Terrible hotel
Extremely disappointing stay at the Sands. This is not my first time here and the property and service have significantly declined. The rooms are disgusting, old, dirty. The have double beds and don’t advertise that so you think your getting a king size bed. Very misleading. Everything is very worn down, chairs, towels, linens. When you ask for help or a question they look at you like why are you bothering me. Explained my disappointment with the front desk who told me I can go to another hotel if I would like. I have recommended this hotel to many people and will no longer come back or recommend. Very poor service and price. Be ware and don’t stay here.

Very Nice ... Except for ...
Pros: > Fantastic location [the BEACH, other eateries, groceries, golf, etc.] > Very nice accommodations [comfortable beds, seating, lounge chairs, palapas, umbrellas -- of course, there are the selfish guests that plop their belongs to "reserve" them allllll day, used or not > Lovely, lush grounds, beautiful lighting at night > Nice layout [was in two-bed, 2 bath, corner unit with view of beach and glorious water] > again, cannot beat the proximity to the gorgeous Grace Bay > Hemingway's restaurant a HUGE bonus! Never had a bad meal, serve local brewery beers, too, and are delicious; cocktails were well-made > ample, free parking > very nice to have an ice machine available to the guests [rather rare on the islands lodging choices] > three different types of "pools" wading, winding river pool, and hot tub with timer [at end farthest end from Grace Bay] Cons: > No security at parking lot entrance, never saw any persons that resembled security from the resort on the beach > Need maintenance staff that has some skill in repairs, as insufficient or incorrect within the units > Pools need to be repaired for cracked tiles, etc. and cleaned of mold > Groundskeepers and cleaning staff, need to be respectful of the guests: observe "do not disturb" on door, do not demand to clean room because getting off work soon when customer requests one waits [my family was still using the bathrooms at 10 AM]; cleaning staff needs to be trained, as my socks were dark gray-brown [saw they use same brown water from room to room], refrigerator was just eewwww, mold in showers grounds workers blowing debris on patios, parked vehicles; expecting the guests to work, eat around them, blocking sidewalks with equipment [including just shovels], resting on hammocks, etc. > helpful to have elevator but possible to perhaps vent it and clean it? > address problem for sewer gas smells [too often], > ran out of hot water most of the time > front desk should contact guests when water will shut off [two mornings, no water; the second time, had to fill the few pots in the unit in order to flush toilets ... no, it was not a short outage]

In one word...paradise!
We had a very relaxing stay at The Sands last month. We booked a 2B/2B. We were pleasantly surprised to see the balcony is fully netted to keep the bugs out. We were able to eat meals there and enjoy the view. The customer service was outstanding. We had a small housekeeping issue and the manager , Glaidyra responded with grace and professionalism and that will not be forgotten. Also special shout out to front desk staff and Halisha who was so pleasant and knowledgeable.

Horrible experience at The Sands
We booked The Sands for our babymoon and it was a complete disaster. There is a hotel being built right next door, with nonstop hammering, banging, and sawing all day long — impossible to relax. We were never made aware of this construction, and management showed no sympathy, no hospitality, and gave us no solutions. They refused to transfer us to one of their sister properties and instead of working with us on a resolution, The Sands wanted to keep our 3-night deposit and told us there was nothing they could do regarding the situation. Do not stay here, especially while construction is ongoing. We ended up leaving and paying out of pocket for the Ritz, which was the complete opposite — peaceful, welcoming, and professional. 10/10 recommend the Ritz over this hotel any day!

Terrible time as massive construction right next doors. Loud banging throughout the day and just not what you want on va
Construction on site next to the Sands. Loud banging and pollution. Terrible time To go to this resort. Poor customer service. Inspite of booking an ocean room it was not what was given to us.
