    Excelent resort- poor management

    My wife and I decided to celebrate my daughter's 1st birthday at this resort with our family. We had a group of 14 people and unfortunately the management is what left a sour taste to our vacation . We arrived at the resort at 12am and right away we noticed the lack of staff available. They had only one person checking in ONLY our group. However, the pilots and their crew arrived at the same time and demanded to be checked in right away. They didn't care that we had a 1 year old crying and started complaining to the one staff doing check in and demanded they get checked in first. It was pretty unreal to witness such behavior from grown adults who did not care that we were waiting first. After the staff got harassed by them he had no choice but to let them check in first. The process took us over an hour and we got to our rooms by 2am . The food at the buffet was incredible. Plenty of food to choose from and considering my daughter had just started eating solids a few months ago there were lots of options to choose from without many condiments ( chicken breast, veggies, pasta, rice, plantain) All of the adults including myself had zero complains about the food. It was excellent. However, the lack of staff once again tainted the experience. They had 4 staff trying to manage the entire right side of the buffet section so getting any drinks or even clean napkins was a hassle. None of it of course was the staffs fault. They just seemed over worked and just were not able to attend so many tables. Our house keeper Mercedes was an absolute angel. She helped us get water bottles whenever we needed so we could make bottles for my daughter. She was even able to accommodate the time between naps to clean our room. She went above and beyond to ensure my daughter had what she needed. The pool was incredible. Two huge pools so it seemed like we were the only ones in there. Pools were always cleaned and well maintained. The beach was another huge plus. We spent majority of the time there. No seaweed, cool breeze, just an incredible time. The a la carte restaurants were a complete nightmare. We tried booking the steak and the Japanese restaurants but the app kept saying it was full although we tried first thing in the morning. We even went to the front desk to see if they could help in any way but their response was to do it through the app so save yourself a headache and time waste and just go to the buffet. You won't be disappointed. The resort overall was clean, very well maintained, not too big so it was easier to get around. We would absolutely come back to this resort but we hope managent really solves the issue of lack of staff to create a 5/5 experience.

    Great 2 weeks at Ocean Blue & Sand

    Had such a great experience at this resort, the layout was amazing, not a huge resort which we really liked. The main area had a great set up with the restaurants, bars and nightly entertainment in one spot that gave a real 'Downtown" feel. As a vegetarian I found lots of food options which can be a challenge at times Route 66 was a great option to find plant based veggie burgers as well as other options. We liked not having to make reservations. We have traveled many times over the years to the Caribbean and this little GEM for the price exceeded our expectations. The only negative comment is Pinky the flamingo gets picked on by tourist, some people even hit him. It would be nice to see him re-located to a safe spot only to observe not to touch. TIP: Please tip the staff, servers, bellhops, maids, everyone you can weather its a buck or 2 or 3. They really work hard and it really means a lot to them as wages are very low. Staff all around were fantastic! 2 large pools, self serve soft ice cream was a plus. Overall a great experience and we WILL be back! Thank you Ocean Blue!! 5*****
