    Superb in every way...

We are currently on the 3rd day of our summer break with our kids ( 20 and 24 , and one of their partners ) . We have been regular Iberostar customers on Majorca over the last 10 years , but we're slightly sceptical that Play De Muro had been re-branded as the entry level Waves brand. However this couldn't be further from the truth. The building is possibly the best of the 7 we have stayed at , the location in town and on the beach is the best we have experienced , and despite coming at the latter end of the season the food , entertainment and quality and quantity of staff is second to non. Sat on the balcony of a mid priced room which overlooks the pool, the gardens and the sea is fantastic , and looking forward to another fabulous dinner and evening of Latin inspired entertainment. Superb job done by everyone at the hotel and looking forward to the rest of the stay.

    Fantastic hotel

We stayed here at this hotel last week as a Mum and Dad with an older child, special needs adult and 2 older generation and I can not fault it. The hotel check in was great it offered hot towels and chocolates on arrival. The staff were friendly and welcoming and there is also orange juice, champagne and water available. Our room was great 2 rooms interconnecting which gave us 2 bathrooms and 2 balconies. The room was spacious and had a great shower. Towels and cleaning was daily or you could get the safe free, if you had cleaning every other day. If you pay for the safe it was €3.00 per night. Food- we mainly ate breakfast and lunch in the buffet restaurant and they offered specialty evenings like Mexican, Chinese and a Spanish evening. There was plenty of choice of salads, cold meats, hot choice to cater for all, deserts and even a chocolate fountain a few evenings. There was table service in the evenings for dinner to get drinks. The staff were friendly and welcoming and could not help enough. It is good to interact with them as well which they enjoyed. There was a food truck by one of the pools serving burgers, chicken dishes and other items and next to that a bar. There is also a healthy corner where you could get salads, wraps and yoghurt etc also served soft drinks and water. If the weather was good then the restaurant overlooking the beach was open for lunch. Entertainment was so varied from foam parties, bingo, shows and quiz’s so much going on. Even a casino evening. The beach is great and accessed by a small gate it is shallow into the water not a wide expanse of sand but very nice. This hotel is made by the staff, how friendly and helpful they were. We would definitely return here.

    Our bad experience

I have very mixed feelings about my stay at the hotel. Every evening the plates were dirty and I couldn't choose a clean one. It happened every day. If you are not a local, you don't have priority when it comes to service. The hostess called herself a manager and handled my complaint about the service unprofessionally in front of all the guests. The staff were alerted to us and we were labeled as problematic. We were told this by employees who were of the same nationality as us. The hotel prefers so-called VIP guests. I would never return to the hotel again because of the service at lunch and dinner and would not recommend it to anyone. The staff is unprofessional and the hostesses are promoted to managers. The room service is also not well organized. At 7:00 in the morning you can hear the noise from the cleaning and it was impossible to sleep there at all. Quantity exceeds quality and that applies to everything. Food average unfortunately desserts from semi-finished products. Big disappointment

Not worth the hype - wouldn’t recommend unless you have a toddler and no sense of smell

Booked this hotel after reading all the good reviews for a four night stay early September. It was ok for a short stay but definitely did not meet our expectations. Plus points are cleanliness , nice beach and food was ok if you like a buffet each night with not much variation ( thank goodness we were only there four nights ) Down sides were the miserable staff. We felt like we were staying in a production line of visitors. Absolutely zero customer care , no smiles , scruffy uniforms , bar staff wiping their sweaty foreheads whilst preparing drinks - not good. A smile would go a long way in this place. Everyone seemed to be herded about into meals and back and forth to entertainment. Also the hotel was absolutely packed. Meal times were manic. Everyone had a toddler with them and the noise level was ridiculous. We tried to enjoy a peaceful evening drink several times but it was always spoilt by a screaming , over tired child. Food was just ok. Was buffet style - indoors only and lacked imagination. It’s a shame you can’t have a nice meal overlooking the beach as we thought we were going to - it’s just a massive school style dining room heaving with kids. Glad we were only there four nights otherwise we would have struggled. Rooms were clean but beds uncomfortable and we could hear everything going on in the surrounding rooms. Also there was a horrendous smell of drains in our room which we heard other guests complaining of too. Beds were so uncomfortable and bedlinen had some stains. Disgusting. The biggest disappointment was on checkout when we asked for late checkout due to our night flight from Palma. We were assured this would not be a problem. However , on checkout day we were told there were no rooms available to use but we could have a courtesy room. This courtesy room was absolutely disgusting. We had the quickest shower possible before leaving. It was dirty and absolutely stank. There was no air con and it was damp and stuffy. It was nothing short of a bad public loo. It tarnished our stay considerably. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel and we wouldn’t book again. They definitely need to be more welcoming and respectful to guests instead of coldly processing them through their time Spent here.

    Lovely family holiday

We have just returned from a 10 day holiday at this lovely hotel. We are a party of 8 with my mum having mobility issue and my daughter having coeliac disease so required additional attention. My mum needed a mobility scooter to get around and this was arranged prior to visiting with the assistance of Toni on reception. It was a life saver - meant my mum could join us in everything we done. The hotel was very accessible for my mum which was amazing. We arrived at the hotel before 3:00pm (check in) and luckily one of our rooms was ready so we able to go to the room to store all our luggage and get ready to go the pool. We had a few issues at the start of our holiday - one of our rooms was tiny (the one which needed to store the mobility scooter) and we had a few issues with ants but after speaking with reception, both were resolved swiftly and the rest of the holiday was perfect. My daughter was able to eat safely and happily without the worry of becoming ill. Special mention to Enrique & Carolina from the catering team who looked after my daughter and showed us what we could eat each day/night. The waiters and entertainment team were amazing. Very accommodating, always on hand and a real credit to the hotel. Some special mentions - Yun (waiter) & Mike (entertainment team) and the polish entertainer (really regret not getting her name). Fernando, who assisted with our luggage, was super lovely and helpful. Katy - the fabulous face painter. Leticia l, who is part of the guest service, was also super helpful too and kept checking in throughout our stay to make sure everything was still ok - it was really appreciated! The variety of food each day was great.. There was a different theme each night which was enjoyed by us all. There is a kids disco in the small pool every day from 5:15 which was ok but I think it would have attracted more kids if it was a little later prior to the quiz commencing at 8:30pm. There are a lot of mosquitos around the area so make sure you take lots of spray to protect yourself (although we used it and still got bit!!). On our last day, we got up early to watch the sunrise from the beach which was perfect. Overall, we had the best time and would really consider returning in the future. Thank you to everyone who made our holiday a success and a memorable time together x
