A Trip Very Well Done-Hammock Cove Resort
Our first time to Antigua and Hammock Cove was certainly worth 14 hour trip from San Antonio to celebrate "that special birthday for Honey) Getting through customs took 1,1/2 hours...last time for that..onto the Fasttrack. The welcome went very smooth with a trip to the bar as bags and paper work were prepared...then led to our ocean front villa that was absolutely perfect with a wonderful view, spacious deck with pool and as well as villa layout. Running down the topics: you really could not complain about anything. Wetbar was top shelf, food overall was excellent. Four nights at the "Lighthouse" for fine dining added a nice bit of class when dining. Menus may be concidered limited but there is something for everyone's taste. Our three nights at "Sir Robs Steak House" were just as enjoyable if not more. Multi selections of beef, chicken and fish were prepared perfectly while a pre dinner cocktail at the the bar set the evening on an excellent course(thanks Shamarque). So many of the staff, if not ALL, that we came into contact were enjoyable and efficient. Briefly....at Irinis..Collette,Clark, Feb......at Lighthouse...Feb, Carmara, Azsa....and all over the place...Jahiro..one of the two best bartenders there. Getting to the beach does take a bit of doing as a multitude of steps to get down and back should be a thought for the impaired....but a great beach, small but absolutely perfect for the laid back vibe you want.Kayaks and Hobie Cat available for use but the best is the attendants that make sure you consistently ensure you have exactly what you want. Food....drinks....ice...towels...more drink ect..and led by Julio. Its just a perfect place to relax. While I have listed a few names(excuse the spelling), the entire staff there is to be commended. And a special thanks to Ambassadors Javon, Jahsun and Kenya......WELL DONE. BE BACK SOON

Hammock Cove Honeymoon
We had an amazing stay at Hammock Cove and truly the best time. The food lived up to the hype—honestly Michelin-caliber—and we ate incredibly well. Breakfast was good and consistent, though it was the same every day and service could be a bit slow. By day two, the staff already knew us and joked we’d “turn into a Bloody Mary” when we ordered one. During the day, the beach was relaxed and it was always easy to get a seat. Julio and Dorland were outstanding, walking drinks out into the ocean and always checking back in. Our favorite pre-dinner spot was the Lighthouse Bar. Roshriece and Tashawna made great cocktails and remembered our names and orders right away. Sir Rob’s was incredible—the meats were amazing and one of our favorite meals. Llasmin, Andre, and Jerome were fantastic servers, and Javier was an excellent ambassador who followed up quickly on anything we needed. The reason this is a 4-star stay instead of 5 is that they ran out of items several times. The seafood BBQ ran out of octopus, sushi night ran out of matcha ice cream, chocolate cake was unavailable another night, and the beach ran out of jalapeños and mint. Our room wasn’t turned down every day, and after a rainy night there were hundreds of rain flies on our balcony. We also wish the Lighthouse menus were available further in advance, as it made it hard to decide where to eat on our last night and felt like we missed out. We went for our honeymoon and loved it enough that we were already talking about coming back for our first anniversary—while we were there and even on the way home.

This Resort is Almost There.
HCA is a 5 Star property, The grounds are beautiful. You'd be hard pressed to meet nicer people that work harder than this staff. We found the accommodations extremely comfortable (Room 51) with a beautiful view - plenty of reviews here illustrate the environment. Pretty nice. That said, the welcome road into the property a was cratered reminder that this is off the 'first-world beaten path'. We rolled in after 5pm, shuttled into the bar and waited another 20-30 minutes for the ride to the room. Note: It was door to door 14 hours for travel - so we had the random uber/airplane/taxi seat 'ick' and generally tired. I suspect the 20 odd minutes in the lobby bar is to get the luggage to the room etc. however with a 3 pm check in - I would have rather waited the 20 minutes for luggage in the room - which was tempered like a walk-in freezer upon arrival. As I stated, room is clean, well kept, the desk mini-bar area (stocked daily, which I liked) was nice - plenty of everything and a shower the size my childhood bedroom. All that said, my review is 4 stars (circles, whatever) because the food at this resort is, maybe, mid to average? I was surprised because many of the reviews said the food was pretty good. Some highlights - at breakfast, the juice is watered down and served on ice. We've traveled quite a bit - not the typical way fresh juice is served. I was assured it was just squeezed, but I have eyes and taste buds. The coffee had the same vibe, watered down. The food was average, nothing special. The croissants tasted like they were out of a bag. From yesterday. Frozen for sure. The beach is pretty small (fyi to you beach walkers). The staff down there is super friendly (thx Julio) and ready willing and able to get you on a paddle board, into a sailboat, whatever. We had lunch down there most days. To say that the experience is below average would be kind. All the food is run down from the kitchen at Irina's. So nothing is ever hot - fries are soggy, burgers are under cooked or unrecognizable pucks. The bar pizza tastes frozen (which I'm sure all the ingredients are) and to partake in this feast, get comfy,it takes about 70 minutes. It's like snack bar food at your local bowling alley, only not as good. It's unfortunate HCA doesn't have a kitchen closer to the beach - and I feel sorry for the servers who have to face the guests and deliver this offering. Plus the lunch menu is eclectic, and weak in my opinion. Plus, they never switch it up. With three restaurants, and 10 nights, I would safely say I had a decent dinner twice, both at Sir Rob's. This is the 'steak house' - but the steaks are paper thin. You'd get a better piece of meat at Longhorn. While the website may claim HCA: 'offers a Michelin-Caliber dining experience that caters to even the most discerning palates', I would argue that they don't come close. And no dinner at a resort should take two+ hours. During out first visit to the Lighthouse for dinner, it took 30 minutes to get the drinks. Hey, I'm cool with 'Island Time' etc - but 30 minutes? I would add that the 'tasting menu' (offered during our stay over the holidays) was a disappointment - most of it was served room temp and flavorless. Plus if you don't eat one or two things on that menu, suddenly you're looking to get a grilled cheese sent to your room. But don't be fooled. That, too, will be cold, old and take over an hour. My take is that the food service operation here has a ways to go to be, as they claim, Michelin-Caliber. They also claim (as of the writing of this review) that 'Clear-Bottom Kayaks' are available to use. I can assure you, they are not only unavailable, they do not exist. So let's get that website refreshed, huh? The good news? This is the first trip in decades where i actually lost weight on vacation. PS - Shout out to Mr. Ambassador, Rondel. A sweet guy that took great care of us. *Would not recommend this property for families (even with adult children).

Ok
Hotel was clean , service was a hit or miss. Food variation was minimal. Not too many to choose from. Bar and drink staff also was hit or miss. If you want to basically lay out really do nothing this is the place. If you want more of a hotel with various activities this is not the place.

Already planning my next trip back!
Had the best time! Beautiful and peaceful resort Couples massage was great Make sure you ask about activities at the front desk so you can take advantage of the full offerings The caviar hour, seafood grill, and oyster events as well as the cooking demonstration with the Michelin chef were highlights Shaq was a very responsive ambassador and all the staff were so accommodating Shout of it to Casildo at Light house for being accommodating The food was reallllly good, don’t be fooled by the fact that this is all inclusive. The hotel tries very hard to make the food options very fancy!! We were sad to leave after 6 days and plan to come back next Christmas
