Oct 31, 2025Our First Fall Visit
We’ve been to this resort many times in the past, but never in the Fall. We usually go late March into early April. We’ve been to other southern destinations, including other locations in Cuba. MJ is our favourite by far. We very much enjoy the location, tucked between a large hill and the sea. The resort feels safe and secure. It is worth one’s while to explore the area around the resort. There are campgrounds on either side, easily within walking distance. Just up the road are a handful of Cuban homes, a few of which offer souvenirs and dining opportunities. Generally speaking, the resort has a quiet, laid back vibe, perfect for relaxing in the sun and sea. This having been our first visit in the Fall, we were a little surprised to see a few differences from our usual Spring visit. First of all, the resort was probably no more than 30% full. That, of course, was to be expected, given the fact that winter has not yet settled in throughout Canada and Europe. The majority of the guests this time were local Cubans, who appear very much to prefer the pool to the beach. The upside of the reduced numbers was that there were no line ups anywhere. The buffet, à la cartes, bars, and beach were all easily accessible. The weather, as always, was amazing. Although the humidity was higher than you would typically find in the Spring, a stiff breeze each day made things quite comfortable. The food on offer this time was perhaps among the best we’ve experienced at MJ. The hamburgers at the beach bar were delicious. The highlight of each day was, as always, Nelson’s eggs. Two eggs, over easy. He remembers from year to year. Anyone who has been to MJ will tell you that it is the staff who truly make the resort a special place. Many have been there since opening in 1999. They are some of the kindest, most generous people you will find anywhere. We’ve been home for just a few days, and we already miss their hugs and kisses. They cannot do enough for you. Another advantage to the resort not being full, was that staff really had the time to interact with the guests. They really do make you feel at home here. We are booked to return in March. We are very much looking forward to our next visit. Just five months to go.

Beautiful Hidden Gem of a Resort
Just came back from our first visit to Cuba and we are honestly in love with the country, greatly due to the staff at Memories Jibacoa. We were made to feel so welcome during our stay, the atmosphere was perfect for us, relaxing with as much activity as we wanted. The food was delicious, our room was so clean, and we loved the cats that were around the property. Special shoutout to Marcos and his lovely voice and personality. We can't wait to come back again and we are telling everyone we know about our experience <3

Hidden Gem
We have travelled all over Cuba, almost 40 trips, 2 star to 5 star, and, we always find ourselves drawn back to this lovely resort. The caring staff, the breathtaking grounds, the amazing snorkeling, the abundance and variety of food, the top notch entertainment, make us feel like we are returning home each visit. The hotel is older, with the rooms being in the process of upgrading. Very clean, comfortable beds, good quality towels and linens. The hotel is not large, which makes it very accessible for everyone. We have stayed in the Garden, Pool and Oceanview rooms. All have beautiful views. The buffet has lots of options: prepared and ready to grill your choice of meat or fish, a good variety of vegetables, cheese, deli meat, pizza, pasta, omlette station, and the breads and desserts are simply amazing. The a la cartes are unique and go above and beyond, presenting delicious plated meals, often being very creative to work around shortages of food supplies. The Jibacoa location is perfect for travelers interested in taking a day trip to Havana or Varadero. The staff is probably the hotels biggest asset. To be welcomed each trip back with a genuine smile and hug, is heartwarming. Big shoutout to Kiki, Daniel, Oralys, Roger, Belkis, Nelson, Marcos, Yordi, Yendri, Brian, Manuel (dive shop) and just too many more staff to list, will continue to make this our first choice when Cuba is our travel destination. In our opinion, Memories Jibacoa is an excellent value. Our most recent stay was October 13-20.

What else is there to say , there is a reason why Memories Jibacoa is rated so high, they work for it and deserve it !
This was my 9th or 10th trip here , but this time Solo ! , as usual everything was excellent , and being by myself the staff treated me like family , never disappointed on any level !

Nice experience
This time we selected memories jibacoa to spend the birthday of my best friend here and we were so happy for having chosen his amazing resort. We arranged a beautiful party and the hotels team was always supporting and helping us to have an awesome celebration at there place. In general the service was espectacular. Foos was amazing to and we have the privilege to have dinner of the and also at every a la caart here.
