Nov 19, 2025Beautiful, Clean Party Resort
To start, the resort is immaculate. The staff there keep the resort very clean and manicured. Our room(7354) was very nice and had an "ocean view"(picture below). The balcony was really nice also. One issue with the balcony was smoking. We are not smokers but others are, and use the balcony for that purpose so that made it a bit unenjoyable that way(smelling the smoke from below and beside). Also, being a family friendly resort, there will be children and we expected that. We didn't expect to be able to here the kids screaming so clearly from outside the room(@06:30). There was also a considerable amount of noise that funneled through the hallway into our room corridor...This was always around 8am...So the long and short of it is; if you like to sleep in, that might not happen if you are a light sleeper. There is a gym and spa there which is very nice and more than adequate. Some have said that you can swim in the Ocean in front of the resort.....When we were there, I definitely did not go in the water...I am a good swimmer and an avid snorkeler but I have never seen swells like that before(First time on the Pacific Ocean). The swells were touching the first tier on the beach which was 10' above the water. Again, very nice but if you snorkel, you won't be doing it there(not while we were there anyway). Food in most cases was okay, nothing to write home about in my opinion...Not bad, just nothing special. The Italian restaurant had potential but there was not enough food for the volume of people, the chef's could not keep up. The temperature of the food was pretty consistently luke warm. That was the same story for the main buffet and the Japanese restaurant. We tried to get into the steakhouse multiple times but there was a line 20 people deep at 1/4 after 5 with a waiting list after that. I questioned the waiting list considering it's supposed to be "first come, first serve" & left it at that. I will say that the taco's were killer no matter where, at the pool, in the buffet's, they were always really good. Getting to the room could be a bit of a challenge if you don't get a bellhop. You get direction but really are on your own to find your room if you don't get one. It's not that difficult but it is a really big property. Around the pool is very sunny but finding a spot was never difficult...Finding shade was a challenge if you were down there after 11 am....Staff around the pool really did a good job of organizing and getting people to participate in activities...If you are a reader, you might be a bit distracted by the poolside music....Also when we were there, quite a few people brought their own portable speakers with their own music so that was a bit much at times. We did the two bays snorkelling trip through Sunwing...That was worth every dollar. Great snorkeling and great crew on that catamaran. We were fortunate enough to see a pod of humpback whales while out, that was amazing. We also went in to town a couple days and that was also very much worth it...An uber is around $10CAD each way so again, very good value....Also, the Marina is really nice....Sea Lions typically lounging all around on the docks. Worth the trip there as it's only 15 min. from the resort. We also got a water taxi from scuba caribe at the resort(23USD each). For that, they picked us up at the resort and picked us up when the taxi was done. The water taxi showed us around the arch and the two beaches(Lover's and Divorce beach). I think I got everything....Keeping in mind, this is a kid friendly resort, you will see some people who have had too much to drink(especially after the parties) but not one was rude or biligerant. Overall, this is a beautiful, clean resort. It is a party resort for sure with areas that offer a bit more quiet than others. You can do as many activities and excursions as you want....Tried to be as transparent and honest as I can above with this review.

Very nice room, grounds, staff and facilities! We like having fun BUT...RIU needs to take some serious steps to control the ridiculous amount of noise and behaviours throughout the night and early early morning. Drunken, screaming young adults with no respect for anyone else put a damper on our 2 week visit....we expected we wouldn't have to experience the out of control party behaviour of Spring Break in November but we were wrong. As well, the adult pools behaviour was at times, ridiculous as well..smoking in and around the pool, people bringing their own loud music, swearing! Felt bad for the hotel managers, life guard etc. who had to try to keep these unruly guests under control.

2nd time at this resort. I love this place! great location, great staff, Pavel at the front desk took care of us when we needed help. The room was spacious and comfortable, the grounds were well kept. It was a wonderful experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, and I have!

Fantastic resort
Would definitely stay here again. Family trip with young adult children. Fun party for them, but still family friendly. Clean, good food, not dated at all. Great value for money
