Veronica was fantastic! A constant beaming smile whether at the start or end of the night. Super attentive and welcoming

Excellent staff. Very attentive and friendly. Always prepared to do their best. Would 100% come back. They even grabbed our belongings to keep them dry when it suddenly started to rain and we were in the ocean!

Great amenities and location, but 4 out of 7 of us got food poisoning

Our family of seven (including our 2.5-year-old grandson) stayed at the Iberostar Selection Cancun from Jan 10–17. While there were many positives, our trip was unfortunately marred by a serious health issue. The Positives: ● Facilities & Staff: The resort is very clean, well-laid out, and located conveniently in the Hotel Zone. The staff provided good service throughout our stay. ● Activities: We enjoyed the variety of options, including yoga, boot camp, and aqua fit. ● For Kids: The ice cream stand was a daily highlight for our grandson! Our rooms were spacious, clean, and well-stocked with a mini-fridge and coffee/tea. ● Dining: The Japanese Teppanyaki was definitely the standout meal. The Challenges: ● Food Poisoning: This was the biggest negative. Out of our group of 7, 4 of us came down with food poisoning at different times. Some got sick on day 3; I got sick on day 5. My last night was spent entirely between the bed and the bathroom. It’s hard to enjoy a resort when half the family is confined to the room. ● Entertainment Timing: The main shows start at 9:30 PM, which is quite late for families with young children. Since our grandson goes to bed at 7:00 PM, we usually ate dinner early and missed most of the evening fun. ● Drinks: The drinks felt quite watered down, though this wasn't a dealbreaker for us. Pro-Tip for Travelers: The location is excellent. You can take the public bus for only 12 pesos to get to downtown, Walmart, or the Isla Mujeres ferry. It’s very easy to navigate! Final Thoughts: This is a lovely property with great potential, but until the food safety issues are addressed, we would hesitate to return or recommend it to others traveling in large groups.

⚠️ VERY SERIOUS WARNING – DANGEROUS EXPERIENCE AT IBEROSTAR SELECTION CANCÚN ⚠️

Our stay at Iberostar Selection Cancún turned into a serious health incident, handled with a shocking lack of care, accountability, and basic human decency. Shortly after dining at the Japanese restaurant inside the hotel, my wife and I suffered a severe food-related illness: high fever, intense shaking, violent vomiting with bleeding. We had not left the hotel at all for several days and never ate outside, making an internal source the only possibility before even taking any test. Despite this being an obvious medical emergency, the hotel’s response was deeply alarming: • The front desk was extremely agressive towards us • Our condition was openly questioned, implying we were not telling the truth • We were told that “if a doctor had to be called and paid every time a guest claims to be sick, the hotel would not survive” • We were asked to pay for medical tests ourselves in order to “prove” we were actually ill - even though we told the hotel they could perform any test they wanted on us if necessary • No emergency protocol or proper assistance was initiated 👉 This is a major failure of duty of care and crisis management. What makes this even more concerning is the defensive strategy adopted by management afterward: • Repeated references to vague “internal protocols” • Claims that “no other guests reported similar symptoms” (which is legally and factually irrelevant) • Clear attempts to deflect responsibility instead of addressing the facts ⚠️ Important for future guests to understand: An establishment’s responsibility does NOT depend on how many people complain. It depends on what happened to you, especially when health and safety are involved. This incident occurred during: • Our honeymoon • On my birthday What should have been a once-in-a-lifetime experience was permanently ruined. A formal case has since been initiated, which we are actively documenting with both external medical records and internal medical documentation linked to the hotel. Due to serious concerns about the lack of proper medical assistance and fear of non-care or non-coverage, we were also compelled to contact our respective embassies. To add insult to injury, the on-site medical consultation alone costed a total of 755 USD, without even addressing the full scope of our medical expenses. This financial burden was imposed despite the hotel’s refusal to properly manage the emergency in the first place. All further communications were required strictly in writing, which reflects the seriousness of this matter. ❌ I strongly advise against staying at this hotel If you become seriously ill here, do not expect proper medical support, empathy, or accountability. The “luxury” and “guest care” image is purely marketing. When something goes wrong, you are on your own. To date, no concrete or appropriate solution has been provided. The only response offered by the hotel was a complimentary meal the day after our intoxication, which in itself demonstrates a complete disconnection from the reality of a medical emergency and a profound misunderstanding of the seriousness of the situation. Finally, beyond the medical incident, it must be noted that the cleanliness of the rooms was unacceptable, with poor and negligent housekeeping that in no way aligns with the standards claimed by a so-called luxury resort. This review is not emotional. It is based on facts only and written to prevent other guests from experiencing what we went through.

    Mixed feelings

4 star hotel that given bad condition of the room’s bathroom( broken doornob) bad smell. Restaurant system first arrive first eat not nice. Japanese restaurant very flat the food and no show from the cook. Called and went to ask for sparkling water to the room. Never came. “Concierge” is scheme to “invite you to the special breakfast” for people between 35-50. There they talk offering you something to purchase. I say purchase as they ask if you have credit card, Which (visa master etc) and to bring it to “special breakfast ” If not you cant enter. All this and the concierge forgot to ask date for us for japanese restaurant reservation. The beach was great. The pizza from La horma recomended. La parrila bbq good. American bistro good. El mar (night and day) good. If you want to relax you should go given the great beach. Party people I recommend go to another place. Their is no party activity. More family resort or rest

    GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS

I have celiac disease and traveling is very hard trying to figure out if I can eat somewhere . I did some research of the most celiac safe resorts I could in Cancún . There wasn’t a lot of information but this place kept comming up and very allergy friendly and I had seen something mentioned about gluten free options . I took a chance because what else was I going to do NOT GO ON VACATION !! NO WAY . I am SOOO glad I picked this place they were beyond accommodating they had soooooo many gluten free options . They got to know me personally their English was competent they really tried it was amazing to see . The CRAZY part was they walked around the buffet with me EVERY meal stating what was and was not gluten free and what even may contain gluten it was incredible. Make sure you look for a tall hat chef and ask them if they have a second job to walk about with you and they will be happy to do so . Also the resort its self was just really nice . I can’t recommend this place enough !!
