Beautiful quiet hotel on the ocean
Mar del Cabo is a quiet, beautiful boutique hotel next to Grand Villas hotel. The rooms are very modern with 180 degree view of the ocean and accommodating staff. Much less expensive than Grand Villas. Access to all the restaurants in the Villa. Only problem is many stairs. Not suitable for disabled customers.

The Unequalled Charm and Magic of Mar del Cabo
There is nothing quite like Mar del Cabo. Located between two other beautiful, larger, and more modern Velas Resorts, Mar del Cabo tumbles down to the Sea of Cortez along a winding path overhung with pink bougainvilleas. It is cozy. It is peaceful. And it is so incredibly special. It's not a gleaming all-inclusive. The twenty-five or so beach chairs are rarely full. The staff will likely remember your name after they meet you for the first time. The grounds are quiet by 9pm. It is romantic and small and perfect for those who like the feeling of having a whole resort to themselves. We stayed stayed at Mar del Cabo last week from December 24th through December 28th, 2025. We'd stayed here once before, in April 2021, during the Covid pandemic. That visit, during a time of uncertainty and isolation, was one of the best vacations we’ve ever had. We often share the details of that trip with our friends and have long looked forward to returning. We chose Christmas week this year, excited to enjoy the magic of Mar del Cabo during the holidays. The resort was as beautiful, welcoming, and relaxing as we remembered. From the moment we checked in, we were reminded that one of Mar del Cabo’s greatest strengths is its people. The staff is absolutely superb in every way. Everyone is incredibly kind, warm, and thoughtful. And they work so well together as a team. Our sense is that the staff is like one big family, which speaks volumes about the customer service ethos at Velas Resorts. We were, once again, so happy to be a part of that Velas family where everyone greets you with a smile and by your name. Our spacious room was in the same building as the check-in-- on the top floor with a view all the way to the beach and ocean below. It was beautifully appointed and slightly more modern than the other rooms on the property that are part of the original grounds. The bed was very comfortable and we we loved waking up to the peek of a sunrise through the sliding glass doors. The walk from to our room to the restaurant Encanto and to the beach was the longest possible (182 steps!) but we felt that the view from the room and the balcony was worth the effort. The walk itself was always relaxing-- the smell of paper flower bougainvilleas and a sea breeze with us all along the beautifully tiled path. The service and food at Encanto was exceptional. The complimentary continental breakfast buffet had a variety of breads, fruits, pastries, and yogurt. Eggs to order with bacon and hash browns was also included. Our servers, Eufracia and Rosaunda remembered our names and drink preferences after the first morning. Of the four nights we stayed at the resort, we ate dinner at the restaurant three times and were never disappointed. Miguel and Sergio were happy to offer their menu suggestions and provided friendly, exceptional service. During the day, the pool and beach were popular but not too much so. Beach chairs were always available, either on the pool deck or on the beach itself. And the staff took wonderful care of care of us without hovering. During the holiday, the resort had a pop-up DJ / Pool Bar / Ceviche station event. The vibe was absolutely perfect and Oscar and Sergio took tremendous care of everyone. Evenings at the resort were quiet, with a few guests sitting around the fire pit on "the point" and watching the sunset. No huge late night parties while we were there. Just tranquility. When we spoke with our friends on the staff they shared with us how much they love working at Mar del Cabo. Many of them had worked at other resorts and they talked about the magic of this place: how it has a certain original charm and how it feels like the guests and staff interact as one big family. These are the same reasons that we love Mar del Cabo. And we hope that, despite the enormous business pressure that must exist to expand the neighboring modern-style resorts onto Mar del Cabo grounds, the resort remains as it is—a unique and treasured gem in the Velas portfolio. Mar del Cabo is such a wonderful place. It has a charm and intimate feel like no other resort in the area and is one of those few places where we feel fully relaxed the moment we step on the property. We often describe the resort as having a “village-like” feeling: walking from our room to the restaurant and beach down that perfectly manicured path, surrounded by the pink flowers, white and blue tiles, and lovely architecture. And in that village, where we are greeted with smiles everywhere we go, we feel not like guests but like members of an extended family who are thrilled to see us again. Mar Del Cabo continues to be our favorite resort and we hope it retains its charm, magic, and spirit for many years to come. To anyone considering a stay here, really... look no further. And to ALL at the resort who worked so (seemingly) effortlessly to make our stay so wonderful this holiday season, thank you for all that you did. We so appreciate you.

Amazing place
This is our second visit to Mar del Cabo because we loved it the first time too. The hotel is quaint and quiet. We love enjoying a spicy margarita on the beach watching the whales. Unbelievable views and so relaxing. The staff is fabulous and helpful. We also enjoyed the option of going next door to eat dinner at 2 different restaurants (Vela 10 and Lucca). Both restaurants were amazing with beautiful views. Sit on the patio if you can.

An Authentic Escape We Keep Returning To
Mar del Cabo is truly a special place. We’ve stayed here multiple times and love visiting in December — it’s quiet, peaceful, and perfectly located close to both San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas without feeling busy or touristy. One of our favorite memories is being able to see whales right from the beach, and even getting to witness baby sea turtles during our stay. Moments like that make this place feel magical and deeply connected to nature. What really sets Mar del Cabo apart, though, is the staff. Oscar, Miguel, Sergio, Eufracia, and Rosaura remembered who we were each time we visited and were consistently kind, attentive, and thoughtful in every detail. That level of care makes you feel genuinely welcomed, not just like another guest. The property itself is beautiful — luxurious without being over-the-top. It feels elegant, calm, and still authentic, not like a generic resort. If you’re looking for a peaceful, intimate stay with incredible service and a true sense of place, Mar del Cabo is it. We can’t wait to come back.

Tull family vacation
Best trip ever with my family. Sergio, Oscar, Daniel, Miguel, rosaura and eufracia, Alejandro, Roxana, every person that works here is amazing. So attentive, kind, fun, and made sure every day was a breeze. I cannot say nice enough things about the staff most importantly, but the property, housekeeping, views, and food were incredible. I will be coming back every year
