What a wonderful week!
We returned home yesterday from 7 days at the resort (to a whopper of a snow storm, but I digress) and we're already planning on returning. Our stay at Sandos Caracol was outstanding. Like many, we read the reviews and were nervous but we ended up having nothing to be worried about. The rooms are big, beautiful and cleaned daily. The food was so good and we definitely were never left hungry. We are not RE, and we still managed to get bookings for all 6 nights at a la cartes and tried every restaurant. The Brazilian and the Teppanyaki were our favourite. The drinks poolside in the Select Club were great, as was the food. Big shout out to our incredible poolside server Guadalupe. She was the highlight of our visit and by the end of the week, we left like we had made a friend. I was sad to think we couldn't say goodbye before we left but then she saw us dragging our suitcases on the way to the lobby and I got a hug in before we left. The people here are incredibly kind and hard working and yes sometimes things can be slow like check in. The line was long but go grab yourself a drink, chat with the people in line and the time will pass before you know it. Neither of us got sick and we were never without hot water. Just be sure to pack really good walking shoes! We logged 10-15k steps a day because the resort is massive but that also means there's lots to explore. 7 days simply wasn't enough time to enjoy everything that the resort had to offer so I guess we'll just have to come back!

Fantastic time !!!
I must say I do NOT understand the negative reviews about this resort ! It was amazing ! I guess it all depends what you are looking for , but we were 100 percent happy we chose sandos caracol . Like every resort it has its strong points and lacking aspects but the good far outweighs the bad . The jungle setting is amazing with the vegetation and wildlife . There was endless activities and entertainment. I must say I have travelled a lot and the shows were superior ! !!! The food was very good and we ate at all the buffets and à la carts and never ever got sick )despite the other reviews . It was difficult at the beginning to book à la carts but once told the openings to book don’t open till after midnight each night we were able to book all of them by the end of our stay . Japanese , Brazilian , Mediterranean and steak house all fabulous. Staff/service was amazing . Only negatives but NOT deal breakers was the long wait to check in and the beach had big rocks in places under the water which made it hard to navigate when windy . Also the rooms are a bit dated and but clean and we did not go to Mexico to be in room a lot . Also another note , we did the chichen itza tour , which was a MUST SEE ! Amazing ancient history .

Keep an open mind, it's not the Four Seasons.
Be open minded, be fair when reviewing this resort. I've read a few reviews on here that are simply harsh. I don't have a financial stake in this resort, but giving 1 star reviews because of hard beds and wishing you could leave is a bit much. It's a vacation in a foreign country, keep an open mind, understand that you've booked a vacation at a 4, possibly 3 star resort, it's not the Four Seasons, it's a family resort geared to offering a close to nature experience. Is it perfect, no, but I think a little less drama and a bit more focus on being on vacation is what's needed for the negative people. Want a 5 star luxury experience, book a resort that is 5 star

Hard pass - beyond uncomfortable experience
I’m here now and, for the first time ever on a vacation, wishing I could just leave (and it’s just even been a full 48 hours. The staff are nice and the grounds are fine with critters here and there, however what’s unforgivable is the state of the select rooms (adults-only side). The beds and pillows are so brutally uncomfortable… They make the Tower of London sound lux! I honestly had no clue they made mattresses this uncomfortable. I asked multiple times and multiple people for a topper which they said was coming but never did. The pillows are lumpy and thick. These are the double rooms. My friends have king rooms and the beds are much better (we compared). I legit can’t wait for this “vacation” to end.
