5 day R&R
We stayed here for 5 nights in a ‘partial oven view’ room. The room was a good size, but the partial ocean view was really a glimpse of the bay above the rooftops. We haven’t stayed here since it was a Sheraton. It looks like Outrigger has modernised the rooms, but otherwise the grounds looked similar. Well kept and on the edge of the lava cliffs, this is a great place to watch sunset from. We love the pools here with the waterslide in the main pool. The gym has ocean views and some very new equipment and is well equipped. We used the pool bar for drinks and the handy holoholo market to buy sandwiches and drinks. The washing machine room was a bonus for us after a long trip. Parking, breakfast and resort fee was included in our package, all very handy as they add up if paying for separately and I like to know my accomodation costs before i book. The breakfast was ok, omlettes cooked on request, but got a bit boring day after day and I’d like some variety. Our room had a musty smell and they quickly sent maintenance staff with deodoriser and to change the A/c filter. Staff were friendly and helpful

Consistent Beauty
This is our third time at this resort. Consistently amazing staff. The cabana rental service was disappointing. The adult pool was lovely. Voyager 47 had inconsistent food. Tessa and Sharlaine were engaging and helpful and lovely. Ron was awesome. He was the valet almost every morning we were there and he made our trip better. All around the service was rewarding.

Highly recommend—we are returning February 2026!
Can’t say enough good things about our stay at the Kona Outrigger. As a family with two young children, the resort was absolutely perfect for us. The pool quickly became the highlight of the trip for our two boys, who would have happily spent the entire vacation there. For my husband and me, the standout moment was watching a pod of whales right from our ocean-view room—an unexpected upgrade at check-in that made our stay feel truly special. We also enjoyed breakfast each morning at the main restaurant, which offered a relaxed, welcoming start to the day. There were so many unique touches that made the property memorable: the playful mongooses roaming the grounds and the unforgettable sight of manta rays gliding just off the shoreline at night. And as an architect, I especially appreciated the beautifully preserved 1960s architecture. It’s exceptionally well executed and gives the entire resort a distinctive, vibrant character. Highly recommend—we are returning February 2026!

The outrigger hotel in Kona is great. The staff is spectacular, especially Tessa and Sharlene. We will definitely be coming back here next year.
