Hilton Los Cabos – the most expensive weekend we've ever spent
My wife and I booked a three-night marketing package at Hilton Los Cabos to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. We received a discounted rate in exchange for attending a short timeshare presentation. In addition to the cost of the marketing package, we spent $1,428.95 on food and activities. However, the real cost was the $27,000 timeshare we were pressured to buy, along with ever-increasing annual maintenance fees that we must now pay in perpetuity. The timeshare presentation turned from a short informational session into a full-day, high-pressure sales pitch. It began at 11:45 a.m. and dragged on until dinner time. We literally did nothing else that day. We were shown a series of charts and numbers, and pressured repeatedly as we tried to say no. Eventually, we buckled under the pressure and purchased the smallest package offered to us. We now see this as a huge financial mistake for four reasons: 1. Limited availability: We were told we could book across many desirable HGV properties. In practice, it’s nearly impossible to find availability in the places and dates we want. 2. Rising maintenance fees: Our contract said that annual fees would be $1,418. The actual fees we’ve paid have been far higher: - 2021: $1,800.63 - 2022: $3,236.07 (we got two maintenance fee bills that year – $1,614.12 [Mar] + $1,621.95 [Nov]) - 2022: $1,908.42 - 2024: $2,144.55 In total, we have paid $9,089.67 in fees in just four years (an average of $2,272.42 per year which is way more than the $1,418 we were promised). 3. No financial advantage: We like using our points to stay in New York City — however, they don’t go very far. We can only afford to book in the off-season, and only for 5 days (vs, the 7 we thought we were buying). What hurts is that the out-of-pocket cost of those stays (what we would have paid to book directly with the hotel) is nearly equivalent to what we pay in maintenance fees. Thus, there’s no real “savings” — just prepayment for inflexible dates. 4. Customer service is virtually inaccessible: It’s incredibly difficult to reach a real person at Hilton Grand Vacations. Their customer service number isn’t easy to find, and they’re closed on weekends, when most people have time to deal with these issues. The bottom line is that we feel trapped in an expensive, long-term contract with rising annual fees, limited options, and no clear way out. What was sold to us as a “flexible vacation solution” has become a financial and emotional burden. We would never recommend this experience to others.

A Truly Special Experience at Talavera – Thanks to Juan Carlos
We’ve been visiting the Hilton Los Cabos for many years, and one of the highlights of every trip is breakfast at the Talavera restaurant. Juan Carlos has been our server for as long as we can remember, and he’s become like family to us. His warm presence, incredible work ethic, and genuine kindness make every meal feel special. Juan Carlos is not just a fantastic server—he’s an exceptional human being who brings joy to everyone around him. If you dine at Talavera, be sure to say hello to Juan Carlos from The Walton’s and The Rich’s—he is truly La Familia.

Family vacation 2024, Wedding 2025
We went to Hilton Los Cabos in May 2024 as a family vacation and fell in love with the location. The food, although pricey, is the best we have ever had. We ventured out a few times to try local restaurants and kept wanting to return to the food at Hilton. The rooms are very clean and up to date, the staff is friendly and polite. The pools are spacious with plenty of cozy clean lounge chairs and beds around. I loved the different areas to hang out depending on your mood. Little chairs to sit and watch the waves, shady grass nooks to nap, and sunbathing beds that felt private. We traveled with our young children and they had a blast. A big perk is also the swimmable beach in front. This location is a favorite for us because we really enjoy swimming in the ocean and exploring the rocks with our children. We booked this trip through Costco that allowed children 12 and under to eat/drink for free with an entree purchased by an adult. We found this to be very helpful. We loved it so much we returned June 2025 for a reunion and wedding. We made a room block contract through the Hilton Los Cabos for our guests that felt very high risk. There was some trouble working with management to ensure it was beneficial for us as well as our guests. It is really only needed if you have guests who wait until the last minute to book to guarantee they can get a room. As pleased as we are with the Hotel, the room block contract was quite stressful for us and not recommended. We had about 70 guests stay at the hotel for 2-6 days. My favorite memories are sitting back and watching all of our family and friends swimming together, children exploring the beach together, and eating together at the hotel. It was a beautiful, clean, peaceful, place to be where we were all taken care of by the best staff. I cried when we had to leave. A huge shout out to Dafne Cruz. She went above and beyond to send us a lovely welcome gift with a hand written note. She came down to congratulate us and take a picture. She was always checking in to be two steps ahead with a special surprise. The night we left she sent treats for the children and champagne for us. I felt very taken care of and comfortable in her hands. photos taken by local photographer: @ivanac.ph

Beautiful Hilton Los Cabos
We had an amazing experience with Hilton Los Cabos. The wedding team was very organized, experienced, friendly, and communicative. I worked with Aline, Ambar, Fernanda, and Ivette to plan our wedding, and from the initial contract to the big day, they were there every step of the way to help bring our dream wedding to life. Based on your budget, they offer a range of vendors who are familiar with the resort. The food quality is top-notch, and there are multiple venues to choose from, depending on your style. My spouse and I are very happy we chose the beautiful Hilton Los Cabos as our wedding venue. I highly recommend HLC for your wedding and can’t wait to go back again for a stay.
