My family of six really enjoyed our trip to the Riu Cancun, the resort, the beaches the pools the food and of course the drinks were outstanding. Will definitely stay at the Riu chains again when travelling. The entertainment was very well done and engaging. The memories made were incredible and we will look back on this experience very fondly.

Amazing time
My family and I was on this trip celebrating my 40th birthday. It was amazing. The staff were so nice and really did a good job. We loved the steakhouse and breakfast but other food was just okay. We will be back!

Lovely Riu Cancun Holiday
I visited the Riu Cancun for 8 days in December 2025. I am travelling from London, Age:25 All I can say is that prior to travelling, I saw a lot of negative reviews and lots of comments online that really made me contemplate changing hotels. However, I stuck with the Riu Cancun and I can safely and happily say I have had the most wonderful 8 days on my holiday. The weather has been beautiful, the hotel staff are honestly so polite and always greet you good morning and if you glass is empty rest assured a member of the team will be coming to ask what beverage you would like. There are 5 restaurants in this hotel and I can say I only visited two, due to having other plans and arrangements whilst on my holiday. The steak restaurant in the hotel is the busiest of them all and if you wish you to get a spot, I’d advise going at 6pm sharp to secure a slot for that same evening. It is first come, first served basis which I believe makes it fair for everyone. The Italian restaurant was also very nice. I believe that at the Riu Cancun there is food for everyone and you won’t find yourself hungry at all. During the day from 11am-6pm they have a small snack bar called PePe’s and honestly, if you like burgers, tacos, nacho’s etc then you’ll be a happy individual. In regards to the pools, they can be quite loud and a lot of people and noise, however, if you have booked Cancun as a holiday you must know that Cancun is known for its party culture and that is something you have chose to book. If you are not ready for noise during the day by the pools etc, please consider booking elsewhere. The beach is very relaxing and it does not have the loud noise that happens around the pools. In regards to sunbathing, I will say there is specific beds that have the sun all day long and there are certain areas that unfortunately lose the sun during the day due to the height of the hotel itself. You will quickly pick up the best spots in the hotel, however, I must say you should be downstairs by 7-8am to secure one of these spots. Room Cleanliness: My room was cleaned every single day and my bed sheets and towels were changed without request. You have two hangers for your front door. Green hanger is a request for your room to be cleaned, sheets changed and your Mini bar (optics) to be changed etc. I never once had to ask for them to attend to my room if needed. The red hanger is a do not disturb hanger and if this is placed on your door, they will not tidy your room or even enter your room. Honestly, I really don’t have any negatives to put across for my holiday and I’d most definitely visit again. Stop letting other people put you off your holiday and go with your gut. I’ve had an amazing time and made some wonderful memories.

Resort is very small. Pools are the size of cruise ship pools. No way to do any activities in pool. To SMALL. The pool parties they brag about are not even on property. 2 days in wish I could get my money back brought the whole family. If you’re coming to Cancun stay at Iberostar resort. 100 times better and cheaper.
