Great location, good facility and good people.

Spent 6 days here, perfect location, great facilities and very good staff. Good value for the cost. Only drawback was that there was a lack of staff, the Mai Tai bar is fantastic but less than half full with people lined up waiting to get in, tables left empty because there weren't enough servers. This was not just the Royal Kona it seemed to be an issue throughout the island. Lots of closed shops and restaurants and lots of help wanted signs. The people working were fantastic but were few in number.

    Can’t wait to go again!

It was my second stay at the Royal Kona Resort! It has the perfect location for easy walking distance to shopping, restaurants, and most importantly- beautiful sunsets right on the ocean! We had an ocean view room and saw whales and dolphins from our balcony several times during our visit. The staff is a definite plus! The gift shop offers sundries and gift items with some of the best customer service on Kona. The number one thing that brought me back a second time was the outstanding Don’s Mai Tai Bar and Restaurant! They offer delicious meals all day! We ate breakfast, lunch, or dinner each day - and the cocktails were beautiful and delicious.

    underwhelmed

The location of restaurant is great!!! The views are wonderful....the staff is helpful, kind, and courteous ...It's just that they have a new cook and a new menu and that ain't so good. My sister who lives on the island loves this place, BUT she even said "What happened?" When we left I mentioned to some people who were near the place that I didn't think the food was that good...they said that they had the smash burger the day before and it was raw.... They may have changed their menu by now, they may have even changed their new cook....who knows? I'm sure my siter will go again, but not soon.

    Great customer service

I want to give a "shout out" to Ann at the front desk. When we arrived, there was a reservation issue. Ann was able to work around the glitch and get us an open room. With out her being able to resolve this, we would not have been able to stay at the Royal Kona as planned. All this with a smile on her face. Thank you Ann.
