Quick family getaway
The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We upgraded to the luxe rooms upon arrival, which was a great decision—the rooms were comfortable and well-maintained. Although the air conditioner worked the room still felt damp the entire stay. The main pool was under construction during our visit, but it’s good to see the resort investing in upgrades and modernization. Unfortunately, this meant the pool bar wasn’t available at the time. The food was surprisingly good! The buffet offered a nice variety of options with great flavor, and we enjoyed the Japanese and steakhouse restaurants—they were both decent and worth trying. The beach was beautiful with stunning views, though for about five out of seven days the water conditions weren’t safe for swimming due to the season. There are some rocks near the shore, so I’d recommend bringing water shoes. Overall, it was a relaxing and enjoyable stay, and it’s clear the resort is making improvements to keep things fresh.

Relaxing vacation
First time at this resort but not in Dominican I usually go to Punta Cana. The guest service staff was very helpful especially Melvin who helped me surprise my sister for her 25th Anniversary The amination team was great especially Skinny. The rooms were cleaned and we were in building 8 which is close to the main lobby and buffet. The only suggestion I would say is that they should another bar open especially in the lobby, the only place you can go for a drink after the shows and is the 24 hrs sports bar which has limited seats. For the price I paid it was good, the beach was clean and lots of chairs.

Worth The Price
Senator is a good resort for it's price. The grounds are immaculate. The service is great (as long as you know a little Spanish). It was very clean, messes were gotten to immediately. Beautiful beach that was clean as well. Housekeeping was amazing. It has a couple cheap things keeping it from being great though as an American traveler. I will list easy improvements. 1. Toilet Paper. It's 2 ply. Myself and other guests in our party all complained about this. You can't be a 5 star resort with this mess. 2. Food. Some of it was delicious, a lot of it was bad, the "sushi" especially. The biggest issue is everything that was deep fried was deep fried wayy to long. Just cut back on fry times. 3. Alcohol. It's very hard to get a drink that isn't a Pina colada slushy. At the end we were just ordering shots because the bartenders either didn't know how to make drinks or didn't have the ingredients. For instance ginger beer doesn't seem to exist. 4. Rooms. We were a party of 7. And had three types of rooms. Junior, luxury junior, and swim suite. The swim rooms are just luxury rooms with the semi private pool. It's worth it I think, the pool was nice. Luxury junior rooms were great, though our AC did go out on the very last morning. The junior rooms are out of control bad and need remodeling ASAP. Do not stay at a junior room. Plumbing issues, hot water issues, worn down rooms. Overall we all enjoyed our stay. I would give it 3.5/5.

I thought I was getting what was advertised
When I booked it was because of the beautiful rooms they advertised.. we did not get that. No problem tho cause I don’t complain about the rooms even if I didn’t get what I thought I was. I have read soo many reviews about the animation team but only ever encountered 2, monkey black and blacky and that was because they simply came to chat, which we thought was nice. Idk where they are allday but clearly not where we were lol 50 min drive from the airport, check in quick and simple. We were in building 800 so very close to everything. I have never seen a better laid out resort, it’s a perfect size and everything is close. Large pools but ugh, I was extremely disappointed in the cleanliness of the pools, and we’re here at low season! (Yes we’re still here, we leave soon) I have never been to a resort (and I have been to at least 25-30 all down south in different places) that didn’t provide can beer in the mini fridge, that was a disappointment for me. The beach, ugh again, never been to a resort where you actually NEED water shoes. I didn’t bring any but if you come, bring them! Very limited spots where it’s just sand. Staff? Amazing! All friendly and happy to be here! Never been to a resort where there’s no ashtrays either! Luckily on our first day, a couple overheard us looking for one and gave me a tin that was for mints previously, and it worked like a charm our whole week! Thank you!!! I have never been to a resort that only offers 2 a la carts, so that wasn’t cool. The buffet is the same every day, the last day I didn’t eat anything. My daughter loved the coffee shop, that was great. Lobby and grounds are beautiful and again, the best laid out resort I’d ever been to. If it wasn’t for the couple small things, I’d come back. One more thing.. as my daughter is giving me grief about writing about negative things, the air conditioner… if you’ve read the reviews about the AC in the rooms, they’re all true 😩 my 23 year old daughter was fine but as a 47 year old pre menaposL woman, I need AC and it was barely existent 😔 I do recommend this resort, but unfortunately I will not be back. Much love to all the hard working staff ❤️
