Great hotel but my least favourite Majorca resort

If you've stayed at an Iberostar before you know what you're getting. We LOVE the Iberostar chain and are always happy with their rooms, restaurants and their communal areas. We've also benefited from the children's clubs which, theoretically, include teen club offering activities for 13-17 year olds. Whilst this sounds great I always find they should do more for this group. The Cristina hotel didn't offer one activity for the "Eagle Camp" during our 10 day stay during the summer holidays. My son joined in one adult game of water volley ball during our stay but the young kids were allowed to join in that too. I love all ages getting involved but if you're a 6'5" 17 year old it's obviously good to have a competitive game too! I think that Iberostar need to offer at least one water activity a day for the Eagle Camp/ Adults during the school holidays. POOL The pool area here is really nice and we always got sun loungers at any point in the day. RESTAURANT We stayed B&B as we prefer going out for meals and the breakfast selection was nice and the restaurant is also a pleasant area. I did sometimes have to ask for English breakfast tea and wait a while whilst someone found some - first world problems I know but one that could easily be rectified if someone is responsible for keeping this area stocked (note for the hotel rather than future guests!!). ROOMS Lovely and clean with everything you would need. Nice view of the sea, though not sure it was worth the extra we paid. STAFF All the staff we interacted with were really friendly and helpful. I always find Iberostar employees to be really efficient and approachable. RESORT We've stayed at several resorts across Majorca and this is my least favourite. It felt like Magaluf for Germans. The hotel is far enough away that this doesn't need to be an issue, particularly if you are All Inclusive, but we enjoy walking out at night and it often involved walking past large groups of drunk people. I went to Magaluf twice when I was young but it's not somewhere I'd choose to go as a family, nor the German version! There are loads of nice restaurants all within walking distance though. El Patio is right next door to the hotel and we ate here a few times, nice food and good service. Al Faro beach is situated opposite the beach and we enjoyed lunch here most days. Really great food and fabulous service. Both these restaurants are nowhere near the hustle and bustle of the busier area. BEACH The beach looks beautiful and it's huge so loads of space. However, there was always an unpleasant smell of sewage which was off-putting! We will definitely stay at Iberostar again but we won't go back to Playa De Palma.

Expensive and not 4 star worthy, don’t recommend

We were very disappointed with this hotel. - Most of the staff speak to you in German or French and when we spoke English, we sometimes got blank stares back as they didn’t understand us. - They run out of certain dishes (for example sides like fries and rice) very quickly, because everyone goes for the same food, and they don’t restock, especially when it’s busy. - Tables aren’t cleared in time so if it’s busy and packed you won’t find a clean table to sit down at. - Cutlery and silverware was always dirty and you had to find ones that were clean. - The fridge in the room was old and useless. - We bought an apple juice for €3 one night and the glass was only filled 2/3 of the way, not to mention it was warm. The first night at dinner I was sat at the table by myself whilst my family was getting their food, I didn’t know how the drinks worked and an older waiter came over and was quite disrespectful. He persistently asked me my room number in German then French whilst I was eating and I replied in English once I swallowed my bite but he was very being very insistent. It was quite humiliating as people sat on the tables next to me were laughing at the whole interaction. We also booked 2 rooms online based on which room number we’d like so my family could stay next to each other. They sent us an email to let us know that they changed our room numbers and we then replied and only got a response back 2 days later. Considering this is a 4* hotel, we were extremely underwhelmed. We stayed in a 3* hotel last year that was much better than this.

    Looks 4-star but feels budget

We just returned from a three-week stay and I want to share the good, the bad, and the ugly. The Good: The entertainment team was great, especially the girls. Our baby absolutely loved the mini disco and Starky and Stella. Some staff truly stood out for their kindness, like Vero, Emma, and Cassia, who always took time to greet and interact with our baby. We also enjoyed the 20:30 live music in the bar. The Bad: We paid a €30 deposit for an iron, which we were fine with, but the one provided was dirty and unusable. Food was repetitive, almost the same every day, and it was very difficult to find anything suitable for a baby. Even simple, plain options like cooked broccoli and cauliflower or chicken/turkey were hard to come by. Vegetarians will struggle too: only sides, endless pasta, and no real variety. On top of that, food labeling was unclear and often incorrect, which makes it especially difficult for vegetarians or anyone with allergies. No soundproofing at all from the hallways. Sometimes housekeepers shouted in the hallway, even with a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door and other guests were even less considerate. The elevators were a constant frustration. Always occupied, often too long to wait with a stroller, and used by staff as well. One time it even stopped three times in a row, full of housekeepers with carts. We booked all-inclusive thinking it would make things easier with a baby, but it wasn’t worth it given the food situation. There were no activities specifically for 0–3-year-olds. The Kangaroo Club only held one activity during our entire stay, even though we were told it would be daily, with the explanation that “there wasn’t enough interest.” The Ugly: Our bed on the first night was unimaginably squeaky, to the point where we couldn’t move without risking waking the baby. It was adjusted the next day and it improved a bit, but it still squeaked enough that we had to be careful how to sit up and lie down. On top of that, it was pretty uncomfortable. The bathroom sink backed up with black grime and wouldn’t drain. Curtains were badly moldy. Shockingly, our baby slept next to them for nearly two weeks before we noticed. They were replaced the same day after we complained, but mold should never have been an issue in the first place. (also the whole place smelled moldy) The pans in the restaurant were in awful condition, with the Teflon coating completely peeled off. It’s a health hazard, those should be replaced the moment they’re scratched. I was even told the black flakes in my food were “pepper” but they certainly didn’t taste like it, and pans were not addressed. When we raised concerns about baby food, a manager invited us to create a simple menu, which we appreciated. But after I did, we were told it was “too detailed” and redirected to whatever was already on the buffet, like porridge, vegetables, or pasta with pesto. In practice, this meant nothing extra was offered, and since those items weren’t consistently available, the problem remained unresolved. Overall, the whole experience felt like a budget stay dressed up as a 4-star hotel. For the price we paid, we expected much better. Between the squeaky and uncomfortable bed, the sink clogged with grime, moldy curtains by our baby’s bed,, we honestly had the same experience in our first apartment rental, down to the mold problem, for far less money.

Percent amazing wonderful Hotel and staff

Waves Cristina is perfect on every single way. We checked in and accepted a lovely welcome drink on behalf of the hotel which was a lovely touch. The room, 378, is so comfortable and nice and bright and airy: The bed is so comfortable and the room is immaculately clean and very well maintained. The air con is at a perfect temperature and a nice balcony and 2 chairs with a garden view. Every single one of the staff members are so amazingly friendly and this is so nice for us both, There are so many areas to sit around and the building flows through perfectly, The breakfast is plentiful and really great. Every single room is decorated so amazingly with so much attention to detail, We are still staying at the hotel, until 12th September and feel very lucky and honoured to staying in this absolutely perfect and totally faultless hotel. It is perfectly located and only a 5 minute walk to a lovely beach and plenty to do so in an ideal location. There are rooms providing entertainment and something for everybody, There was a man singing and he was brilliant and so polite and friendly, an absolute pleasure to listen to, claps galore. We really have Never stayed in such a beautiful hotel ever before and will certainly recommend it to everyone we know: We had the best nights sleep ever, Waves Cristina deserves to be a 5* Rating as it’s so prefect and so welcoming and friendly, We can absolutely not thank or praise this Hotel enough, Thank you to every single member of staff for a perfect stay and we are so looking forward yo spending a further 10 nights with you, The Best hotel ever, thank you very much Great nights sleep

A great hotel, lovely and clean and fab staff.

Just returned from a lovely 4 night stay here. We had a family room for myself, 13 year old daughter and my mum. Room was really clean with a double balcony overlooking the pool. The room had a fridge but we had to ask for a kettle and some mugs so we could make a cup of tea in the morning (absolutely no problem though). The hotel is lovely and clean and the staff were always happy to help and looked happy to be there. The entertainment staff were absolutely brilliant, looked like they were always having fun and never too busy to stop and have a chat/say hello. We did a couple of the cocktail workshops and bingo in the afternoon and really enjoyed them as the entertainment staff were so entertaining! My daughter enjoyed the pool party, foam party, Acro aerobics and all the free inflatables/pool noodles from the recycling point at the back of the pool. We stayed half board and always found there to be a great selection of food, lots of freshly cooked to order options too. We appreciated the free glass of prosecco and chocolates on arrival, very welcome! Lots of lovely little touches that made the hotel special - free paella and sangria one lunchtime, nachos and Corona another time, staff handing out watermelon wedges around the pool. Hotel is about 3-4 minutes away from the beach so very accessible. There is a land train that can take you along the beach, lots of bars and shops to mooch around/get food shopping. We would definitely stay again!
