Nov 16, 2025First timers with Secrets
This was our first experience with Secret's and it was much better than we expected. The pool was full most days so I would say make sure to get their early to get a chair and make sure to check back to your chair every 45 mins or security will take your items and claim they are are "lost and found". Overall the food was decent we have had better at other all inclusives. The spa staff was amazing! If you can afford to spend a little extra it is defintely worth a visit.

The resort is good , lovely views and a good selection of restaurants, unfortunately this resort seems very money orientated. The staff seem to expect tips for every service, the secrets box in the room doesn't work even when you have the do not disturb sign on the room as staff knock repeatedly on the door as they expect a tip. Bottles of wine at the restaurants are not less than £62 (often more expensive than Michelin star restaurants in my experience). At the oceana restaurant we received a very bad service where the waiter treated an expensive bottle of wine we had purchased like a cheap bottle of water and when I asked for parmesan cheese on my pasta he just tipped it onto my plate. It was noticed that the behaviour of a lot of the guests especially around the pool and bars was loud and obnoxious and not what we would expect at a 5 star resort meaning we had to avoid these areas during our stay after some bad experiences. On the first 2 days the coffee machine broke in our room and on the last 2 days the air conditioning stopped working due to a power fault in the building. There were a few private functions at the hotel during our stay some of which were loud and disruptive and also ment some areas of the hotel we had paid for were out of bounds effecting our experience during our stay. On a positive note Anthony at the Portofino provided an excellent service especially with his knowledge of the wines. Adriana also helped us with excellent restaurant booking services on 2 occasions, and the waitress service at the beach was the best outside service at the resort. The grounds are also very well kept and the beach area is well maintained and very peaceful.

Very Enjoyable
This really is a nice resort with amazing people taking care of you. Shout out to some that made our week fun... Axel, Del Mar, and Susana on the entertainment team. They are just the best and so much fun and enjoyable to chat with!! We also had some great servers by the pool... Leo took great care of us so wanted to mention him for sure. All in all, it is a great place to stay. We stayed here once before like 8 years ago and I remember the food being a little bit better then but no major complaints. If you don't get hung up on little things, you'll have a great time.

Secrets Resort - A diamond in the rough from my perspective
This trip was a blessing in disguise. We were originally booked to go to Jamaica, but Hurricane Melissa had other thoughts. Our travel agent, Bonnie Fox at TravelEnvy pulled an absolute rabbit out of her hat! At the last moment she got us air and accommodations to Cabo San Lucas Mexico staying at Secrets resort. What a beautiful experience we had! Property was super clean and safe. Staff was outstanding. Special shout-out to our newly adopted son Delmar. If you go, please make sure you meet Delmar. He is on the entertainment team and is fantastic at his job. He also spent some personal time with us giving us some insight to his background and upbringing in Mexico. Cant forget about Frankie who also was very dynamic and led a great water aerobics class. As mentioned everything exceeded our expectations. Only a couple of things to mention that need some help: 1. Do not allow people to eat nachos in the pool ( or any food for that matter). This is plain gross. 2. Our room A/C did not run while we were not in the room (understandable in Mexico). However the humidity got up to almost 77%, the room smelled musty and the sheets felt damp. 3. Don't have high expectations if you eat at the Market Cafe during the day. The food variety and quality is mediocre at best. However, in the evening they do have specialty suppers which were very good each time we tried them. Admittedly I was not very excited to go to Mexico for my vacation due to may different factors. I must say I was very pleasantly surprised with Cabo as well with Secrets. We will definitely go back.
