Great Stay With Some Standout Moments – But a Few Oddities

We recently stayed at Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres and overall had a really enjoyable experience. We’d give it 4 stars. High points: The 24-hour gym was fantastic — clean, equipped, and a huge perk for anyone who likes the flexibility to work out whenever they choose. The buffet was a standout, offering a great variety across all three meals. The staff there were consistently lovely: attentive, friendly, and genuinely happy to help, which made every visit feel welcoming. A great bonus was the club lounge, which became one of our favourite spots. It was perfect for grabbing drinks and snacks throughout the day, and a wonderful place to cool down and escape the heat and occasional downpour. The swim-up bar staff were also excellent. They had a great sense of humour and delivered consistently fantastic service — they really made our pool days fun and relaxed. Restaurants: We visited the steakhouse twice — the first visit was exceptional, while the second was just okay. Unfortunately, the Mexican restaurant was a disappointment. Our greeting was confrontational and order was completely wrong, and what we did receive felt quite average. It has great potential, but it just didn’t hit the mark for us. Service: A special mention to Enrique, our butler, who was incredibly attentive throughout the stay. He checked in regularly and was always willing to help with anything we needed. Areas for improvement: The dress code felt inconsistent and, at times, quite bizarre. I was questioned about wearing “flip flops” even though I was clearly in classic leather sandals with a summer dress — meanwhile, guests dining in what I’d compare with gym attire, hiking outfits, tracksuits, and Birkenstocks were absolutely fine. Birkenstocks seem acceptable, yet my classic leather sandals were queried. It made the interaction feel unnecessary and left me uncomfortable. Like many beach resorts, the rooms are beginning to feel a little tired, with some obvious touch-ups. Additionally, it would be helpful if the bar menus reflected the drinks actually available at each bar, rather than using the same generic menu everywhere. Overall: Despite a few quirks, we had a lovely stay with some real highlights. With a bit more consistency and attention to detail, Majestic Elegance Costa Mujeres has the potential to be truly exceptional.

    Ok stay

We went with friends and family for a wedding. The wedding was wonderful. Lets start with the pros...the food was awesome! We ate at all the restaurants except the bistro. All the food was great, especially the Mexican. Definitely give it a try. The buffet and The Mar buffet had great selections. Something for everyone. The rooms were nice, but ours had a broken lamp and a cracked sink. Otherwise, quite nice. The beach was clean and spacious, but the water was weedy. No big deal. Because the resort isn't around too much, you didn't have locals on the beach selling items. I kinda missed that. For drinks, go see Valentine at the pool bar or Hugo at the tiki bar outside of The Mar by the beach. These 2 were amazing. Great drinks, funny and happy to be there. Tipped them quite a bit. The entertainment wasn't bad, just not a lot of it. The Queen tribute was great!! Now for the cons...this is the first time we've travelled and barely tipped! 95% of the staff seemed as if they didn't want to be there. No one was happy! This includes bartenders, with the exception of Hugo and Valentine. There weren't persons as servers/bar backs. In the lobby, we cleared our own glasses, and some others as well. Even at the pool, on the lower level or at the upper infinity pool, no staff. Just one bartender at each to provide for all the guests. The lobby bar had 2 persons there, but again, not great. I even had a bartender tell me they had no Malibu rum and then conveniently found a bottle! The is a piano in the upper lobby area that nobody touched once in a week. The only music we heard was at the pool and quietly in the lobby area. There were weddings every day we were there. Randomly, restaurants would be closed for whatever reason. This includes the buffet. The only way to know what was open was to go to the lobby and scan a QR code. There was no daytime entertainment either. We were on the family side and didn't see anything fun happening anywhere!! Very strange. The resort location is away from everything. Meaning you can't walk and go any where. You need a shuttle or uber etc. Lets not forget about your bracelet. The bracelet is for your room access. So you scan your door with the bracelet to enter. Very cool, however, if you lose it or forget to return it, its a $90 USD charge. Don't forget to return it and don't lose it! Once the "evening entertainment" was over, there was nothing to do. Most of the bars were closed down for the night so that leaves you with not a lot to do. Also very weird. For a resort of their size, there didn't seem to be many guests. The beach was empty most days so easy to find a chair. Overall, it was expensive for our experience, but lovely for a wedding.

    Great all inclusive resort

I have been to various all inclusives and I would absolutely return to this resort. We stayed on the club side. There were always plenty of chairs and shade no matter if you wanted to stay at the pool or go to the beach. Everyone was friendly. The butler we had was very kind. We didn't really need much help, but was nice to know he was there to assist us. Food was good and the entertainment was fun. There were a lot of different bars to go to and the drinks were good. There is an app that makes it easy to find both food menus but the different drinks that each bar specializes in.

Majestic week at the Majestic Elegance

The resort was excellent. The entertainment was amazing and attentive. Frida was one of the entertainer who always made sure to stop and say hi. She also never stop dancing during entertainment, such as the White night. The casino night was great, my mom was the big winner at the Roulette and everyone was so nice. The tepanyaki was entertaining and the chef was friendly and cracking jokes. Definitely recommend this resort.
