Apr 29, 2025Good location good hotel
Riu is in good location in a very walkable area. Back of hotel over looks water and is on the huge walkway along the ocean. Not as many restaurants at this particular Riu but the ones they have are good. Staff are friendly and helpful and most speak English. Room was clean and comfy. We had room 1 which was a little tricky to get to. It did have a good view of pool area but was very quiet. I would recommend this hotel.

This is our fourth time here a Easter. The staff really make this hotel special. They greet us like old friends and familiar face are still there. The lack of turnover is reassuring! The food is always freshly cooked, plentiful and varied. Every area is spotless and the cleaning staff/chambermaids are cheerful and friendly.

Apr 25, 2025No help when a problem occurs
Attention when you book through third party companies like Booking.com. You won't get any service at all and they don't keep their word! Last week I made a booking 10 minutes before arrival for our family. Upon arrival it was clear it was an adultsonly hotel and our 2 childres (15 and 17 y) were not welcome. They rejected checkin. It was inconvenient but was my fault (due to timepressure I made the reservation for 4 persons/adults). To avoid being charged I had to contact Booking.com, they would do the necessary. As it was normally a non-cancellable booking, the hotel agreed that they won't charge anything. Plus they cancelled the booking, I didn't. Booking.com send them three emails asking to waive the payment as promised, but they refuse to reply and refer each time to Booking. The bookingservice of Riuhotels who I contacted is not aware of anything. The hotel rejects to give the direct emailadress or phonenumber of the particular bookingservice that takes care of their business for booking through third party companies (in Torremolinos?) and pleads innocence. Now we are one week further and because of the lack of reaction from the hotel, the bookingservice marked it as a no show and I was charged on my credit card. A zillion mails and phone calls later to the hotel or Booking had no result. Nobody answered my arguments. So they promise to waive the payment but in reality don't or as they say, can't act. It is remarkable that an hotel isn't able to talk to their own bookingservice, explain the matter and help their guests. What a very unprofessional company it is...

Nerja Easter 2025
Can't recommend this hotel enough! Lovely staff, very, very clean, great relaxing atmosphere and good food. We stayed for 6 nights for some R&R and the place did not disappoint from the welcome on arrival to the housekeeping, bar and restaurant staff.
