    Simply fantastic stay

Mango Bay is a hidden gem in Virgin Gorda. The property is beautiful and Mary Beth, Lenny and the whole staff were wonderful to work with. The drawback of not having on site dining was far outweighed by Lenny and Mary Beth cooking dinner for us one evening at the villa., which was incredible. It feels like you have your own private beach and the units were clean, modern and well maintained. As a note, there is no air condition in the living room, but the bedrooms had great air conditioning. We really didn't have much use for the living area as we sat on the lanai staring at the incredible view the majority of the time anyway...We absolutely loved Mango and plan on returning next time to time we travel to BVI. Thank you to Mary Beth and Lenny for making us feel welcome and like long time friends...Cheers!

    Great spot to stay

This was a lovely spot to stay. It is in a beautiful bay with nice swimming and is a small , quiet resort with beautiful rooms. The staff are excellent and were incredibly helpful when our taxi did not show up and we were going to miss the ferry (tip- book it for well in advance!); that really went above and beyond. There are plans to make a restaurant onsite which is great because you do need to arrive with food as there is none available nearby. Not a big deal unless you don't know that and arrive without a car. Would definitely stay again.

Great situation right on the beach

Quiet resort with 17 properties - It's not so much a resort as there are no dining, bar, gym or any resort socialising, you are self contained in your accommodation. We booked the last available unit for seven nights which was a small one bed apartment with a small kitchenette although not really a dining in facility if that's your thing, and a double shower room. Small but functional with a king bed and aircon directly above the bed, small dining table and two chairs and also one lounge style seat. There is also a wall mounted TV. There is no outside seating area just the beach or the pool at the rear of the grounds (mosquito's here in numbers at dusk!) The best properties for positioning are without doubt those on the front line with indoor and outdoor seating and directly on the beach. The resort provide kayak's, paddle boards and snorkel/mask/flippers, and Mary Beth the property owner couldn't have been more helpful. Setting, views and beach are magnificent and we hardly ever saw anyone else on the beach. It's only ten minutes by car from Spanish town. Downside was not having an outdoor area at the apartment, the lack of restaurant/bar/gym facilities and the housekeeping/maintenance could have been better. Internet was variable until is was reset. Mary Beth said they were building two restaurants that would be open next year. She is also aware of the housekeeping issues and i'm sure these will be sorted out.

    OK, but manage your expectations!

Mango Bay Resort was a quite unusual experience. There is a lot to unpack, so if you're thinking of staying here, you might want to stick with me for a minute. First "Resort" is a bit generous... There is no bar, or restaurant, or any kind of food service. No stores or shops, no spa services, nor are any of these things within walking distance. There is a pool, and a good amount of water toys for both pool and beach, and the charming proprietor, Mary Beth, and the killer water view. Mary Beth is working hard to get a bar and reaturant on property, and that would make a huge difference. We were in the 2 bedroom Beachfront Villa... so one of thier higher end options. The upside is these villas, as you can see in the photos, are incredibly close to the water, with breathtaking views. The other side of that coin is that the folks walking and hanging out on the beach are close enough to chat with from your porch, so not a great sense of privacy when you are outside if other people are near you on the beach. The unit itself was just plain strange. There are two bedrooms and two baths... but both baths were outside the bedrooms, adjacent to each other in a hallway. The kitchen and the dining table were outside on the porch, so shooing away flies was part of any food prep, but the refrigerator was inside, in a corner of the living room, with no counter or table nearby... so even making a sandwich entailed a lot of back and forth. The outdoor kitchen can be closed off with screened doors when not being used, which helps with the flies. The no-see-ums and flies are no worse than anywhere else right on the water, but they will be there - just keep some Off handy if they get pushy. The main bedroom was nicely sized, great closet and dresser, and nicely cooled by the A/C (which was in both bedrooms), but our bed was not good. A single coil spring matress on a slat platform. And it was well past it's expiration date, with plenty of dips and and squeaks. At $800 a night, I expect a really comfortable bed. The 2nd bedroom was tiny, so tiny it had no dresser, and the closet was not in the bedroom, but out in the common hall area, which made things a bit awkward. Bathrooms were acceptable, except for the shower set up. I promise you Motel 6 has better towels, soap and shower condiments. And what I don't understand is this is the cheapest thing to get right. Get a few refillable containers of body wash, shampoo and conditioner, invest in some fluffy towels, and this becomes a selling point instead of an embarrassment. I mentioned the pool, and it is nice. Seems new... not huge, but very pleasant... same depth everywhere (I think about 5 feet). It is located towards the back of the property, so no water view from the pool, but we spent some very relaxing hours floating there. I know it sounds like I'm breaking bad here, but we had a nice stay, Mary Beth found us a great driver to take us to dinner each night (Shout out to Clennell!). It's a solid 3 stars... but it's not elegant or luxurious, even at the top end. If the accomodations and the access to dining ever rose to the level of the view - watch out!

Excellent resort with the BEST manager, Mary Beth!

We just returned from a wonderful week after staying at this resort. Mary Beth was awesome in making sure we were comfortable. We booked our reservation just a few months before traveling but couldn't get an oceanfront room so we were at the back of the complex which was great too. On the day of our anniversary, I asked Mary Beth if anyone had checked out because I wanted to surprise my husband for the last 2 days staying in a beachfront room and she was able to find one that had just become available. Not only did she check for availability, she and her husband actually moved ALL of our stuff while we were at another beach for the day so I could surprise my husband when we returned. We arrived to find two chocolate cupcakes and a nice bottle of wine with a sweet card and fresh flowers! She always went above and beyond to take care of any of our wishes promptly. The complex is very well situated and private although the buildings are connected. The design of this resort is awesome. We had everything we needed and the beachfront units are definitely the way to book your trip! We definitely want to return to this island and hope we can plan ahead earlier in order to get one of these spectacular units but if not the others are great too.
