Very nice hotel our third visit upgraded to a pool view room, but when sitting on balcony can’t see pool 4 foot high wall in front feel a bit cheated as can only see pool when standing.bob.H

Large hotel in a fairly quiet location. Access to promenade via several steps although there are alternative routes to avoid these. Good sized room and balcony. Sound proofing between rooms is good however less effective between room and corridor. This can be quite noisy particularly if located on the same side as the hotel's service area. Plenty of choices on buffet for both breakfast and dinner. Hotel entertainment varies and tries to cater for different tastes. Top marks for cleanliness and the very friendly and efficient staff.

Booked a standard room. Received a room next to the spa and gym. Bad smell and outlook to a huge pile of sand. Asked for another room with better view and after 2 days got a smaller room on the 2nd floor with outlook on a wall. Very disappointing. According to management it was an improvement. Absolutely NOT!!! They were not interested in my comment and moreover refused to understand my point of view. First and last visit in RIU hotel ever !!

Relaxing stay at the Arecas
Just returned from Riu Arecas. Lovely popular hotel in quieter area towards Caleta (approx 1 mile). In the other direction, the bars and restaurants near El Ducque beach are about 450 yards away (they close quite early at night), but a 5 minute (7 Euro) taxi ride takes you to Fanabe for lively evening entertainment. The Arecas has nice quiet rooms and everything is very clean and well maintained. 2 pools with pleasant outside bar, and evening entertainment was very good and well attended. Nice restaurant with excellent food, and drinks very reasonably priced. All in all a very chilled holiday.
