Worst so called 4 star resort. Maybe a 2 star.
Stay away from this resort. The rooms are awful, even after we upgraded to the premium level. Rooms smelled, toilet never flushed, basically no water pressure for a shower. You can hear the people in the next room talking like they are sitting beside you. Some positives, the beach is 5 Star. The pools 4 star. The rooms -5 stars. The buffet is ok. The alarm Cartes were very good at least the ones we tried. This resort would be amazing if they only had more friendly multilingual staff and upgraded rooms. We have never had such a bad experience and never wanted to leave a resort as much as this one. I would never recommend this resort.

Travelling from the UK ?, find another hotel !
Where to start, flown half way around the world, no transfer at Punta Cana airport, although, not the hotels fault. Arrive at hotel, bus boy, fails to bring luggage to room 1hr after check in, miss the first pre-booked meal. Room, Premium Suite, no balcony, no bed for my daughter, after being promised at check in it would be there in minutes, it arrive 4hrs later at 10:30, the maid stuck a sheet over the mattress, provided no pillow and left. The “camp bed “ head board was mouldy and looked like it had been used in the local prison ! Don’t expect everything to work, lights, shower heads, toilets, wardrobe doors, drain covers damaged with metal spiking your feet in the shower. Then the food, pre-booked meals in the restaurants, orders messed up, staff slamming plates on the table + stomach aches a plenty ! Arriving at weekends ?, double the amount of people, people arriving for pool parties take precedence over long term holiday goers ! The que for the main food hall is insane ! Outside pool area and beach, the one good thing about this place. Seriously, if you’re coming from the UK, find another hotel, it’s poor to average. Won’t consider the Barcelo chain again !

The Wedgeworth family vacation
Where do I start, the resort is simply beautiful. My husband and I brought my mother and his mother with us and they had the time of their life.! Although all the people working at the resort seemed very nice, Stephanie Chen Carvajal and Alondra Nunez both ladies working at the front desk always went above and beyond to make sure that we were always comfortable and Happy 😊 The pools are wonderful and the entertainment crew are fabulous. If you have the opportunity to meet a woman named Cindy Serrano, your life will change for the better, she is heaven sent and almost knows what you need before you even ask her and will have it in your room waiting for you, i wanted or needed for nothing when she was around, thank you girly. Also make sure to stop by the Alhamabra Bar, the BEST bar on the resort, look for Ana Maire, she is so sweet and will make sure you always have a cold drink. We visited all the restaurants except for the Dominican restaurant and they were all delicious. Our favorite was the Tokyo restaurant. Last but not least, when it's time to check out make sure you ask for Wilkins, he is the best, he make sure all are luggage was waiting for us at the shuttle and made sure we were on the shuttle and off to the airport. Thank you to the while team at the Occidental Caribe.

Thank you Clifford
We had a lovely experience with Clifford. He was very friendly, approachable, honest and helpful. Everyone knew Clifford! Thank you for being so welcoming! Regarding the hotel, amenities, service, food, etc. Is definitely a low rating.

Outdated broken facility
On arrival we found check in to be extremly slow We got a room on the right tower of the reception area when we got in room was dirty hair on floor and in bathroom.area no water pressure from shower safe did not work phone did not work towels and sheets wernt clean room floor and beds where extremly dated went back and they gave us a room on the opposite tower Second floor close to the casino the room was a lot better than previous .On our second day we came back to the room with 3 maintenance works in the bathroom floors where all wet we left and came back after housekeeping had gone thru went to use the bathroom at night complete bathroom was wet from the ceiling down that continued like that for remainder of our stay.Althouh we know we where in a Spanish speaking country we thought that staff would have been more fluent in English snack bar staff was great so was most of the bar girls the girl at the entrance by the buffet was always smiling and we much appreciated her service Food for us was not the best booking a resturant was impossible and also with that there was no guide on how and where these resturants were located on check in.Pools beaches and pools was nice though

The Dominican Republic imposes various restrictions each year for Easter. The restrictions usually begin the Thursday prior to Good Friday, and run a few days past Easter Sunday. The following regulations may be enforced:
*Motorized watersports may be banned
*Non-motorized water sports may be limited, or banned
*Alcohol consumption may be restricted (most resorts obtain a special permit which enables them to serve alcohol to nonnative persons during the ban)
*Music may be limited or silencedThese guidelines are currently vague because actual enforcement by the local government does vary greatly from one year to the next. Each year the actual policies are not published by the local authorities until just prior to Easter. These rules are designed for the safety of everyone, as beaches get extremely busy during this period.
