Choose another resort.
MOLD, MOLD and more mold. The whole place smells like a toilet probably because most of them don’t flush. I generally look past poor reviews but I had to send out a warning. Mind you I haven’t heard many people complain so not sure where they go but I have been to many, many all inclusives and have never said I wouldn’t go back because it was just what it was. Not this time. NEVER AGAIN. I didn’t think I would ever want to return back to minus 24 instead of staying here but one more night and I get to go home.

VERY GOOD PLACE TO GO
I liked the service where I could change my room without having to pay extra. Service was good and also liked there there was alot of chairs available at the beach and at the pools.

Overall, a positive experience, we'd go back.
This was our 6th visit to Punta Cana and our first for this resort. Positives: The food was excellent, with numerous choices. The beach-side jerk chicken take-out has a good reputation and did not disappoint. Service staff were friendly and efficient. Rooms were attended to daily, but we would consider this a light cleaning The beach area was well maintained, and the hotel location allows for long beach strolls in either direction There is a different vibe at every pool, wander around to find one that suits your taste Common areas throughout the hotel are clean, modern, and connected by wide, tiled and roofed pathways Negatives: Rooms look tired. Fixtures due for updating (mirrors tarnished, toilet porcelain cracked) Air conditioning worked, but only in manual mode. Toilet needed 2 repairs in the week we were there. False fire-alarm emptied our building one morning. The pool area is separated from the beach by a sand berm--this berm takes up a lot of room, and results in crowding of beach chairs. Not many options for shade on the beach The hotel's disco and largest entertainment stage are centrally located. We had a room in a quiet area, but heard from other guests who were kept awake by loud music and drunken party-goers roaming the hallways.

January stat at Riu Republica
Overall was a good stay, The resort was very clean. Food was good nothing crazy but was much better than expected. Lots of spots if you want to have a quiet spot by the pool/beach. Food at the sports bar was not good at all (avoid if possible). BRING BUG SPRAY the mosquitos were very bad at night
