Daisy, and everyone at the front desk and around the resort for being so kind, accommodating, and genuinely amazing. That said, if you’re coming here expecting a true all-inclusive experience, I’d recommend thinking twice before booking. The property no longer offers the variety it once did. There’s only a buffet in the morning, and the food options at night are very limited. The Italian restaurant has a small menu and leans more toward seafood, and the grill is à la carte. The food has no flavor and and the plate options are very small. Unfortunately, the coffee shop is disappointing, and overall, the food quality lacks flavor and variety. We ended up eating off-property most days because the dining just didn’t meet expectations. After years of being loyal guests, we’ve decided we won’t be returning. Very disappointing experience.

a few days in Playa del Carmen
Devossion, Playa Del Carmen August 2025 I had the great opportunity to visit a brand new brand in Playa Del Carmen. The old Grand Hyatt is now Devossioins by Live Aqua and it is everything. I was at the Grand hyatt a few months ago, its so much better now that its an all inclusive. We had a great time, the rooms are great and the staff is amazing. I was only there a month after the new ownership and so far so good. They are still working on some new eateries, but the ones we visited were perfect as is. The pools are great and be sure to be at the pool every day at !:26 as there is a champagne toast celebrating their location at the intersection of 1st and 26th street. I cant wait to return and see whats new at this fabulous resort. From the check in Francisco he amazing team at the pool including Gerardo, Miguel, and Narsario. Tessa and Walter at breakfast and Scarlett at the sushi restaurant Everyone was so friendly and pleasant.

Love the vibe here!
My wife and I had an amazing time at Devossion! I was there on a FAM with a number of other travel agents checking out the resort as they are working on their transition from a Hyatt property to a Live Aqua property. Our experience started out perfectly as we were greeted by Miky and a few other bellhops who grabbed our bags. The check-in process was seamless and we were in our room within minutes. We quickly got to know our favorite bartender, Sergio! He was always so friendly and kind. He remembered what we liked to drink and greeted us with the biggest smile each time we saw him. Later that evening we met Francisco for the first time as he was working at the Italian restaurant that we had dinner at. He was also extremely kind and saw to our every need. After having dinner in the steakhouse one night and experience the famous soup in a sourdough bowl, he was kind enough to get me a tour to meet the pastry chef and his team! I had told him that I have my own restaurant in the states and that I was interested in learning about how their team prepares for large events. We loved our stay and look forward to heading back!
