Very nice place to stay
We booked this hotel thru Costco travel. It is on the West side, north of Lahaina and just north of Whalers Village (shopping center). The hotel was clean and the staff helpful. We were on the 6th floor and I would recommend that, or higher, for great views. We could watch the sunset every night from the beach or our balcony. We did have noise (music/drums) from the on-site luau every night from 5:30 to 8 pm. We ate the breakfast buffet one morning. It was expensive and not good. I have had better at a Holiday Inn for free. You can get a decent light breakfast on-site at the Royal Scoop. They have ice cream and some sandwich items available, as well as sodas, coffee and pastries. Or walk to the hotel next door to Castaway Cafe. Much better food. We did not eat at the hotel for any other meals, choosing to try different locations on the island. They have two pools, which we did not use, but looked good. We preferred the ocean! They have beach towels available to borrow and a place to rinse salt and sand off when you come up from the beach. Not too far north up the beach (you could walk it), there is great snorkeling. There is a spa which we also did not use. They have complimentary sunscreen and lotion and water bottle fill stations. You can rent beach chairs and umbrellas but they are expensive (I recommend Snorkel Store or Boss Frog instead) I found the bed comfortably and the air conditioning was quiet. There is a safe in the room and a fridge (which was not listed as an amenity). The room also had body wash, shampoo, conditioner and lotion dispensers. The only thing I felt was lacking was a few hooks to hang things on to dry. Parking is extra, $40 a night when we went. Overall we had an excellent stay and enjoyed ourselves. It was super relaxing (and not crowded) to just sit on the beach and listen to the surf.

Amazing hotel
Beautiful hotel! Lovely staff, Stacey in particular was super friendly and catered to all our needs by going above and beyond! Definitely recommend :)

Beware
We sweated 4 days straight profusely due to the AC not working properly! Food in restaurant was horrible! We ate there 1 day for breakfast and never again!

Average.
We were a bit disappointed with the Royal Lahaina. Our check-in experience was less than ideal. We arrived at approximately 3:15 p.m. to a lackluster greeting. We were informed that our room would not be ready until 4 p.m. There was no offer of accommodation, just a reminder from the front desk clerk that the check-in time was 4 p.m. (I felt like I was being scolded for daring to arrive before 4 p.m.) At 4 p.m. on the dot, I approached the counter. Our room was not ready but several others who had been waiting were promptly assigned rooms. I was told that our room was held up until the housekeeping manager could inspect it. The entire check-in process lacked customer service. We were finally in the room by 4:30. I had paid extra for an ocean front room and our room overlooked the parking lot and the building that houses the spa. Yes, I could clearly see the ocean but the view was similar to an obstructed view at a play or concert. I let it go. Overall, the rooms were ok. I understand that housekeepers are in short supply. I would flag down a staff member for clean towels and coffee and she was very pleasant and accommodating. The pool area and beach are lovely. Get out there early and stake your claim for a bench in the shade if you so desire. It gets crowded at the pool. The outdoor bar staff were great - nice polite young people at the towel service. We did not care for the restaurant. We had the buffet breakfast once and it was of very poor quality so we did not return to the restaurant. Gael at the concierge desk was great and helped us schedule some excursions. I wish I could provide a better overall review.
