4th visit was the best yet - maybe more popsicles and less noice!
We spent two weeks at Secrets in late November (including US Thanksgiving). We have always liked the property and its excellent dining options but this time, somehow, the atmosphere was better than ever. It was low occupancy to start with but obviously got busy over Thanksgiving, but even with high occupancy it never felt crowded and there was a very mature and chilled out crowd which made it a very pleasant place to be! 2 weeks of unbroken sunshine helped too! The dining options have always been good but overall I think have improved further (with one or two exceptions) - Market cafe breakfast is the best - we managed to be first in 12 days out of 14 and sitting outside as the sun came up is the only way to start the day. Even the Whales made an appearance to remind you of just how special this place is. The whole experience is capped off by the fabulous welcome you get from Liz - so cheerful and genuinely enthusiastic about the environment she is working in. I think Liz is a star in the making and worth investment from Hyatt as I suspect she can do much bigger jobs at this hotel. An excellent ambassador for the brand. Bordeaux - simply astonishing that a high volume hotel can put on a menu like this and do it well. Ivan and Ricardo treated us royally on our visit and we enjoyed their enthusiasm for us selecting a Mexican wine. The food is very rich however so in a 2 week period difficult to do more than one visit when you are starting to run out of steam at the back end of the stay! Blue Water - location, food, ambience - this restaurant has it all. It is a really clear offering and what you get is uncomplicated but delicious food. Sharing desserts are outstanding. Again, Katherine, Juan and Joan made our visits very special. Great place to watch fireworks (laid on by someone else's wedding!) from. Also a super lunch location when it doubles as the Beach Club in the day time - shout out to Paty who has been there for all our visits! El Patio & Himitsu - I put these together as I think they have both improved notably. The menus have been refined and the recipes for original dishes have been improved (Pad Thai is a big improvement). We did both twice and it is exceptional how well these restaurants perform given they have the pressure of both Dreams and Secrets on them. Our 2nd visit to El Patio was slammed with a huge party but even despite this Rosa, Carlos and the team managed to make you feel like a valued customer and never once did they let the quality of the food or experience drop (shout out to the kitchen as well as this must have been a very tough night). Octavio in Himitsu was an excellent waiter, again never letting standards slip even when under great pressure. Mezes - best seat in the house on the balcony. Feels like the menu is a little smaller than in previous years and was worried after visiting on our first night that the short rib and truffle mash had gone forever (not to worry - it is now in Blee Water!). That said plenty to choose from and Mallorcan Shrimp are my absolute favourite. Baclava - this is one recipe that appears to have been 'dumbed down'. Used to be loaded with cloves and other aromatics and dripping in honey. Felt more like a pistachio mille-feuille now - still nice but not what it once was? Nebiolo - new Italian on Dreams side. Lovely location and very stylish restaurant. Food was good but feels like they need to get the process worked out. We wanted one appetizer (for me) then a pizza and a pasta as mains. My wife's pasta came whilst I was eating my appetizer and they didn't start my pizza being cooked until my wife had finished her main. Link between the back kitchen and the front of house pizza oven seems to be the waiting staff and if they are busy it is very difficult for them to co-ordinate. Our waitress was lovely however and could see it going adrift so did her best to distract us with Wine refills! Olio - I think this has lost its way. Food was great but not sure what it is trying to be. Used to have quite a challenging (dare I say Avant Garde) fixed 6 course tasting menu. I think this would be tough to sell where you have large groups where you won't get consensus on wanting to eat all of it (even between my wife and I there was plenty we would not choose). To turn it in to an a la carte made sense but they seem to have kept some of the challenging dishes as appetizers and then just bolted steak and ribs on as mains. Food tasted great individually but just not clear what this restaurant wants to be - a real shame as it has the absolute best location in the hotel. Sports Bar - beer, wings, fries and football. What more could you ask for! Terrific. We had booked a preferred club room (which to be honest I hadn't realised!). With this we got butler services from the wonderful Rousse. We are really low maintenance (early breakfast, 11 hours by the pool drinking water, couple of sun downers, dinner at 7, bed by 9) so not sure we really gave Rousse the scope to do her thing. What was really nice though was to have someone super responsive who could answer questions for us without the need to traipse around reception. Rousse also organised a bottle of dry white wine for us in the room on a couple of occasions which was very much appreciated. The preferred club amenities however I think are a bit if a let down. GOHAN - this preferred club bar and sushi restaurant feels for all the world like a soulless airport lounge. Premium drinks are just things we could buy in a UK super market. The non preferred club areas of the hotel are all much nicer so I don't see the point of this - make it a cigar lounge! I would repurpose OLIO as the preferred club bar - lounge furniture, beautiful view - give it a real exclusive feel. 8th FLOOR POOL and BAR - whilst this is a nice idea the pools are unswimmable (cool off only) and the beds and brollies are very tightly packed in. Feels over crowded and as such is style over substance. Doesn't feel exclusive at all so we just didn't use it. ROOM - our room was 1415 and it has a nice extended terrace with table and chairs, plunge pool and loungers. The problem is we requested a quiet room and this one is adjacent to the Moon Deck which hosted weddings, corporate events and parties on 10 nights out of 14. It must be the noisiest room in the hotel so not sure whether someone has a sense of humour and tries to allocate you the opposite of any requests or whether they just think this is a great room with extra space without considering the noise. To be honest I suspect it is difficult to find a quiet room as there is a very high throughput of parties and weddings (stunning 3 day Indian wedding whilst we were there as well as a Sikh wedding which was the biggest party in town - very jealous we weren't invited!). Main pool - lovely spot and we managed to carve out our own bit if turf having the same loungers 14 days straight. Lots of scope to move the loungers around to find sun (or avoid it). Great service from Daniel, Luis, Eduardo and Antonio. Loved swapping fishing stories with Daniel and Luis. Pool concierges Sheyla and Maria were lovely. I am a 56 man but at heart I am a 6 year old boy and the popsicle delivery made my day - Hibiscus the best but the artisanal coconut and pineapple also a treat. Maria gave my wife and I miniature artwork she had produced herself which was very touching. Altogether a great stay and we will go back next year.

Perfect couples retreat.
This was an amazing resort. Clean. Fancy. The food was TOP SHELF! WOW- just delicious! We did find it was a great place for a couples trip, nice and mellow, but I would not recommend if you are looking for a party or active night life. Many said the beach was too rocky. We found it a lot of fun. Loved the waves. And it wasn't too hard on the feet or anything, you just had to watch for the reef. The action of it all was great. We also did a private dinner on the beach- which was so special. Not only delicious, but beautiful and very personal. The spa was beautiful. And rooms were spacious. The staff was attentive. We will definitely keep Secrets on our list of resorts to keep trying, and would return to this one. We opted for the Preferred upgrade, which I strongly recommend as the floor 8 pool was AMAZING.

Very Disappointing Stay – Cheap Practices, Poor Service, and Misleading Pricing
I’ve stayed at properties from this chain before and had good experiences, and even the Vallarta Bay location nearby is solid — but this specific Secrets Bahía Mita branch is on a completely different (and much worse) level. Several pools were closed, and even the open ones didn’t follow the posted hours. We were yelled at to leave the pool almost three hours early while quietly relaxing. Service throughout the resort was extremely slow; getting someone at the beach or pool often took over an hour. Drinks weren’t made with the bottles shown on the menu and instead used cheap liquor you could immediately taste. The food was also subpar — bland, repetitive, and far below what you’d expect for the price. Spa pricing felt misleading, with changing list prices and restrictions depending on what you asked for. And throughout the stay, we were constantly approached for upsells, making it hard to truly relax. What really stood out was the atmosphere among staff — many seemed frustrated or overworked, and you could hear them openly complaining to each other. It clearly reflects deeper management issues, because the entire resort feels focused on cutting corners rather than delivering a good guest experience. Overall, the location is beautiful, and this hotel should be great — but the way it’s currently run makes it one of the most disappointing stays I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend Secrets Bahía Mita until management seriously improves its operations.

Went for the wedding, got amazing views and service
Went here for a wedding. The staff were amazing and attentive. The room was clean and inviting. Room service was fairly prompt but the food was really good. The beach area was amazing and you could play volleyball or just rest/relax. The pool/bar areas were kept clean and tidy. Totally worth the amount for all inclusive.

The Best Resort Ever
If you are looking for a high end resort this is it. I can’t describe how much I enjoyed this resort. My family and friends were in awe of how gorgeous this place was. Very good food and the rooms were very nice. There was someone always available to get us drinks or food. We chose preferred club which gave us lots of extra bonuses. We were very well taken care of. I came here for my wedding and I could not have asked for a better place. Patricia made my wedding dreams come true. Would highly recommend.
