  5th time visit!!!!

  We are here on our 5th visit and unfortunately we have to go home tomorrow after being here for a week.I can only echo what most people say about this hotel as it’s just perfect.We had a lovely view from our room of the pool and beach.You can’t fault with the food as there’s so much choice and it’s very well presented.Everyone should be congratulated on the he work that they put in as it’s a team effort and also the people behind the scene that you don’t see.We will definitely return again as you can’t go wrong with RIU.

  A holiday to remember!

  Have just returned from a ten night stay at this wonderful hotel. I cannot fault our stay at all, we have returned feeling refreshed, content and full of special memories. The room we stayed in had the most gorgeous ocean view and we could watch the sunrise and sunset with the blissful sound of the waves. I miss this already! Comfortable beds and ample space to hang up clothes/ drawers. Bathroom well equipped with hand soap, towels and shower gel. Aircon and ceiling fan kept us cool at all times. Also there’s a little fridge which I used to keep my own cava in. Our room was cleaned daily by Lorena who was the most attentive and sweet lady, always ready to greet you in the morning. Food - what a treat! We are already missing our fantastic breakfast and dinner buffet service. The wait staff and chefs are a real credit to the hotel, nothing is ever too much and they are always ready with a smile. They really contributed to making our stay feel so special so thank you to all the staff at Riu Monica! We also thoroughly enjoyed our meal at the specialist restaurant which was a nice treat but be sure to book in advance. Sunbeds - can’t comment on any problems but we stayed at the back end of the season so this likely is the reason as less people. We got a sunbed on the days we chose to relax by the pool area. The hotel is literally on the beach and the ocean is beautiful to swim in so make the effort to go for a dip! It was magical. Location - where do I start? Gorgeous. I have no words on how stunningly beautiful and peaceful Nerja is. With so much to do as well! We kayaked, visited other local towns, visited the caves, and enjoyed many strolls to various beaches and around town. Gorgeous shops too, in particular, I loved The Souls Art which sells hand made jewellery, beautiful dresses and other clothing and stunning artisan home wares. The lady who runs it with her mom is wonderful! We also had a day trip to Malaga and Mijas through Tui which was 10/10 day and very well organised. Had we more time, we would’ve done the Granada tour as well. Next time! Also recommend visiting Frigiliana which was another day out we enjoyed. Overall, yes - we will absolutely return. Thank you so much to Riu Monica for making this a truly wonderful experience. Also, we had a bottle of cava in our room on our five year anniversary which was so thoughtful and much appreciated. Cannot wait for our next visit!

  Another great stay

  We're just back from another great stay. Fantastic room with huge balcony and great sea views. The staff as usual are very friendly and make you feel welcome. The food is great but also take the opportunity to try some of Nerjas fab restaurants. I've seen a lot of comments about the sunbed hoggers, but I don't think there is much the hotel can do. The beds aren't available until 8.00 a.m. People chose to queue up to 'run' to their favourite spot, but there are more than enough sunbeds. Just relax you're on holiday. We will be back next year.

  Our holiday at The Riu Monica August 2025

  My wife and I had a fantastic holiday at The Riu Monica 3rd to 13th August. Hotel was spotless, staff were excellent, food was delicious and there was so much choice. Pool was lovely and literally 30 yrds from the beach. We loved it so much we've already booked to go back next year. Chris & Tania Hill

  Enjoyable stay

  Lovely hotel, very clean staff work really hard and are very friendly and helpful. The food was very good at this hotel. I never had a bad meal ,plenty to choose from and well cooked. The bar prices were reasonable too. Nice room, excellent walk-in shower. There is a hairdryer, but it only has one setting, which is hot. Good aircon and a safe . If you like to watch the TV, the sound is that low you cannot hear it, and you can not turn it up . I did ask them to turn it up, which they did, but not much as they are concerned about other guests. It is true about the sun bed situation, but this happens in every hotel. we used to go down to the pool around 1pm and always managed to find a bed . The only thing that let the hotel down for me was the evening entertainment. The abba and elvis tribute acts were good, but the rest of the nights, the singers were awful .We had a lovely stay at the riu monica .
