    Amazing Customer Service!

The Mrs. and I came here for our 20th Anniversary. After reading several reviews, we opted for the "Altamar" package, and I'm glad we did, as it's completely worth it. Here's a detailed rundown: TRANSPORTATION: Altamar includes private SUV transportation to and from the hotel. This is so convenient, as you literally walk out of the airport, and go to station 6, and someone is holding a Hilton sign. Grab a Cerveza, hop in the Suburban or Lincoln Navigator, and you'll be at the Hilton in about 30 minutes. CHECK-IN: The Bell Staff will greet you, hold your luggage, if your room isn't ready, and escort you to the Altamar Concierge. Altamar Concierge does reach out to you a few weeks prior to check-in to ask if you have any requests, or want to make reservations at restaurants, the spa, or pool/beach cabanas. With Altamar, you get 20% off on certain services. Fortunately, our room was ready early (approximately 1P). The Bell Staff will take you to your room, and within minutes, someone will be at your door with complimentary Mezcal. So, my wife and I took a shot of Mezcal, and off we went to the pool. LENA: This is the poolside, oceanfront restaurant and bar. We opted for the swim up bar, and the bartenders are amazing. Beers (Corona family only) run $9USD. Margaritas are about $15 for house. For just a $6 upcharge, you can get premium Tequilas such as Don Julio. The cocktails here are much better than in the US, as it's not a bunch sweet crap, and damn good- which resulted in zero hangovers. The food at Lena is also very good. We tried the shrimp tacos, and the Sea Bass tacos were phenomenal. We didn't try the wood fire pizzas, but other guests raved about how good they were. I'm forgetting several names, but the servers and bartenders at the pool that went above and beyond: 1. David. This guy is amazing, and offered great food/drink recommendations. He buts his hide off, and is a very cool young man. 2. Diego. Again, a very friendly, and hardworking young man. 3. Jesus. I think he's the Bar Manager. We were amazed at how tight of a ship he runs here, and he never hesitated to jump in, and work his *** off, to assist his employees, or the guests. He's an extremely valuable asset to this property. I would also like to add that that everyone seemed to get along, and enjoy their jobs. Unfortunately, we don't see this work ethic in the US. VELA: This is the on-site Italian restaurant. We had a poolside table, and the service was spot on. The food was good, but we weren't wowed, so to speak. No complaints though. TALAVERA: Again, part of the Altamar package, gets you free breakfast. Well, free minus a $6 per person surcharge, and of course, you should tip. So, my wife and I spent $22 combined each morning, which I thought was a bargain. The food options were expansive, and so fresh. SOTOL: This is the Lobby restaurant and bar, with amazing oceanfront, and pool views. The drinks and food were always good here, and the bartenders were top notch, regardless of what you ordered. Again, we're forgetting names, but Gerrardo, and especially Ivan went above and beyond. Ivan made such a huge impression on my wife and I with his knowledge, and the top level of customer service. His work ethic is second to none, and the Hilton is fortunate to have him. ROOMS: We stayed in Room #5044, which is listed as an "oceanview" suite, but in fact, it's oceanfront, and has about as good of a view as you can get. Rooms were spacious, and clean. We would consider a plunge pool suite next time, as those looked very cool. POOLS: Views for days. Seriously, there is not a bad view from any pool, or hot tub. And, clean! The staff works hard maintaining a clean, and enjoyable environment. I would also like to add- the grounds crew here kept the resort in impeccable shape. The attention to detail was impressive. I'm sure that I'm forgetting certain aspects of our stay, but if you ask, "would we stay here again?" Most definitely!

Anniversary made special by the staff

We enjoyed our stay at the Cabo Hilton. The last time we were in area we stayed at the One and Only Palmilla but the adult pool/bar area was being remodeled this trip and so we decided on a lower price point for this late summer trip to celebrate our anniversary. We experienced excellent service from the time we were picked up by the Hotel's transportation service at the airport to the time were were dropped off. I can't say enough good things about the concierge service we experienced as AltaMar guests and so I was surprised to read a recent review from a guest who appeared to visit around the same time were were there who thought the service was lacking and that Lena was closed (see comments on Lena below). We were graciously greeted by several employees when we arrived, including the acting GM. We were quickly escorted back to the private AltarMar guest check in and just as quickly offered and given a very refreshing welcome cocktail. Once checked in by one of our concierges, Emils, we were escorted to our plunge pool room by Amir, who ended up being our concierge our entire six day stay. He explained in detail the services and amenities provided and asked what special arrangements, if any, he could make for us. The room was decorated in celebration of our anniversary, including balloons, towel swan decorations, a complimentary bottle of champagne and chocolates- great touch to start the trip. Through direct communications with both Emils and Amir, via text or email, they set up all of our dinner reservations, both on and off property, our daily coffee service and nightly turn down service. Amir and Emils, our concierges, were fantastic. Pool service at the adult pool was great. And even though were didn't order much food or cocktails during the day around the pool, the servers were always quick to refresh our ice bucket and water, or rearrange our umbrella. George, the primary pool supervisor/attendant, was always welcoming and friendly. The food and service at all of the restaurants was good. I was skeptical of the breakfast buffet, but it was excellent. Fresh fruit, juices, smoothies and Mexican style breakfast offerings. However, you could also get made to order eggs or omelettes if you preferred. Our concierges went above and beyond to let each restaurant know we were celebrating a wedding anniversary and so each restaurant at dinner did something a little extra for us (even when we ate off property at The Palmilla and Las Ventanas). Another very nice touch. The service and food at Lena on property were excellent. We ate their two nights during our stay, a Thursday night and the following Monday night, the last night of our stay. The pasta and appetizers were fresh and delicious. On the Monday night dinner, there was a piano player inside who provided a very pleasant ambiance to the outdoor eating area that also fortunately had ceiling fans to keep you cool during the hot summer evenings. All in all, for the price point, I rate the hotel five stars. While it's not the Palmilla, it is also a fraction of the cost. For those reasons and the reasons listed above, I would recommend it to any couple looking to get away and enjoy a nice quiet trip with good service and food, at a reasonable value. Antonio Burgarin, the new GM, will also continue to improve upon their excellent service and amenities and so I am certain we will return in the future.

    Cabo Vacation

Just returned from a 6 night stay at the Hilton Los Cabos - The Good - This resort is clean and well maintained, the breakfast option is excellent with many options to choose from which will get your day off to a great start. The pools at the Hilton are also very refreshing and inviting with the adult pool being our favorite to relax in while watching the ocean waves crashing into the rocks protecting the beautiful cove. The Bad - The evening restaurants on-site - Lena in particular which is advertised on the Hilton web page to be open on Sunday, Monday and Thursday was not open for our entire 6 night stay. We had dinner off the Hilton property several nights due to very limited restaurant selection at this resort. One point to note is there is no night time entertainment at this resort, no live bands, no piano player at dinner and not much of anything to do after 5:30 PM - Couldn't even get a gelato ice cream cone to enjoy in the evening. Sorry we are closed - oh did I mention at 5:30 PM. One last thing - If you have been an AltaMar guest and Hilton member for several years as we are, don't expect a welcome drink when you arrive. Very disappointing especially when you have traveled 3000 miles to relax and refresh.

NOT a 5-star experience; overpriced; wannabe; disappointing

We stayed at Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort for 7 days in July. I don't want to waste too much time on this review, so I'll summarize. (I need to cut my losses, at this point). NOTICE that this is NOT written by an AI. Unlike the management's responses to people that simply are disregarding of peoples' reviews, and are attempts at shamless advertising. TL;DR -- Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort is below Hilton standards and definitely not a 5-star experience. It is very overpriced for what it is. It is "wannabee." Here are just a few of the reasons why we will not be back: -- Communication with the Hilton team on premises is abysmal. Just booking was a disaster. Multiple mistakes, multiple people involved; I had to invest hours of my time just to get the reservation correct (dates, times, airport transportation, etc.). Pro-tip: CONFIRM EVERYTHING. Everything. E.v.e.r.y.t.h.i.n.g. MULTIPLE times. And then again. CC multiple people of the team (at least 3). When you get a response that everything is settled, be sure to reply and confirm the details all over again. Also ask them to verify all the details, even after they say it's all confirmed. Do this 1 month (or more) in advance, 1 week in advance, 3 days in advance, and then the evening before you arrive. -- Breakfast is hit-or-miss. Definitely not worth the $60 they charge. Looks good in pics, but preparation varies greatly from day to day. Pro-tip: If you buy breakfast, be sure to ask your server for special requests. Simple things, such as "Can I get a full avocado sliced, please?" Those basic things are considered "premium" and aren't found at the buffet. -- tipping is a huge mess. Some servers got mad at us and commented (one of us understands Spanish...) that we didn't leave a tip on the check. BUT it's already 15% tipping on top of the $60 breakfast (for example). Our take-away from this is that the servers don't know that customers are paying 15% more for tips already, so perhaps they are not receiving that money. In any case, we still tipped servers via cash, directly, when they were good (and most of them were). Pro-tip: The service workers are trying to make an income to live, so when they are good please tip them; don't cheap out on them, because they may or may not see the $$$ that Hilton takes from you automatically. -- Mini fridge (this is for the mini bar that comes with the room and is refilled daily) does not get cold enough. No way to adjust. And... (see next comment). Pro-tip: read below on how to get "one ahead." -- Beverages stocked in the mini fridge are warm. Pro-tip -- Bring a huge trash bag with you and fill it up at the ice machine every evening/morning and put your beverages in there. Pro-tip #2 -- If you don't drink your beers/sodas, take them out and hide them in a drawer so the fridge will be refilled while you are gone. Then, when you get back, put them in your bag of ice so keep them cold (see pro-tip about ice, below). This way, you're "one ahead" all the time. -- the room A/C is abysmal. The room never gets cold. The fan runs all day and night and is loud, but the room doesn't cool down. The thermostat might be just for decorative or psychological manipulation. Pro-tip: If you want a cool room, don't even think of coming during summer. -- Talking to customer service on-site via text messaging is also a disaster. You start a question, and then minutes later somebody else takes over to answer it. And then another person, etc. No continuity. Pro-tip: Don't give up. Persistence! Have grit. Although it feels like you could be texting into a black hole, some of the people will eventually solve your problem. -- In the middle of our stay they thought we had checked out, and that we were now new people in the room. (My countless hours trying to assure that the reservation was made correctly still didn't work, obviously). Pro-tip: Text them every evening to tell them that you will be there the next day. Pro-tip: You should actually hope for this to happen to you, as annoying as it sounds. If there's a welcoming gift, you'll get two of them. -- welcoming gift = bottle of mezcal. Oh, it was 50mL, I'm not complaining, but really?... Pro-tip: Bring your own big bottle of mezcal and other beverages from the grocery store on the way in. -- Smack next to the edge of the infinity pool and seating at one of the restaurants is a group of loud and non-stop running A/C units. That entire area is contaminated by noise. Pro-tip: Go down to the ocean to avoid noise. Even the adult pool has noise coming from the property next door. -- Lounge chairs at beach are comfortable, but lack the backs don't lift up at a high enough angle. You are half-way lying and half-way sitting at best. Pro-tip: Don't stay at the Hilton, but at the place next door. It has nice chairs which are right at the cove. -- Alcoholic drinks, in general, are abysmal. A margarita is worse than a bad lemonade with zero alcohol taste in it whatsoever (and no noticeable effect on the body). Pro-tip: Stop at the store and bring your own alcohol with you. -- coffee service -- was set up for every morning, yet some mornings it didn't come. Pro-tip: text them every evening to remind them, and every morning as well. -- elevators are very stuffy and very slow and very hot; no air circulation in them. This might sound petty when you read it now, but when you are there and it's hot, you'll understand... Pro-tip: take the stairs (also not air conditioned), but at least you won't feel like a trapped animal. -- the water shut off twice during our week-long stay. Pro-tip: wash the soap out of your eyes first in case the water shuts off on you. -- the worst part? -- the shower water pressure is the lowest I've seen in my entire life. Pro Tip: Because you are on vacation, plan to spend an hour to shower (literally) and bring a bluetooth speaker to play music when you wash yourself under the drizzle. -- late checkout? It was confirmed but we were locked out of our room when we came back from outside. It was hot. We had to wait in the hot hallway for 20 minutes for somebody to let us in (no A/C). More communication breakdown and bad logistics. Pro-tip: If you have late checkout, don't leave your room because you might get locked out. Watch Netflix for your last hours on vacation. -- Overall, I basically felt like I was "at work" and not on vacation. It's a shame that management and operations are so bad at Hilton Los Cabos Beach & Golf Resort. The physical property has potential.

    Overt Racism

First I have to say the resort is beautiful, clean, spacious, and definitely a 5 star. However, if I could give 0 stars to this resort I would. To be noted, we are Diamond Members and travel extensively to Hilton’s resorts (Indonesia, Thailand, Vegas, Belize, etc etc). The racism that my husband and I have experienced at this resort is ridiculous and very overt. I am Mexican American and my husband is American but his ethnicity is Guatemalan and Austrian. Him and I are the same color as the workers here. We brought our friends, a family of 4, with us who are from Rhode Island and Caucasian. Although we made both reservations under our last name Gonzalez, Hispanic looking Mr. Gonzalez (my husband) and white Mr. Gonzalez (our friend and what they called him here) were treated completely differently on multiple occasions. About 3 days ago, it was about 4pm and the signs for cabana rentals was faced down, so we all thought that since it was later in the day, anyone can sit there without paying. Well our white friends got one without renting and saved us one literally right beside them. They were at the pool for at least an hour before we got there. As soon as my husband and I got there and sat down, here came an employee and only asked us two if we rented one. We said no so we were kicked off. Mind you, our friends are right beside us sitting on their cabana and aren’t told anything. So they got to keep theirs. Then about 3 days ago, my husband and I were told continental breakfast included everything on the perimeter of the buffet, including oatmeal, bread, cereal, yogurt, fruit, hard boiled eggs, smoked salmon, etc. We ate that and no issues. Yesterday, my husband goes by himself and ate what we were told was included in the continental breakfast. When he was leaving, they charged him the full buffet breakfast for getting hard-boiled eggs from the salad station, which we were clearly told the day before we could have. The waitress lady tells him he can grab the lettuce and all the toppings except the hard boiled eggs or smoked salmon that are right beside the salad. So my husband and I are only allowed certain things. Our white friends, including their 2 children, go both days and their continental breakfast does include hard boiled eggs and other “protein” that we are not. Interestingly, the room reservation for them and us is under Gonzalez so they call his white friend Mr. Gonzalez too. But the white Mr. Gonzalez can have whatever he wants but us brown Mr. Gonzalez cannot. Then, yesterday I go to the buffet by myself and they sit me in a corner and no attention whatsoever. Didn’t offer me water or coffee or anything to drink. At the end of breakfast, you have to sign “a bill” for $3 service charge for each person EVEN if you get the free continental. As im on my way out, there’s the receipt charging me $3 for service fee. I told the lady waitress that I was sat in a corner and no one ever offered me anything to drink so I’m not paying a service fee for services I wasn’t even offered. So I didn’t get charged. These are just a few examples and I’ve never experienced it this bad. This is lawsuit worthy. I guess my husband and I can’t be rich, brown, and look Hispanic.
