Slow service
Loved everything except the service. The service is so slow you could spend the better part of your day waiting in lines or waiting on service in restaurants. We ate at the Blue moon restaurant this evening and it was absolutely the worst service I have ever received at any resort that I have ever vacationed at. We were served wine just after we sat for dinner. We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30. Most of our meals were great but a couple of them were cold. We asked for refills on our wine several times but never received it. At around 9:30 a waiter came to our table with wine to fill our empty glasses. He laughed and joked as he was about to fill our glasses. We walked out at that point , never ordered dessert, and we weren't even asked if we wanted any up to this point. It's too bad because we really like everything else about this resort. We have been eating breakfast at the buffet in the morning and the service has been excellent.

If you get a good price it's a great trip, but they will try to get you to pay for extras every chance they get.
Good enough, we got quite a deal on a 4 day trip. If we had paid more it would have been a bit disappointing. Food: breakfast buffets were good, but usually a bit stale unless you go first thing. Doesn't seem like they replenish, so if you go at 9 the food has been sitting for about 3 hours and if it's gone it's gone. For the reservation restaurants, Japanese was very fun. Steakhouse isn't worth it: if you go, ask for your steak undercooked, otherwise it's overdone. The snack bars make good food but it takes a long time, especially the crepe one. Actually all of the food except the buffets takes a long time. Drinks: bartenders are hit and miss, ask for drinks by ingredients rather than names (ie. Gin and lemonade vs a Tom Collins), they don't always know how to make what you ask for, and they won't tell you they don't know, they'll just give you whatever. That was actually pretty common for staff, if they don't know what you're asking they'll make up an answer. They're very polite, but it was a bit frustrating sometimes. Room: rooms are nice, bed is comfy, lots of pillows, AC works. Our sliding door was broken when we arrived and we were told someone would come to fix it on our first day, they never did. Good water pressure, water gets very hot. Don't drink tap water, and in care you aren't aware you can't flush paper products (toilet paper). It works like septic. Amenities: pools are nice, lazy river alone is worth the trip (but it's not on the adults only side so expect kids). The jet pool in El beso worked the day we arrived and then only had like half the jets for the rest of our stay. Evening entertainment was fun, bowling is not good, very broken. You don't have to pay extra if you don't want to (but the staff will apply pressure, just say "no thank you" and keep walking). Beach: main Beach was covered in weeds and it stank horribly. We didn't even try, but there's a smaller cove nearby that was cleaner. The ocean was really nice there, we had high waves and it was a blast! The App: it's not unusable but it's a pain. Also annoying that you will have to have your phone on you for the entire trip because the staff will keep telling you to use the app. There's no avoiding it. Reservations only let us hold 1 seat for 2 people, but they served us both fine when we came for our time slot. Other: I got sick on day 3, head cold (not related to the water). Not sure where I got it (I'm guessing the lazy river) but it certainly put a damper on things. We were told healthcare would be expensive so I've just been dealing with it. Best: food, pools Worst: unless they're trying to sell you something the staff don't really want to talk to you. Bartenders don't want conversation, felt like guest services just wanted us to go away when we had a question. Might be the language barrier, but the service didn't feel friendly. They never fixed our door so even though we had a walk out room we couldn't really enjoy it. This place is also HUGE. Not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. I walk a lot at home but honestly this place makes my feet hurt. It's about 10-15 minutes to get from El beso to the main lobby, and we couldn't figure out how to ask the carts for a lift.

It's 5 stars from us... GO, enjoy yourself and get to know the staff! They are incredible!
This hotel is just FABULOUS! Lots to do, good food and the drinks flow beautifully... BUT what makes this place SO special and stand out from every other hotel we've been to, are the staff!!! Every single member of staff goes out of their way to make your holiday feel special. We've been treated like royalty, and this is our 2nd time here. I can't possibly mention everyone, but some people we really do want to shout out are: Hendrick, Enrique and Carlos on the Blue Team Narda and Ricardo in the dining room, Elizabeth G at the sports bar for evening drinks. Jose G our concierge who checked on us daily and helped with restaurant bookings as the APP is a little temperamental and booking on there is hard! However, we really want to give some EXTRA SPECIAL thanks to: Stephany on the blue team - she went above and beyond this holiday, not just for us, but my entire family who joined us for our 2nd week. She is pure joy, exudes energy and honestly made our holiday so special. Thank you so much Stephany!!! Leonela our pool waitress - she remembered us from a 2 week stay over a year ago!! She works relentlessly hard, and is always there. She remembered our drinks order every day, and just knew what we wanted to drink, making some excellent recommendations. She treated us like queens our entire stay, so friendly and kind. She is one of a kind! Antonio on the omelette station - this gentleman, every morning greeted us with the biggest smile, so welcoming and honestly made our day, every day! He is an absolute gem and I looked forward to seeing him every day!! So ok yes, there are parts of the hotel that need updating, and the family pool is in need of a tiny bit of TLC with a few tiles missing, BUT I can't recommend this hotel enough!!! It's 5 stars from us... GO, enjoy yourself and get to know the staff! They are incredible! Georgina.
