We love Terecita!!
Terecita was such a kind and attentive server! She remembered our group’s drink preferences and had them ready at our table upon arrival. She went above and beyond to make a personal connection with the guests and provided excellent service.

RIU Latino Nov 25
We have just spent 2 weeks in this hotel. I have never seen a hotel cleaned as much, the staff here are amazing. From the maids, to the gardeners but especially the pool cleaners. The place is spotless, even the serving utensils in the restaurants get changed through the course of your meal time. Pools are lovely and the slides for the big kids are fun. Beach is very clean and the waiter brings a selection of drinks down to the beach as there is no bar service on the beach. Food is good, everything is clearly marked with the allergens. I am a vegetarian and there is your own section of food and plenty of choice salad, pizza, noodles etc. We enjoyed the buffet, Asian and Italian restaurant, we didn't eat at the steak and other restaurant. We booked a trip over to the Island Mujures through our rep and it was great fun. Drinks are good and we didn't experience anything watered down. Rooms are a good size, there was some mosquitos but nothing more than any other Caribbean island we have been to. Take some spray with you. The hotel does 'fog' the plants everywhere day but this is nature. We had a lovely man called 'Wilber' who brings the drinks round the pool by the slides, always has a smile on his face and happy to make you anything you want.

A Riu good time.
We spent four nights at Riu Latino and it was an absolute blast. The vibe is upbeat, fun, and lively from the moment you arrive. The hotel is about 27 minutes from the airport, and check-in was smooth—they even had our rooms ready before 3 p.m., which was a nice surprise. Our overview room was great and came with liquor dispensers, which was a cool touch. The facilities were clean and well maintained throughout the stay. There are plenty of activities and three pools—the middle one features a swim-up bar—and there’s even an adult water slide if you’re looking to get your heart rate up. The food was good overall. The buffet is large with tons of variety, and there’s a snack bar by the center pool with a solid selection. The steakhouse ended up being my favorite. While there’s no room service, they do offer a 24-hour snack bar, which was convenient. My only real critique is the towel system—carrying a towel card around isn’t ideal, and it’s something they could definitely improve. Other than that, it was a great stay. I’ll be back for sure. In fact, I’m heading to Riu Palace Peninsula in November and will share a review afterward.

Five-star price for a two-star experience
Be under no illusions that this is a PARTY hotel. Extremely loud music every night until very late, and it can be heard even when your balcony door is closed. It made it impossible to sit on your balcony in the evenings as the music was so loud. It's very far out from the main hotel area - when they refer to it as being in an exclusive area, what they really mean is in the middle of nowhere. If you're looking for an 18-30 party hotel with a nightclub in the grounds, you'll be fine here. If you're looking for a luxury five-star spa resort for adults who like luxe holidays, go somewhere else. Although it is a five-star hotel, the amenities are closer to two stars. In the room, for instance, there was only a hand wash-shampoo-body wash combination, and a conditioner. Not even a body moisturiser provided, never mind anything you'd usually expect in a five-star room like a bathrobe or slippers. The 'spa' does massages and nothing more. No spa products are provided in the room. There is an overpriced (US $25 for a small bottle of SPF) shop on the hotel grounds, and I assume they provide almost nothing in the room to push you into buying more from the shop. The room TV didn't work and when I called to reception to ask if someone could come to look at it, I was told none of the room TVs work as they would need to be connected to the internet and they're not. So the TV auto-plays an advert for the hotel chain everytime you walk in the room but is otherwise useless. The pool area is noisy and there's no quiet pool you can choose instead. The only option for getting away from the day time 'pool DJ' is to go to the beach area which is OK but nothing compared to the white beaches further down the coast. The food in the buffet restaurants wasn't great - overcooked, tough fish, prawns which didn't even have the back vein removed (if you know, you know), and a very small salad selection. I checked out two days early and went to a different hotel; the staff at reception didn't even ask why I was cutting my booking short.

Average AI experience
As someone who has been to about 15-20 All Inclusive resorts, this one fell short of my expectations. Location is 45-60 min from airport- I prefer the hotel zone but once at this location it was fine. Nothing near the resort though. Drinks and pool area was very nice. All of the staff members were pleasant and helpful. The rooms and entire place from what I saw was clean. Fitness center is super tiny with minimal equipment. The food is the one thing that I felt was a complete miss. I only expect the food at AI to be average at best. The food here (buffet and specialty restaurants) were all below average. Wasn't a bad experience but wouldn't return.
