Jan 04, 2026Disorganized New Year’s Experience That Fell Short of Expectations
We stayed at Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta from December 30 through January 3 for a New Year’s getaway, and unfortunately the experience fell short across several areas. The in room experience felt outdated. Although the TV remote had a Netflix button, Netflix was not actually available. For a resort at this price point in 2025, this was surprising. On December 31, we were told at the Italian restaurant that no reservation was needed. Later that evening, multiple guests including us were turned away despite being told otherwise. That same night during New Year’s Eve dinner, we were never informed at check in that reservations were required. We arrived early and were seated, ordered drinks, then asked to move. After our food arrived, we were asked to move again. Being relocated twice after already being seated and served made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. Housekeeping was also inconsistent. On January 2, our room was not cleaned and water was not refilled until we asked three separate times. This stay was meant to be a relaxing New Year’s experience but felt disorganized, especially during such a high demand holiday period. I have shared this feedback directly with Hyatt as well and hope management takes it seriously.

Five Star Experience
Everything at Secrets was five Star, especially the service. My ocean view suite was amazing! Our butler, Jose, was attentive to our every need. Beautiful resort and beach, delicious food, five star service, you got to treat yourself to a week at Secrets Vallarta.

Not as calm as I desired
The number of times I was woken up despite having the “do not disturb” sign is unbelievable. I went there to relax, but I was woken up at 6:50 am by knocking on my door while staying at the preferred club. Other than a lack of peace, everything was great.

Great People, Not Up to UVC Standards
As a UVC member, I expected a more elevated level of service and curated experiences. Unfortunately, the property itself felt dated and in need of significant maintenance. Issues included scuffed walls, inadequate lighting, wet and poorly maintained pool bathrooms, and threadbare towels. While I anticipated longer wait times during a busy holiday period, the restaurant reservation process—particularly for the hibachi—was extremely disorganized and frustrating. The highlight of the week was the staff, especially at the Market Café and the pool. Cesar, with his traveling tequila bar, truly made a difference. He proactively asked how he could improve our stay, personally arranged a steak dinner, and went above and beyond to make us feel valued and special. His service was the standout of our trip. I will be returning to my other favorite Secrets. Not this one.
