Intercontinental Fiji - Fabulous experience
This hotel was excellent.. From Check in, to included activities to check out. Our room plus the cleopatra bath was wonderful. The staff were so friendly and genuine, nothing was too much trouble. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel. The location of Natadola Bay was great - we had a beach walk every day. Snorkeling was good, just outside the hotel room. Food was excellent especially the buffet breakfast.

Highly recommended!
Our family had an amazing holiday at the Intercontinental in Fiji. The hotel is beautiful, with lovely rooms where every detail is carefully considered. Everything is comfortable, clean, and at a very high level. From the moment we arrived, every member of the staff was kind, friendly, and always ready to help. We have special religious restrictions, and the chef 🫡 and all the buffet staff went above and beyond for us every morning and evening. They made us feel welcome and comfortable, and they found creative ways to help us enjoy our meals. Their kindness and care made our experience outstanding, better than we ever expected.🙏 There are so many activities and shows for children, and our three kids loved every minute. We felt like part of a big family. Thank you to everyone at the hotel for making our stay so special. We will always remember your kindness, and we hope to come back again. We recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a wonderful, beautiful, and caring place for their holiday.👌👌👌 With much appreciation Wahnich family. By the way, for local and beach activities, I highly recommend Captain Sly. You can search for “Captain Sly’s island vibes” on Instagram. We did a tour with him to the cave, went snorkelling, visited a village, and fed the fish. It was a beautiful experience-safe, friendly, and a great way to support local people. The price is very affordable. I think everyone staying at this hotel should try a tour with Captain Sly and his lovely team. 😍

Better than we imagined
The Intercontinental was more amazing than we imagined. Flawless service, not like zombies, and the food was delish. Every request was answered with a yes and the beach was absolutely gorgeous (again better than I'd hoped) We have now moved to an island and I am missing the service and people so much! We had a pool club room, but next time would go a bit closer to the beach as we didnt use the pool or stay in the room as much as we thought we would. The cocktail hour at the club was a highlight and the afternoon tea was beautiful, a proper high tea. The fish was so fresh wherever we ate and the free water plentiful. I stocked up on pure fiji products at the spa it is so cheap! Thanks Intercon , we will be back!

A Mixed Experience: Great Beach; Lapses in Simple Services
A perplexing combination of 1.) a fantastic site, rightly recommended for body surfing on accessible beaches and 2.) lapses in service and quality that detracted from the stay. The rooms themselves are huge and comfortable. All have balconies and plenty of amenities. The pool area is nice, though short on lounge chairs. The sea in front of the pool and lounge chair area is dominated by a coral reef. Take the one hour free snorkel rental and explore the fish and nature! The beaches on either side of the coral are sandy and, depending on the tide and the algae, wonderful for riding the waves or just enjoying shallow, usually clear water. Virtually every hotel service, however, presented some needless challenge. The staff removed all of my belongings from my lounge chair by the pool while I was in the ocean, claiming I must have "forgotten them." A neighboring guest saw them removed and told me. It took inquiries to 4 staff members before they were "found". Not one of the meals was without a minor annoyance. Dinner tables must be "reserved" every night, and I did not get the reservation I wanted three nights in a row. There are zero options outside of the hotel. (A destination wedding got priority - understandable, but still a bummer). At each and every meal, multiple servers randomly came by the table to "take your order," which we had naively given to the first server who offered to take it. It took forever to get breakfast tea three mornings in a row. The "crab omelet" at the "upscale" ala carte breakfast restaurant contained exactly two very small strands of crab , was otherwise completely unspiced and was runny and, after I picked out the two inch-long crab strands I could find, inedible. Some of the other meals were better, but none really good, and prices for lunch and dinner are high. Housekeeping was also irregular. I had to call twice to have my dirty tea cups replaced (the housekeeper had failed to remove or replace them) and to get a bathmat towel, which disappeared after the first day and never re-appeared until I called (twice). I had also mentioned these housekeeping needs on the ipad provided in the room, allegedly interactive. This ipad request was after my first call but before my second. Neither the first call (via reception) nor the ipad work order were acted upon. The staff is so unfailingly friendly with effusive greetings -- Three different welcomers at three different stations shouted identical "Welcome Home!" greetings within two minutes of arrival before I even got to the check-in -- that it at times felt like a script rather than spontaneous love of visitors, especially when there seemed so little coordination among them aligned to customer needs e.g. the status of dining orders, housekeeping or who took my stuff from the lounge chair. None of these miscues spoiled a lovely time at the beach, but at the prices the Intercon is charging, paying more attention to the seamlessness and quality of services is a reasonable expectation.
