Mayan dinner
Amazing hotel, staff are lovely and friendly and make your experience wonderful. The Mayan dinner was amazing would 100% recommend. Pila was a great host (very funny) and we received lots of information about the Mayan culture. Thank you so much.

Awesome
Firstly Kenddall the entertainment superstar is ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT. He has amazing energy and at the heart and soul of Ocean Maya. Activities are awesome. Food is great, especially the sports bar. Rooms are clean and drinks not watered down. Never been back to the same hotel twice before but with this one, we will be back, it’s a special place

What a place!
This place is a dream. I’ve a couple of days left and don’t want to leave. I’ve never had that feeling from a hotel before in all my years! The staff all work so hard, long shifts and provide the most excellent service. A very special shout out to Kenddell who is an absolute legend. So much enthusiasm and energy, a credit to the hotel, as are all of the rest of the teams that keep the place moving. Kieron, Jen, Rich and Leanne.

Treated like a criminal
My relaxation trip was started off by being treated like a criminal before I even arrived! My brother had a bunch of credit cart points he couldn't use and offered to cover my hotel so the charge was in his name and booking in mine (we have the same last name). The day before my trip I get an email from Amos Cohuo, their reservation supervisor requesting an authorization form signed by my brother. I respond to his email within the hour with a copy of the signed auth form and his drivers license. No response from anyone. The next day I'm at the airport about to board my flight and Amos tells me my brothers signature doesn't match and wants a copy of his passport and a new signed auth form. At this point I'm already upset as he waits till I'm about to get on my flight. My brother sends him the info within an hour and again, no response. I arrive at the hotel and they tell me it still doesn't match. I don't understand if they believe someone's signature is always exactly the same? His passport and DL don't match exactly, I doubt many peoples do. After more than an hour of dealing with them treating my like a criminal, I decide it's not worth it and called a cab to got somewhere else. After I put my bags in the cab and got in, the receptionist comes running out saying they can now accept it. At that point I was tired and hadn't found a new hotel so I reluctantly accepted, I shouldn't have. The hotel itself is quite dated and not in the best condition, not at all 4*. The beach sucked, small and not clear water you expect in that area. Not because of the seaweed, they actually did a pretty good job cleaning that, but it doesn't resemble the pics they posted. The food was just ok, the wait staff was nice, the entertainment was bad/boring, the pools were in disrepair and crowded (because the beach sucked). Not sure why this place was so highly rated.

Excellent Hotel
Best thing about the Ocean Maya Royale is the staff, and I don't mean the odd person, everyone from cleaners to the 'Spa Vendor' that worked at paradiso sister hotel. They were all curtious and friendly exactly what you want from a holiday. We were privilage and our butler was Allien he couldn't do enough for us, nothing was a problem, contacted us daily to arrange reservations. He even sorted a special dinner for my husbands birthday. Allien is a credit to your company. Jesus and Jorge on beach kept our drinks topped up all day and others can't remember. All restaurant served something that I liked however blue moon stood out. Yvonetti (credit to company), jorge and lobby bar staff/waiters were great our drinks were poured and served before even finished one in front of you. Sports bar has friendly staff and snacks are tasty.
