Riu Hotels have the best entertainment teams I have ever seen since I'm traveling, their food is great. The Riu Palace or Tropical Riu is located on the Bloody Bay Beach, good scenery. All staffs are friendly and make you feel like you are home, clean room and they offer alcohol in the rooms

We were recommended this hotel by the travel agents that we booked it through as we wanted something special for our honeymoon. Couldn't fault anything, the staff were wonderful and very friendly. We spent most of our time on the beach and in and out of the sea, which was like being in bath water. Food was great, lots of choice and all very fresh and tasty. We especially liked the Italian restaurant. We had the best time!

Great holiday
Recently returned from a two week stay at this beautiful hotel. Two hour journey from the airport. Check in was smooth with a welcome rum punch cocktail. Booked a junior suite with a partial sea view - but were upgraded to a suite with a full sea view facing the beach. The apartment was spacious, comfortable and well appointed; (Iron, ironing board, fridge full of water/beer/mixers, optics - large umbrella which we used several times, coffee maker, robes, plenty of coat hangers etc. We also borrowed a kettle from reception for a $20 deposit.) The hotel is situated on the Bloody Bay Beach. Lovely white sand, clear and safe warm sea (Perfect for young children) plenty of sun beds - parasols and palm trees to provide shade. Limited water sports are available and we made use of the paddle boards, kayak and pedlos. We enjoyed the dining experience and had no problem with booking any of the speciality restaurants. The Italian, Steak House and Japanese were very good - not so keen on the Krystal. We found the buffet restaurant excellent and we could happy have eaten there every night. Freshly cooked food with a variety of choices. Enjoyed the many different alcoholic drinks on offer - premium brands - and both the red and white wines were of good quality. The culinary highlight though was the Jerk chicken hut by the beach. Delicious chicken served by the equally impressive chef - Jolly. We enjoyed the swimming pools - never a problem getting a sun bed. The pool bar was great - getting more raucous as the day progressed. We didn’t find tipping a problem but only tipped those that seemed to go over and above. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend a walk along the beach to the many stalls selling souvenirs. One in particular we went back to several times. Look out for the wooden 7’ Giraffe made by Robert, a local wood carver and quite a character. We booked a two tours via TUI - with the lovely rep Renie providing helpful advice. First trip was to the Appleton Rum, YS Falls and the Pelican Bar (Quirky). Second one was to the Blue Mountains Coffee plantation, Emancipation Park followed by a visit to Bob Marleys former house which is now a museum. We were picked up at 5.25am and returned to the hotel at 8.15pm - a long and tiring day but worth it just to see where Bob Marley lived and step into his recording studios. We also did zip wiring (Good fun) - and took a taxi to Ricks Cafe - which was an experience! Overall a great holiday and would highly recommend.

Great place, horrible pillows and mattresses
Sleep was hard to get because of how hard the mattresses were. Wasn’t crazy about that you had to get a blanket out of the closet to use on the bed because the blanket/sheet on there was so thin. Other than that everything was pretty nice!
