Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2 stars – one for the beach, one for the bartender at the adult pool)

Just returned from a 6-day stay at Melia Cozumel and… wow. If you’re looking for a true all-inclusive experience, keep looking. We paid extra for The Level upgrade. Aside from a bigger room, it was a total letdown. The Level Up restaurant for breakfast was a disaster: 45-minute wait, soggy green salsa nachos pretending to be chilaquiles (no chicken), frozen waffles for my kids, and an omelet that was actually better at the buffet (which, trust me, is not a compliment). Now the buffet — hands down the worst I’ve ever experienced. Same bland food every day. On Sundays, they just reheated whatever was left from the week. I was even served chicken ceviche. Still recovering from that one. And of course, the A/C is not working properly. So you’re sweating through your bad meal, wondering if it’s too late to switch hotels. Drinks? Most were awful — even with The Level upgrade. Syrupy, overly sweet, or just strange-tasting. The only redeeming moment of this trip was the bartender at the adults-only pool, who made a fresh lemon margarita (no mix!). Absolute hero. The children’s pool? Always dirty. Room service? Service Not included. It’ll cost you 200 pesos per order — because clearly “all-inclusive” means some-inclusive with added fees. We were promised three à la carte dinners with our upgrade. We got into one. The others were always full or offered us a 9:30 PM slot — not exactly ideal with hungry kids. El Mole was ok. We were not able to try any other. Housekeeping came after 4 PM every day — great if you enjoy getting ready for dinner while someone’s cleaning your room. And the “clean” glasses? One still had a white film on it — clearly just wiped and reused from the day before. Gross. And finally — the beds. Oh, the beds. I’ve honestly had better sleep on a foam pad while camping. They’re squeaky, and uncomfortable — the kind of mattress that makes you wake up sore and annoyed. To sum it up: ✔️ Pretty beach (when there’s no sargazo/algae) 🍸 One excellent margarita ❌ Food, drinks, comfort, value? Major miss. Would I return? Only if I could sleep at the beach and live off margaritas at the adults-only pool bar. Otherwise — never again.

    Good trip!

We just spent 7 days at Melia in Cozumel. Overall the resort does a good job, The staff is amazing. Pool, activities, bars and facilities all good. The food is medicore, hit or miss. Hard to make reservations when we arrived but we were a group of 15 so I understand that. Guest Services did their best. Had a great birthday cake for dessert at Fish House the last night. It is brought in I believe and it was delicious! Overall a great place to relax for the week, amazing staff the food just needs to improve a bit. I would go back.

From Vegas to Cozumel – Meliá Was 100% Worth It!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ My name is Lucero and I traveled all the way from Las Vegas to Cozumel with 15 family members, including my two little ones (ages 5 & 3), and let me just say—Meliá Cozumel exceeded every expectation. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel like royalty. The luggage porter, the front desk team, the incredible servers, bartenders, snack bar crew, entertainment team, housekeeping—everyone was genuinely kind, respectful, and eager to help with anything we needed. Not once did I hear the word “no.” They go above and beyond for guests like it’s second nature. One example that stood out: I asked for milk at 10pm for my youngest because we had run out. Without hesitation, they offered me a cup or a liter! I asked for the liter and they brought it right away, no problem. That type of service speaks volumes. The entire resort is so family-friendly. There’s always something to do—my kids had a blast every single day. The entertainment team kept the energy up and made everyone feel welcome, especially Jose—he sets the perfect vibe and clearly loves what he does. Also shoutout to Willian, the night bartender in the lobby—he’s genuine, professional, and even remembered my drink without me asking. Amazing! Even the maids were sweet and attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed. I wish I could remember every single name, because every staff member deserves recognition. We stayed June 22–29 and I’m actually still here as I write this because the experience has been THAT great. This is my second time staying here and I’ve also been to other Meliá resorts… and let me tell you, they never disappoint. If you’re looking for a warm, family-friendly, relaxing, and genuinely kind place to stay—Meliá Cozumel is it. Thank you to the entire team for making our trip unforgettable. We’ll be back again! 💛

Melia with a group of nineteen.

Let me start out with the fact that we travelled to Cozumel with 19 family members. Nineteen. Challenging to say the least, but that was on us. We really loved Melia. The age range of kids we had on this trip was from 17 down to 8 years old. We also had several adults including my mother in law and her boyfriend who are in their seventies. Overall the rooms were fine, clean and with robust AC. AC was a bit loud but no big deal. With a group as big as ours, our options were limited as far as dining. It was next to impossible to book a reservation with 19 people. We ate at the buffet most meals with a few lunches at the Mole snack bar. I personally loved the omelet bar and the fresh fruit at the buffet and the ceviche at the snack bar was great. The staff at Melia, from the front desk to the cleaning staff to the restaurant/bar crew, were professional and friendly! The view of the Caribbean Sea from the hotel is stunning, though the water out front was not super clear most days. The beach was great though. We spent many an evening in the lounge chairs and hammocks watching the sunset. We even had a super fun family volleyball game on the beach on our second night. Like many reviews here, we simply walked down to the beach on the other side of the jetty at El Coz and snorkeled/swam over there. Stunning clarity and full of sea life. If traveling with a big group, I have to recommend the Fury Catamaran excursion. A giant catamaran with a great staff takes you from Downtown Coz on a snorkeling and ocean expedition that includes a private beach with water slides and trampolines. Lunch and drinks provided. Super fun and inclusive for everyone. It was my brother in law's birthday on the trip and since there were no reservations available at the restaurants at Melia, we went into town and had a great birthday dinner at Casa Mission. We sat in the garden with our big group and it was beautiful. Delicious food, wonderful local musicians and great ambiance. All in all, this was a great trip, especially considering the size of our group.
