Generally great although a little way out of town
In general are very nice experience staying here. Positive points were that.: Cleanliness of the rooms was excellent, the staff were incredibly attentive and helpful. We arrived in the early hours of the morning, and we were given a ground floor room which we hate! The receptionist said she would see about an alternative room in the morning, and sure enough, the staff on duty in the morning had organised another room which was perfect service! On the day of leaving, I was trying to find somewhere to charge my phone in the main reception area but couldn't find a Power Point anywhere. Without being asked, a member of staff appeared with a extension lead! This attitude seem to be carried through throughout the hotel and was much appreciated, particularly in the dining rooms. Never an issue getting a sunbed, although the usual 6 am vultures were out getting their towels down! Although it has to be said the towel systems is a bit of a nonsense, and most people ended up with more than they needed and loads of cards, not sure why this is needed at all. There were just a couple of negatives: I do not believe a five star hotel should be charging €25 for a safe, something that is free almost every hotel I've stayed in recently. I also do not believe they should be charging for what is basically tapwater in a glass bottle at dinner. It creates a bad impression of money grabbing, but at least it gives the local supermarket plenty of business. The only area where we felt cleanliness was not perfect was on the small plastic trays by the side of sunbeds which were often still covered in sticky goo the next day as they were not washed down in the mornings. The entertainment was fairly average, and I couldn't help notice the loud entertainment from the hotel next door, although this did not go on into the early hours obviously. Unfortunately, and out of RIUs control, is that if you travel with TUI uk, they make you the last drop-off from the airport and the first pick up back. This means you spend an hour and a half doing a 20 minute journey, going round and round in circles to over a dozen drop off points in the town centre before going out to The palace. This is a single reason that would stop us travelling again here using TUI uk.

Plain, but good.
Positive Aspects: Beautiful Location: Set in a stunning area with a very short walk to its own beach, making beach access incredibly convenient. Lovely Staff: The hotel staff are friendly, attentive, and contribute positively to the overall experience. Ample Sunbeds: No issues with sunbed reservations and plenty of shaded areas, especially around the pool thanks to the poolside restaurants. Clean Rooms: Rooms are consistently cleaned to a high standard, maintaining a fresh and tidy environment. Nice Promenade: A scenic promenade is nearby, with easy access to supermarkets for any additional needs. Indoor Spa: The spa is beautifully maintained, and the indoor pool is particularly refreshing, perfect after a day in the sun. Areas for Improvement: Boardwalk Lighting: The boardwalk leading to the beach is poorly lit at night, often requiring phone torches for visibility. Noise Disturbances: Early wake-up calls from cleaning staff (around 8am) and noise from trolleys in the corridors can disrupt sleep. Limited Evening Entertainment: The hotel becomes quite quiet after 10 pm due to a lack of engaging entertainment, with shows of mixed quality ending around this time. Repetitive Food Selection: While the food is decent, the selection can become monotonous. The specialty restaurant menus were not particularly appealing. Lack of Activities: Minimal activities for teenagers, with no darts, sports, or poolside entertainment, leading to boredom for some guests. Pool Area Condition: The pool area shows signs of wear, with cracked tiles and some tiles coming loose. Missing 5 Amenities:* Lacks typical five-star touches such as complimentary toiletries (e.g., toothbrushes), welcome drinks are limited to Prosecco, orange juice, or water—missing options like coffee or other complimentary beverages. Dull Décor: Some parts of the hotel feel dark and somewhat uninspiring, decorated in grey tones that can appear gloomy. Overall Impression: Despite some areas that could be enhanced, particularly around entertainment options, amenities, and minor maintenance issues, we genuinely enjoyed our stay at RIU Palace Tenerife. The beautiful location, friendly staff, and excellent cleanliness made for a pleasant holiday, although it felt somewhat plain considering its five-star rating.

Fabulous with pointers for minor improvements
First and foremost it’s the staff that make this place incredible, there are a lot of them (which is rare these days) and everyone we encountered was fantastic. The cleaners are extremely thorough and very warm/friendly. The location is amazing and of everywhere we walked in the surrounding areas, our location was by far the best. If you walk out of the hotel at the back facing the sea (and turn left) you can stroll down to el duque south beach which is man made and not volcanic sand. There’s a beach bar called BDB that is delicious and a short walk further left up the hill is the designer shopping mall. I averaged 22k steps a day exploring all around, you can walk on to Fanabe, Torviscas, San Eugenio and Porto Colon which all have different things to see (in my opinion not as nice as this hotel location) We got taxis to Siam Mall which has great shopping as we needed something in particular. TOP TIP search whale express in Porto Colon for an hour tour in a rib boat. So reasonable, got to see pilot whales and made our visit! Only improvement for hotel would be kids club or just an activity or 2 throughout day like pétanque or something that kids could meet the other child guests. Also to be able to pay for drinks as you go so that you aren’t shocked by final bill/can budget. Overall fantastic hotel with great staff, pool scene is great (especially adult infinity overlooking the beach), large rooms and if I was someone who visited the same place, I’d love to stay again.
