Renaissance Aruba failed loyal guest—ignored booking error, charged $650 fee, no help, lost $2K, never returning.
This was my third time staying at Renaissance Wind Creek Aruba, and unfortunately, it will be my last. What should have been a relaxing vacation turned into a frustrating, disappointing experience due to the hotel’s lack of professionalism, empathy, and problem-solving. Due to an error made by the third-party booking platform (for which I have documented proof), my reservation was incorrectly placed at the adults-only Marina Hotel rather than the Ocean Suites, where I’ve always stayed before. Despite this mistake being clearly not my fault, the hotel refused to accommodate or provide reasonable alternatives. Instead, I was told I would need to pay an outrageous $650 “transfer fee” to move to Ocean Suites, on top of a $200 deposit. When I had already paid over $2,000 for my 5-night stay! I was stunned by how unhelpful and dismissive the hotel staff were—especially managers Melissa and Berto , and staff member Alex. While I was on hold with the third-party booking company for two hours trying to resolve the issue, Melissa told me, in front of my minor child coldly, “people are actively booking rooms, and now your room is taken.” My child broke down into tears in the hotel lobby upon hearing this—completely traumatizing and uncalled for. This was not only unprofessional but added to the stress and urgency of the situation instead of trying to help resolve it. To make matters worse, Tickets Work (the booking company) confirmed they attempted to call the hotel to resolve the matter, but Alex and Melissa were both in the lobby, ignoring the phone while I stood there with no resolution. I asked multiple times if they can reach out to the third party to rectify the issue so I can rebook a room , and was met with declines that they would not and will wait for the third party to contact them even knowing the third party contacted the reservations department and sent them an email already. Despite my loyalty as a returning guest and proof of the third party’s mistake, the hotel staff offered no real solutions. The issue remained unresolved, and I was left with no room to stay in, despite paying thousands of dollars. I ultimately had to stay with a relative because the hotel refused to take accountability or help rectify the issue, and ultimately being out of $2,000 I already paid for a room. This experience was beyond disappointing. A high-end resort should treat their guests with care, especially loyal ones. Instead, I felt mistreated, dismissed, and financially exploited. I hope management reconsiders how they handle situations like this in the future, because they’ve lost a loyal customer as I will not be returning.

A wonderful 25th wedding anniversary
We had the privilege to stay at the Renaissance Marriot wind creek n Aruba for our 25th wedding anniversary. From the moment we were dropped off from the airport to the moment we left, we experienced top notch service. JP was an excellent host and treated us like family. He gave great tips on where to eat and made us feel so very welcome. He made a great impression on my husband and I. We fell in love with the island, the people, the culture. We loved it all. We hated to leave. Friendships were made and I can’t wait till we get to go back again. It was truly the best trip ever. Thank you Renaissance staff. You all are amazing. 😘😘😘😘

Core memories made
This was our second visit to the hotel but first time with the kids and first to the suites side. We were 2 adults and 2 kids (11 & 15) and had plenty of space for us all in the room. The staff was so pleasant on arrival and helped us with our bags and offered everyone an ice cold water. Emilio at the front desk told us all about the activities and where everything was while checking us in. The bedroom was spacious with plenty of room to hang clothes and store suitcases. There was shampoo, conditioner and soap in the bathroom so leave yours at home and free up some space in your suitcase. The small kitchenette area had a microwave, good size fridge to fit drinks and snacks, plenty of plates, bowls, cups and silverware. It also had a small bottle of dish soap, a sponge and paper towels. They had a coffee pot with coffee, tea, sugar and powdered creamer. The living room area was room enough to relax and unwind after a busy day and night. The kids slept on the pullout couch and had no complaints. There was drawer space and a closet for them to store their things in the living room. The room was clean and comfortable and the air conditioning kept it nice and cool. There was always plenty of spots at the pool or lagoon. Lots of activities during the day ( check the screens by the elevator for all the activities) and snacks in the lobby each day as well as ice cold infused water jugs for guests to grab a quick drink. The pool bar staff was super nice and made some great drinks! They were so attentive to everyone walking around checking to see if anyone needed food or drinks. They had a DJ at the pool that played a good selection of upbeat music for everyone. A lot of the songs had people singing and dancing in their chairs or in the pool. The pool is open until 11 and we took advantage of a late swim after coming back from dinner some nights. We took the boat to the private island a few times but the kids preferred to stay at the pool and lagoon at the hotel. The location is great for walking to the marketplace for restaurants, some shopping, ice cream or even letting the kids go to the arcade. There was live music at the marketplace every night and it had a little convenience store in case you forgot something. We enjoyed our stay so much we are already planning our trip back!

Perfect
I’ve stayed at many hotels in my life, but this one has truly been the best and most special. The service felt more like a Michelin-star experience than a typical all-inclusive everything was top quality. Elizabeth, Bety, and the whole Aquarist team were amazing so kind and professional. Also big thanks to the boat crew, the blue bar pool staff, golf car team and everyone else who made our stay unforgettable. Indonesian friend Jonathan from congierge team special thanks to you also!!! If I hadn’t met Jonnathan, I wouldn’t have known about Dushi diner night and all the other restaurants/activities. He explained everything! I honestly don’t know how to thank you enough. The only negative experience I had was on Flamingo Island, where I felt discriminated against. I shared this with the management already, and I hope it’s taken seriously. One small suggestion: it would be great to have more shaded or air-conditioned seating areas around the resort especially in the hallways, elevators, and common areas. Except for our room and one restaurant, there was no air conditioning, which made it a bit uncomfortable at times. Overall, I will always remember this place with love. Thank you for making it so special. Love from Turkey. Room no 1513
