  Second visit to this fabulous hotel

  Second visit to this amazing hotel. Fabulous food and a good position to wander into town for a coffee or visit the caves by a small train or get the bus up to Frigliana which is a must but not for people who cannot do steps. We hired a car with Europcar back in UK for2 days and went to Alhambra Paalce again.

  Riu Monica, Nerja

  Another visit to The Riu Monica in Nerja and again the service was very good. Reception, dining room, bedrooms all first class. The cleanliness throughout the hotel is excellent. Nico on reception very helpful .Manuel in the dining room was very helpful and so obliging in sorting out tables for our group of eleven.

  Fabulous holiday with friends

  We stayed with a group of friends aged between 50- 65 as we were all attending a wedding in Malaga. This was a fabulous hotel and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. The hotel had a lovely spacious reception area that was tastefully decorated and we were treated with a glass of fizz on arrival until we were all checked in. We stayed in room 328 which was perfect for us as it was quiet and had a sea view even though it was on the side of the hotel. The rooms were well laid out and had everything you needed including tea/coffee etc and a fridge. We took extra hangers as we always find there’s never enough but the room came with ample hangers and loads of storage. The bed and pillows were so comfortable which made for a great nights sleep. The large ceiling fan also kept the room cool during the night. The bathroom was spacious too with a great shower and came with a bidet. All 6 couples commented on the friendliness of the staff and how immaculately clean the hotel and pool area was. The terrace was lovely to have a drink before dinner and the inside courtyard was also a lovely area to meet for drinks. We had fully intended on eating out some nights but the food in the hotel was so varied and delicious we had dinner every night other than when at the wedding. The food was fresh with a different menu to suit all tastes every night. The staff went out of their way to seat us all together both for breakfast and dinner. The food at the pool bar was also really good and reasonably priced and the drinks were reasonable too. We had heard the this hotel was just for the elderly which is why we weren’t so sure about staying as even though our age range was 50 -65 we still all like to have fun. We thought age range was mixed although if you’re in your 20’s to early 30’s it may not be suitable for you. There was entertainment every night but we only stayed for one night as we had planned to meet friends in old town Nerja. The beach on the doorstep is also a great selling point for this hotel as we all like the choice of swimming in the sea or the pool. We all had a fabulous stay in a beautiful hotel that was well maintained with great staff and only a short ten minute walk to the beautiful old town and we will definitely return !
