    Never Again

    I’m not sure if this hotel would prefer older guests but I felt we were targeted from the time we arrived. One of the desk men made a comment about how late we came in and so forth but sir… this is Miami! The main incident was when they charged an additional $250 for smoking in the room and that was never the case! There would have been a lingering smell for the remainder of our stay. They also said they came in our room while we were unattended. They spoke to us like people on the street and not as someone who just stayed at their hotel. They called the police on us after the $250 has been paid. I’m also not sure of the cleanliness of this hotel because I had bite marks on my leg, hand, and arms when I left Miami. They had this racist energy at this location and if you’re young and here to party or plan to be around smoke at a party, don’t stay here.

    Awesome stay

    Great stay in an awesome beach front property. My view was spectacular and the location of Riu Miami was perfect. The free trolley stops right outside the hotel which provided bus access and transfers to south, mid and north beach and the local bus provides access to the city of Miami. I used it as hop on hop off service for my entire stay. I’m addicted and will be back.

    Disappointing Experience at RIU – Not Up to Usual Standards

    As a frequent traveler and someone who has stayed at several RIU properties around the world, I was genuinely disappointed by my recent experience at this location. While the hotel boasts a nice setting and the food was decent, the overall service – particularly at the front desk – left much to be desired. Upon arrival, we were met by Carlos at reception, whose rude and unhelpful demeanor gave us a terrible first impression. He was uncooperative and failed to provide any basic information about the hotel, amenities, or dining options. What made the situation worse was being overcharged and forced to pay an unexpected additional fee of $150 just so my 4-year-old daughter and 1 year old could have dinner with us. I was was pressured to pay this so my family could enter the room after a 4 hour car journey and was told they could not enter until the full amount was paid. I was then told my stay was only breakfast included which i then had to prove to Carlos it was half board. I have no issue with paying extra for the kids food as it would appear my fault due to the booking however the room I booked was a double queen family room which was the same price on the RIU website. Upon walking past the restaurant we noticed it was $12.50 for breakfast and $18 for evening meal which is very good value and kids under 2 are free. My wife then went back to reception and asked why we had been charged so much and like magic it was investigated and refunded. To make matters more frustrating, parking is $60 per day, with no alternative options nearby. When I inquired about possible nearby parking, Carlos showed no interest in helping us with this either. The only redeeming part of our stay was the professionalism and kindness of Danielle, the manager, who listened to our concerns and offered a sincere apology for the poor service we received from Carlos. Her approach was a stark contrast and very much appreciated. I expected more from RIU, and unfortunately, this visit did not live up to the standards I’ve come to associate with the brand. I hope this was an isolated incident, but I would think twice before returning to this particular location.

    THE STAFF ARE SCAMMERS AND BULLIES

    THE STAFF ARE SCAMMERS! If you are planning to stay here, RUN! I don’t want put the 3 individuals names out there but their positions are Manger over the front desk/ assistant GM/ Head of housekeeping. They added on at the end of our stay $250 for smoking violation. I do not smoke and would never smoke in a room. They bullied us into paying it because they said smelt it. I asked why didn’t yall call my phone in the act of it if that was happening. I would think it would a disturbance to their guest. Which they should have kicked us out as soon as they “smelt it”. They decided to wait and charge us when turning in keys where it was their word against ours. They said they waited for us to leave to go in our rooms. I feel like our belongings were tampered with as well. When trying to get to the bottom of it all 3 of them and extra staff surrounded us like we were terrorist. We paid the 250.00 and the ask for corporates information and everyone’s name. I was not hostile I just know business and I needed to record keep this situation. They decided to retaliate and call the cops on us. They did that to embarrass us. When telling the assistant GM that I felt discriminated against she said “How when you look like me” that was was such a rude statement from a Hispanic woman to a lighter multi-racial woman that does not have Hispanic background. We are not the same nor did we look like the people staying there either. I felt targeted from when we 1st checked in. When the cops got there they stated that it was bad customer service to call them and the call was uncalled for. I wish I had the cops to go upstairs and smell the room to have that on record as well. I have never and I mean never been treated so awful at any hotel like I have at this one. If this does not get addressed appropriately I will be taking this farther to be investigated. I feel they do this to a lot of their guest to get more money. Because if I was in management I would make sure if there was a violation going on, it was addressed right then and there. Not tax it on at the end of someone’s stay. These people need to be investigated because they had no proof what so ever. We all went up stairs together to smell the room and smelt nothing but they went with it. Then to call the cops was the icing on the cake. The cops literally stated that was not called for. The house keeper asked me what was my problem when I asked for their names. The staff is a joke and a bad representation of the company, very ghetto and has no class. I know people that go to school for hospitality. I can tell they did not have any background in it on how they conducted themselves.

    Disappointing Outdoor Dining Experience at RIU Miami Beach

    I typically enjoy staying at RIU properties, but unfortunately, my recent experience at RIU Miami Beach left me disappointed—particularly due to a very unpleasant outdoor dining situation. While dining outside one evening, my meal was repeatedly disrupted by a flock of birds swarming the area. It became impossible to enjoy my dinner, despite having paid for drinks and being seated at a designated table. The situation felt unsanitary and made what should have been a relaxing experience stressful and uncomfortable. In an effort to resolve the issue, I spoke directly with the on-site manager, Carmen. I brought up my concerns twice and respectfully asked if there was anything that could be done. Unfortunately, she informed me that she was unable to offer any resolution. I found the response dismissive and unhelpful, which was particularly disappointing given the reputation RIU hotels typically maintain. This experience fell short of the standard I expect from a hotel of this caliber. I hope management will take feedback like this seriously and consider implementing solutions to improve the outdoor dining environment for future guests. RIU Miami Beach has many positive features, but this particular incident left a lasting negative impression.
