A better all-inclusive option
All-inclusive properties are difficult to judge due to how they try to make a profit. There is constant tension between clients wanting “their money’s worth” and the property not wanting to provide “too much” and lose money. Since an all-inclusive cannot really control booze consumption, the most typical way to cut costs is with food quality. The Cancun Marriott was one of the pricier all-inclusive properties I researched. We chose this resort because we had a fantastic time at the JW Marriott next door the previous year, and we hoped that the extra expense of Cancun Marriott would translate to a better overall experience than other all-inclusive properties we have previously stayed at. We were also traveling with a teenager and desired meal flexibility and looked forward to not paying $20 per mixed drink - both key benefits of all-inclusive model. The Cancun Marriott property is very attractive - especially the indoor common areas. The resort never looked neglected. The pool area is nice, but not special. Like too many resorts, you will need to wake up early for chairs. The resort also has an inexcusable policy of only giving a person 2 towels at a time. This means one person cannot get towels for the entire family - but if you walk back 2 minutes later, you can get more towels - crazy. The beach has nice soft sand, but there are also some large rocks in the water. Swimmers will need to walk 50-80 ft in either direction to avoid the rocks. I think when the surf is calm, the rocks are no issue since we saw many swimmers. Overall, we liked the beach, but just sat by the pool all trip. Our room was very nice, but I paid quite a bit for a suite with a separate area for a teenager to sleep. On a bad note, the HVAC was very loud when it turned on. All bars had prompt service and we never had to wait long for drinks. The service overall was excellent. As always, Mexican hospitality was exceptional. The breakfast buffet was what one would expect for a full service Marriott. The Casa Madre and Hana restaurants served breakfast (both have dinner too). The buffets at each were identical, but we preferred eating at Casa Madre. Overall, breakfast was very nice. The lunch options near the pool were very good. I really liked the ceviche bar (get the raw tuna tostada) and the taco bar was tasty too. We felt the pizza was average, but it was quite popular with many guests, so we may have too high expectations for pizza. Other typical lunch options like fruit, fries, and burgers could be ordered. I would say the resort had a very good approach to serving guests lunch while staying outdoors by the pool. So, let’s talk about dinner now. Overall, I would say all our dinners were definitely good enough, but nothing memorable. At the same time, they did not create any negative feelings. Our first night we dined at Toscanni, the Italian restaurant, which was alright, but it made me think about how much better the great Italian restaurants we went to last year were — Parole right across the street and Gustino at the JW. In fact, we ate at Gustino for NYE this year even though we had to pay for it. The next night we ate at Delphina, which is billed as the Mediterranean restaurant. The menu had many meal styles including Greek and Italian items. Our table was looking out at the ocean, which was nice. Diners enjoyed the mussels appetizer, salmon entree, and clams linguine. However, the pork loin was a big miss, and that diner would up eating some bar food at Champions - room service would have been better. We found the Hana restaurant was a good choice for entrees. The Szechuan ribs and seared tuna were enjoyable while the starters were average. Casa Madre is the Mexican restaurant for dinner (in addition to being a breakfast spot). This was my favorite restaurant even though I often think of Mexican food back in the U.S. as a quick and inexpensive meal. For an appetizer, two of us had a sliced Mexican cheese slightly grilled and garnished with balsamic vinegar. I thought the tortilla soup was very good and really enjoyed my entree of braised beef served in corn tortillas with a dipping sauce. So, this review may seem “mixed”, but that is part of the bargain with all-inclusive resorts. They require different expectations from the traveler. That being said, Cancun Marriott was better than 3 all-inclusive resorts I have stayed at previously and was worth the higher cost. I would definitely stay here again. Some more travel notes … for some reason taxi or shuttle service from the airport to the hotel is always a hassle with delays or messed up reservations. Getting from the hotel to the airport is so much easier without even reserving transportation - and it always costs less. This is our 2nd trip in two years and checking luggage and getting through security was very efficient and fast. Lastly, bring cash to tip the resort staff, or ask for blank bills to leave tips. At all=inclusive resorts, the staff works very hard and tipping can be an afterthought, but should not be.

Overall good, but look elsewhere if you prioritize the beach.
I am lifetime titanium and paid for 2 ocean view rooms with cash and points. It was a production to get them to actually reserve these as adjoining and even when we showed up it was not guaranteed. The rooms were far back with barely any view.. we looked at the water slide. Rooms are standard small Marriott rooms. Food was overall good, but not on par with a hotel like Grand Fiesta Americana. Much has been written about the food, I’ll just say that the burgers were almost inedible at Mos.. for some reason the burgers are better elsewhere in the hotel. Drinks were very good, not watered down and decent quality. The biggest problem is the beach. They have a very few number of cheap worn out chairs and half-broken palapas placed next to a concrete wall. It feels like a Holiday Inn once you step foot on the beach. There was also a very steep sand drop off, at least when we were there, making visibility of the water difficult as you sit next to the concrete wall. If you care about the beach, you’re better off somewhere else.

A Truly Memorable Family Stay — Thoughtful Service from Start to Finish
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Truly Memorable Family Stay — Thoughtful Service from Start to Finish We stayed here over the holidays with our family and young children, and the experience exceeded our expectations. The resort itself is beautiful, but what truly made our stay exceptional was the staff — consistently warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our experience memorable. Even before we arrived, we felt incredibly well taken care of. A special thank you to Joan, our Ambassador, and Felipe, the concierge who assisted us pre-check-in. Both were responsive, helpful, and proactive in the days leading up to our stay, helping coordinate details and setting the tone for a smooth and stress-free arrival. Once on property, Daniella, the front desk concierge, truly went above and beyond in helping us celebrate our daughter Alicia’s birthday. During an extremely busy holiday week, she helped secure last-minute teppanyaki dinner reservations, coordinated a balloon garland, and assisted with arranging a photo shoot. Her calm, thoughtful approach made what could have been a stressful situation feel effortless. She played a huge role in making our daughter’s birthday unforgettable. Another standout was IzamAr, who helped us frequently throughout the week. She consistently ensured our kids were comfortable, welcomed us warmly each day, and paid close attention to small details that made a big difference for our family. Her kindness and attentiveness never went unnoticed. We would also like to sincerely thank Jesus (cabana service), Herivierto, Victoriano, and Rogelio (breakfast service), Fausto (Casa Madre), Elio (Italian restaurant), Carlos (morning bartender), and Brenda (hostess). Each of them delivered friendly, attentive, and professional service and made us feel welcome every single day. Tips for Future Travelers • Casa Madre is a must, especially for breakfast. It quickly became our go-to spot thanks to its excellent buffet and more traditional Mexican options. We also had dinner there one evening and found it to be equally strong — a great option any time of day. • Plan ahead for Japanese dining. Both Japanese restaurants are popular and reservations can be difficult to secure, particularly during busy weeks. We were able to try both and personally preferred the sushi experience over teppanyaki, though both are worth trying if you can get in. • Don’t skip Mo’s Diner in the lobby. Mo’s was much better than we had been led to expect. We tried several burgers and milkshakes throughout the week and everything was excellent — an easy, reliable option for a casual meal or quick bite. • Pool and beach seating can be competitive — consider a cabana. Like most all-inclusive resorts, chairs can be hard to come by unless you’re up early. For us, the all-day cabana rental (around $500) often ended up being the best option — guaranteed seating, shade, attentive service, and far less stress. Especially worth it when traveling with kids. It’s rare to encounter a resort where so many individuals leave a lasting impression, but this team truly did. Thank you to everyone who helped make our holiday stay and our daughter’s birthday so special. We’re incredibly grateful and look forward to returning.

Pack your bag with Probiotics and anti diarrheial drugs before you visit this place.
We stayed at this hotel from December 23rd to December 29th. Overall, the property had a great ambience and a vibrant environment, which we truly appreciated. However, we encountered a serious issue: out of six people in our group (two families), four experienced gastrointestinal problems—diarrhea, stomach pain, and vomiting—for nearly two days. This was extremely disappointing, especially considering we paid $8,000 for our stay. We expected high standards of hygiene from a brand like Marriott, and this experience fell far short. Unfortunately, this seems to be a broader issue in Cancun, as local pharmacies were heavily stocked with GI and probiotic medications far more than I’ve ever seen in the U.S. This raises concerns about food safety in the area. Lesson learned: we will avoid Mexico for future vacations unless there is a clear improvement in hygiene standards.
