  Daniel is the best concierge ever!

  This is a great resort and easy to access from Texas. I will say that Daniel is the best concierge I have ever met. His attention to details is amazing! He is an amazing individual that actually listens to you and helps you with activities, food, and offers suggestions that are not at the resort. He is a treasure that the resort should award with the highest honor. Daniel truly makes this resort great.

  Great location and exceptional hospitality!

  For a quick 5 night anniversary getaway, we couldn’t have been happier with Mahekal. The beachfront location is also just steps from Quinta Avenida. Our palapa had a beautiful view of the ocean. But the best part of Mahekal is the incredible hospitality provided by the staff. Daniel with Concierge took great care of us in the months leading up to our visit and throughout our time in PDC. He was always quick to respond, very detailed and made sure our anniversary celebration was memorable. We also enjoyed a truly special wine tasting with Enrique, the sommelier at Mahekal. Enrique curated a wonderful experience, including a delicious cheese board, charcuterie, beautifully set table with an ocean view, and a selection of Mexican wines that were incredible! His wine education is impressive, and his tremendous passion hospitality made for a really personalized tasting event. Thank you Daniel, Enrique and the rest of Mahekal for a perfect anniversary getaway!

  Beautiful Property and Great Staff, but Front Desk Service Fell Short of Expectations

  We recently spent several nights at Mahekal Beach Resort and were impressed by the beautiful grounds, lovely beach, and overall relaxed atmosphere. The property is perfectly located — close to Playa del Carmen’s shops and restaurants yet peaceful and scenic. Most of the staff we interacted with were wonderful — warm, friendly, and eager to help. A special mention goes to Edgar from the activities team, who made poolside entertainment and water aerobics fun and engaging. However, our experience was significantly affected by how the front desk staff handled a few room-related issues. Our first Garden View Palapa was older and not close to our friends, so we requested to move. The second room was lovely, but unfortunately, we had a bat flying around inside one night, followed by more droppings on the bed the next. When we raised this with the front desk, we were surprised that even the manager on duty lacked the authority to make a meaningful room upgrade or offer suitable compensation without higher approval — not what one expects at a resort of this caliber. We were eventually moved to another room, which was acceptable but overlooked maintenance areas rather than a “garden view.” Later, we encountered another issue when we found stained bed sheets late at night. Despite assurances that housekeeping would come “in five minutes,” we waited over an hour before finally being told there was no staff available and were handed fresh sheets to change the bed ourselves. The front-line service at the desk simply did not match the otherwise excellent hospitality from the rest of the resort team. The property, restaurant staff, and setting were all great, and we genuinely wanted to love our stay — but the management structure and lack of empowerment at the front desk left us disappointed. We’d still recommend Mahekal for its beauty and charm, but with the hope that management addresses these service inconsistencies so future guests can experience the true five-star standard the resort aspires to deliver.

  Paradise!

  We both really loved this place! A hiddeng gem in the heart of playa. All the staff were really friendly and helpful. The entertainment team were great! From doing mexican art to teaching us batchata.

  Beautiful Resort and amazing staff!

  We had our wedding at the Mahekal. We are very happy that we chose to have it there. Laura our wedding planner did an excellent job making sure that our wedding went just like we wanted it. Daniel was our butler for the majority of our stay, and he was very helpful and really paid attention to the help that we needed during our busy weekend. The resort itself is just beautiful, and the entire staff makes you feel like you are at home there and part of their family. We will definitely be back!
