Disappointing food and rooms, helpful staff

My main takeaway was the disappointing food at every restaurant. Everywhere we went the food was lukewarm. It would also take hours to get served. We would be sat at dinner for 3 hours every night, and not because of conversation. Servers would have to be hunted down to refill waters. The rooms were pretty but not functional. The showers flood the bathroom floor, the bathtub wouldn’t plug properly leaving it constantly draining faster than it could fill, you can’t turn only one reading light on - it’s either both or none, in my family’s room the toilets wouldn’t stop flushing for 5 minutes every time you flushed it. The spa also messed up reservations we made. On the positive end- The entertainment staff is wonderful! I enjoyed dancing with Jesus, who was wonderful and gave us great information! The guacamole class is a do not miss! Best part! Ricardo and Alvaro are the best teachers ever! Will take this recipe home with me for guacamole! It was fairly empty so you could always find a chair or daybed at both the pools and the beach! The bar staff were friendly and made good drinks. The staff at the pools and beach were quick to help you move chairs and bring you drinks.

    Not for me!

Where do I begin? I really wanted to love this resort but there are just too many flaws that would prevent a revisit. When you arrive the hotel is mid size elegant and well laid out. The building is starting to show its age though in many ways with plumbing issues and deteriorating walls etc. I will start with the positive and then move on to the negative. Buffet service excellent servers though not hostesses. Hostesses at restaurants are like sergeants looking for any reason to deny entry! Eg. shoes that they think aren’t good enough or if you have a backpack with you! They need to get off their high horses and start treating guests with respect and dignity. Beach is nice but water is not clear due to sand in waves. I’ve seen and visited much nicer beaches! Aesthetics of room are nice but not practical. For example the bathroom is completely open to the rest of the room and it is almost impossible to use the bathroom especially at night without waking the entire room. Very hard to relax on toilet and do your business properly! Food was fine. Steakhouse was good. Italian was mediocre. Room service was average. Towels are unlimited Entertainment good Location wise was good Room service box was handy. Michael Jackson show good Snacks in fridge nice touch. Chairs are easy to get when it’s not high season. Temperature of room for our room was good but our other room was freezing. Could not adjust and had to turn it off on multiple occasions. Okay now for the bad! Internet horrible! Inconsistent. Constantly shuts off. Barely any wifi service on beach! They had very limited fruit! Not even mangos! People were piling fruit on their plates like a famine was coming because they never replenished fast enough. Toilet paper replenishment - everywhere it seemed needed refills on toilet paper including our room. Maid service - didn’t replenish properly and left room very dusty. Our vanity mirror was covered in dirt the whole week. One of our rooms could not get hand towels after asking multiple times. Water replenishment - again had to request almost daily Locks missing bathrooms in public areas. Lights missing in bathrooms near beach in stall. Stall was completely dark and the other stall the toilet was backed up and couldn’t flush! Toilets not flushing properly most areas and rooms! They have a major issue with the toilet flushing properly and the height of all the toilets in facility are made for giants! Loud mini bar fridge constant loud knocking and buzzing. Shower water pressure - horrible! Took an hour to rinse hair and still had soap in it Kids everywhere screaming loudly including strollers dominating the buffet areas and around the campus. Glass door toilet with large gap and very loud squeak when opening and closing! Impossible to do your business in private No coffee shop! Only lobby bar which opens at 7am. Could not get a 6am coffee on the family side! Small pool Mosquitos! Got 16 bites in one night during Mexican night in courtyard. They need to spray for mosquitoes and or bring show inside where you don’t get eaten alive! Good food would not get replaced eg. Kiwi. Once it was eaten they wouldn’t replace it! No bathrooms on beach. Had to walk near buffet. No double beds forced to sleep on king even though it states they are available. Room is not quite thin walls- you can hear your neighbours doing things you wouldn’t want to hear and the constant slamming of hotel doors! To top it all off we had to leave the hotel very early morning and we ran to buffet to grab a bite before our transfer arrived and they forbade us to enter with our rolling backpacks! This is the first resort in over 40 resorts I have visited that banned me from entering with my small backpack! Yet all over the buffet were extra large strollers parked everywhere and in front of the food stations. This resort needs some serious customer relations training! They seem to have no idea how to make the customer happy who have spent their hard earned money to have a relaxing pleasant vacation! They just want to deny guests entry to restaurants based on their footwear choices or whether or not they packed a pair of pants or jeans! They definitely need to take a step back on how highly regarded they see themselves. Do yourself a favour and find a resort that respects you as a guest and the money you spent to enjoy a relaxing vacation. This one wasn’t it unfortunately.

    Worst All Inclusive.

We stayed at the Majestic Elegance from December 16th - December 23rd. Most of the staff were helpful for the most part. Katia was great and did her best to make sure we were comfortable during our stay. Beautiful Beach, Grounds are well kept. The food was horrible. Everything had either no flavour, was stale or tasted fake. The pizza and lasagna tasted like they were made with Cheez-Whiz. Nothing wrong with Cheez-Whiz lol, we just expected more granted how much we paid to be here. We have done other All Inclusives before and know the food is never really great, But this was by far the worst food we have ever had. There was A LOT of mold in our room, Instead of cutting out the mold it appears they simply paint over it. We both ended up getting sick, And exponentially worse when in the room. We actually slept outside for the last two nights in order to get a good nights sleep. Upon further research, painting over the mold seems to be a common practice on the resort. This is unacceptable and not at all what we had expected given how much money we spent to be here. We were sick and uncomfortable for more than half of our stay. (4/7 days) Without a room we could properly rest and recover in. Being stuck in an uncomfortable room while unwell completely defeated the purpose of booking a resort in the first place. Staff are good people for the most part. The staff in the dinner buffet were rather rude and unprofessional. We felt they picked and chose who the dress code applied to. On more then one occasion there was a male staff member who told the hosts not to let us in because I was wearing crocs. These were the only slippers i had brought on the trip and i absolutely was not going to spend anymore money on this resort to eat Cheez-Whiz lasagna. So naturally I look around and start pointing out all the seated guests in crocs. The staff member walked away abruptly without addressing the situation, as if we were not worth his time or didnt deserve to be there. Upon further research, and reading other peoples reviews this isnt the first time hes done this. Completely unacceptable, And a great to person to have representing your company. I understand if there’s a dress code, but it should be enforced consistently, not selectively. The way it was handled made us feel undervalued, like we weren’t worthy of your stale, flavourless food. I would not stay here again or at any resort under the majestic chain. We feel the same money spent here couldve given us the experience we were looking for else where.

    I would visit again!

I stayed at Majestic Elegance December 13-20, 2025. Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite, room 1302 Club side. I would 100% recommend this resort to someone looking to visit Cancun and wants to enjoy some perks without spending a million dollars. I visited with my husband and found it a perfect setup for a romantic time together. Our Butler Alejandro was wonderful. He Updated us daily with all activities happening at the resort, set up our jacuzzi for us, and when I asked for gingerale instead of sprite, was able to hunt some down for me. He was very friendly and welcoming and definitely added to our liking of the resort. I believe I traveled during the “sweet spot” as there was always a place around the pool and beach to sit in the shade. I never had to reserve a place to lay! The pools were clean, and depending on the sun, you could go in one pool for cold water, or another pool and have it warm. Beach was A+!! No (or hardly any) seaweed and the sand was just beautiful. It was windy most days which provided a perfect breeze and created some fun mini waves to jump through/ body surf. The food was great. Definitely some of the best I have experienced from a resort. Go to the steakhouse! The food is amazing. Ask to sit in Diegos section. He was our waiter and was so open and friendly, having a good conversation with us before our meals. At the main Flavors buffet, Miguel was the best. Again, spent that little bit of time to say Hello to us and shared a laugh with us. Such a good experience. Other things to mention- Drinks were great! And they were able to give me less alcohol and my husbands more. They really listen to you. All the workers smiled and said hello. Maids always had the room looking wonderful when we came back from being out. Room service came on time and was usually the perfect temperature. Once we had food not quite as warm as we would have liked (busy time I’m guessing). One negative from the trip is that the room has some “wear and tear”. But having said that; Everything was CLEAN. Which really matters more to me. And the fact that I saw workers constantly repairing/painting/picking up, I do not think the wear was from lack of trying. I can just imagine how hard it would be to fix a room when people are always staying in them. We did not watch all of night entertainment as it started at 9pm and we were coming from a time difference. Was hard to stay up for all of it! But from what we saw, we really enjoyed them! I think when traveling it’s important to have a positive mind-set. I didn’t have to cook, clean, or look after my kids. How could anything not be awesome?! I would definitely stay here again. And I would even bring my kids after seeing their Teen Room. My kids will love that space!!
