Do Not Waste Your Time Here
We didn’t get the room we reserved, junior suite oceanfront with a king size bed. After talking with them for hours, we were finally able to move to a room that was kind of what we reserved, we moved into a room with 2 full beds. Once we got moved in, unpacked, and situated, it rained…which meant the ceiling leaked right on our beds. We were then moved again to another room! Still with 2 full beds and not a king size bed. In all of the rooms, there were a lot of things that were broken and inoperable. They also weren’t super clean. There was hair and dirt everywhere and bedding wasn’t clean either. We had to get new sheets twice just because they weren’t clean or stained. Towels are all stained too. Half the time they didn’t have clean beach/pool towels so be prepared for that too. Now the food and service is horrendous. If you are in the buffets, you are lucky to get service at all. None of the food is hot, whether you are in the buffet or a restaurant. It may come out a little warm but seriously, most of the food was awful. I had to get an omelette made for me each day so I could at least have something for breakfast. Restaurants/buffets smell like seafood, and they shouldn’t. Stay away. The location is beautiful but that is the only thing this resort has going for it. I would recommend staying anywhere else to enjoy the beautiful scenery in the Dominican Republic.

Horrible
I rate my experience 1. The alcohol is not premium and to acquire premium you have to buy into some sort of time share option for over 15,000 US dollars. I always stay and book with Barcelo and picked this hotel because of the chain. I will recommend this hotel to no one and this will be the last time I stay within the Barcelo chain after this experience. The hot water was also not working, phone lines to the lobby were not being answered. The food is low quality to say the least. The service staff in some parts are phenomenal but other won't work if not tipped well. No beach towels available for long periods of time, we are actually still waiting after 2 hours. The entertainment staff do great but are over shadowed by the bad service of others. The buffet near the ocean during the morning shift are the best service we have received. The disco is over crowded by individuals who are not staying at the hotel and it seems some what dangerous. The specialty restaurants are ok but also not the best. When I say we are still here for another 3.5 days and can not wait to leave is an under statement. The spa is our BEST experience! Everything else is not worth the money or vacation time waisted. Will never book Barcelo again.

Spend extra and go somewhere else
From the moment we arrived it was just crappy, to say the least. Barely any customer service. No one seemed happy to be working. They don't offer any type of juice or drink like other inclusive resorts I have been to. Which honestly would have been fine if the workers at least seemed friendly. Even the ones checking you in seemed miserable. The ONLY saving grace of the resort was our concierge... I unfortunately forget his name, but I want to say it was Roberto maybe? He was a big help to us and friendly. Other than that, when it came to the servers at the buffet, restaurants, and bartenders none of them seemed happy or to care. They were slow and I mean very slow especially the restaurants (they weren't busy either), they served drinks in dirty cups at the pool- one of our cups had lipstick marks on it, and on top of that the drinks tasted mostly like juice and no alcohol. The last night there we ate at the Mexican restaurant which was mediocre at best but unfortunately the next day all 4 of us were sick. We all had it coming out both ends on our flight home and at the airport. Seeing as the Mexican restaurant was the last common denominator between the 4 of us, we are most certain it was something from there. The so-called nacho bar would be my guess since they just seem to have the guac and sour cream sitting out. Please do yourself a favor and just pay the few extra bucks to stay somewhere else.
