  Secrets costa rica

  A so so resort. Nothing to really complain about but nothing over the top. Have to say staff is great and eager to please. Shout-out to Thannya who found me out to return a phone left in coffee shop. Thank you. Would return but gonna require good pricing to make that happen. Beware if your not a good walker. Shuttles are abundant and quick but you still need to be mobile to some degree.

  Beautiful spot in Costa Rica

  Had a great trip with family. The resort was really beautiful, we had an ocean view room and it was amazing to wake up to.. Staff was extremely friendly, was really surprised when some remembered me and would go out of their way to say hello. Food was very good and they had a nice variety. Would definitely recommend.

  Great stay at Secrets Papagayo and great tours!!

  We had a wonderful stay at Secrets Papagayo. The resort is surrounded by beautiful tropical scenery and has a very peaceful vibe. The pools were never crowded, and dining was easy with no long waits, the Japanese restaurant was our favorite. The Barefoot Grill is a great lunch option, and the drinks were always fresh and well prepared. The staff truly make the difference friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. Evening shows were enjoyable and well done. We also wanted to explore beyond the resort, and Nexttripcr.com helped us arrange private tours and transportation. Everything was smooth and well organized, including La Leona Waterfall, Mega combo Adventure, fishing, and a visit to the Sloth Forest. Highly recommend both Secrets Papagayo and NextTripCR. Pura vida!

  The Team Exceeded my Expectations

  First time in Costa Rica, my family included 3 rooms. Although I travel quite a bit I haven't had the experience good or bad to spend the time to review. Air transat was a pleasure, the seats were comfortable, the team on the plane were kind. Check in seamless. Arrival in CR also seamless. I had reached out to the team at the secrets prior to review a few details that were imprtant to me and my family. I had the pleasure of meeting Alison de Jongh via email. She responded quickly and gave me all the information I requested. Alison continued to follow up and made sure we were having a great experience. She also was all over the property, working her magic. The property , a bit dated , however they make it up with the client service. It starts with the top as the say. The Director of the concierge Josue, This man was everywhere. He was on the beach bringing down chairs and towels, driving guests around the property, working in every part of the property. it was very evident that Josue and Alison take pride in what they do and also doing everything they can to make the experience a positive one. The Team in the buffet were also very kind , in particular Valeria whom went above and beyond to inquire and speak. to the bar staff to make a special drink. My husband drinks decafe, I guess that's not a big ask in CR, however they made sure he had a fresh cup and one team member remembered him before he had to ask. I was concerned about the size of the property, getting around, they really have a fabulous team for pick up and dropping off. never more then 5 minutes. This was peak time for them , and they managed to exceed my expectations. i would love to see some updates to the number of pool beach chairs. More service to the beach is needed for ordering drinks. Also the furniture around the property. The Hosts at the Italian restaurant might need further training with greeting and using other methods of denying the guests their requests. Another great experience was the Jose in sea side grill was also exceptional, another person who went out of his way to locate a wine my husband had the night before. the food was delicious, the quality was good. The service at the Asian fusion was also very good Christian and his kind eyes won us over . The Bar staff outside the Buffett restaurant was very good at making my drinks, always ensuring I had plenty of limes. I do hope they read this review and Alison recalls the gentlemen .. Jet Black Hair Elvis look.. Cons, not too many, The manager at the Seaside Grill on our last day was overwhelmed and was unable to manage our order in time prior to departing for the airport. We had 1.5 hours and also communicated this with him.. You had as many towels as you needed, very clean, the beach tour guys are lovely, no hassels. I would definitely return if the team is there. Not sure I would If the original team was not there.

  January Winter Escape

  We visited the Secrets resort the week of January 5. We enjoyed our time here and the beautiful weather. I have listed some of the pros and cons below. Cons We were in room 209 and it was like being on a highway from about 430am till 11pm. Portifino was our favorite restaurant but on the last night so many people cut through to go to the Himitsu where they should rope off where the patio is or people are constantly walking by. Our phone was not working in our room .Considering the hills a problem. Service at the bars was inconsistent especially when you saw large groups come in. Not enough chairs in pool area should place chairs and umbrellas in grass area. Pros Beautiful location Clean rooms Excellent Service at the restaurants with a special mention to Elloy at the buffet and Armondo at Portifino Special mention to Leo , Donald and Victor for bar service. Frank the Tank tours was amazing thank you Ernesto.
