May 11, 2025Great location. Lovely hotel
It was our first stay in Riu Yucatan and we had a great time. Restaurants were fantastic, loads of choice of different foods available. We loved the beach and the views were fantastic. Staff were very friendly and helpful, always ready to help. The monkeys, coatis and agouti were wondering around the complex and it was lovely to see them. Entertainment was okay and room service provided a high standard. We loved everything about Riu Yucatan and are planning to return very soon. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

We have been on many all inclusive to Mexico. This was our first stay with RIU and the first time staying close to Playa Del Carmen. RIU Yucatán is a relatively smaller resort compared to our other stays. That turned out to be a plus since our building was 2 minutes from main buffet and 5-7 minutes to beach. If you needed something from your room, you didn’t have to do a 20minute trek to get there. The properties and rooms were very clean & well maintained. The RIU app was very handy if you had any requests. The hotel reacted quickly. Staff were all friendly and courteous. Food (my fav topic): The main buffet was top notch. Big item selection and all dishes were very well prepared. There would be theme nights which we enjoyed. For breakfast, we missed oatmeal as a healthier choice. It was always a treat deciding on what to eat and we were never disappointed. Restaurants: Big heads up that men were not required to wear long pants at any of the restaurants. Our fav rest was the Steak house. The mixed grill for 2 persons was very good. Our only mild complaint was the excess use of buffet style serving at the restaurants. The Japanese restaurant was completely self serve. The Steakhouse was the only restaurant with complete service. Beach: beautiful beach, lots of fun being in the waves. Lots of palm trees but little shade. We would reposition our chairs to follow the shade. The sun was very strong with Extreme UV ratings. There was a”beach caddy” who would help you find chairs. That was a nice touch. Monkeys: Our room faced the “mini jungle” which turned out to be a real treat. We often got to watch the howler monkeys swinging from tree to tree. Also lots of other interesting animals and cool animal sounds. Overall we enjoyed our stay and recommend RIU Yucatán. Was also very fairly priced. We did a Sunwing all inclusive.

Rather good experience
We had a great time at the Yucatan, staff were very friendly and helpful, the resort is well kept and clean, the pool were good, the best part of our stay was the interaction with Alex at the 24hrs bar, he was super awesome and fun to joke with, he was responsive and attentive to detail, the other plus was how much work went into the beach, great job on that and thank you, food quality was hot and miss, at those numbers of guests I get it as I'm a chef in establishment roughly that size. Great job RIU, I definitely will recommend the Yucatan as I do the Santa fe.

Great holiday
Every thing about the holiday was absolutly fantastic from our experience at checkin to our experience at check out the staff were very welcoming and helpfull during our sray the service in all restaurants and bars was first class and friendly the food was first class as well in all your restaurants very well trained and atentive staff nothinf was too much trouble

Good hotel, great location
Spent a week here in April 25 for a couples holiday (age 50) impressed by the checkin process and was directed to the room block by the receptionist. The block was located near the stage/pool area and suffered a little from noise from the stage and was located at the back overlooking the service road (also noise) room was really good (aircon, fan, optics and shower room) but could do with some TLC regarding fittings. Could also do with knowing that you need to throw paper in the basket not the toilet. Doors can sound loud when other guests let the doors slam! Food offerings very good from the buffet and ala carte restaurants and service and cleanliness was very good. Can be windy in the steak restaurant…beach was perfect and the teams do well removing any excess seaweed from the waters edge.
