Uncaring management, marginal service at best.

We visited this resort based on previous acquaintances recommendation. They had gone pre-Covid. Apparently things have changed. The swim pool bar used to be adults only. Not anymore. There is a continuous parade of kids, swimming, and splashing and what should be an adult only setting. They even held events in this swim pool bar. These events include children. They even contradict their own policy. There is signage around this pool that states no diving. However, they held a belly flop contest in this pool. What kind of example does this set for anybody? I brought my displeasure to the management and they absolutely had no concern. There is a separate wing to the semester that is adult only. I specifically asked just to use the pool in that area and was told by no means could that happen. There is also the fact that you have a mini bar in your room. Ours would not get restocked unless we purposely found somebody in the hallway that’s able to restock the mini bar. I have never stayed in an all inclusive that made you do all the work. The selection for food and all of the non-buffet restaurants is very limited. We were served two meals that we couldn’t even eat. We had fish and chips in their tavern and it smelled like bleach. Totally uneditable. To their credit, though the Asian style restaurant was acceptable. This trip was a total waste of our money and our time. I could never recommend this resort to anyone, with or without children. Don’t waste your time or money.

    Racist, Disrespectful Entertainment Manager

The property itself has a perfect location, with beautiful beaches and truly great views that make for an amazing getaway. The setting is everything you could hope for in a vacation spot. Unfortunately, my experience on September 3, 2025, was overshadowed by very poor treatment from the entertainment manager, Matthew. When I and others at the pool bar suggested that Caribbean music be played to match the atmosphere, his response was, “This is not your backyard and we don’t take suggestions.” His dismissive and racially insensitive comment left me feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. It’s disappointing that such a wonderful location is being misrepresented by staff behavior that does not reflect hospitality or inclusivity. Management should address this issue to ensure all guests feel valued and respected.

    Run, don't walk, somewhere else!

Upon my arrival (my friend & I arrived separately), I was barely greeted by Sonijka who relayed no amenities to me but told me to refer to the sheet of paper she'd already given to my friend. I was told the room still wasn't ready but to find friend, as she should be somewhere around, I called her, she was in the room that "wasn't ready yet." We sought out food at the all inclusive resort around 4pm and the ONLY thing available was a hot dog/hamburger stand with a line wrapped around the pool. We were forced to go to the hamburger place across the street which of course wasn't a part of the resort. Our room was atrocious, the "garden view" was a bare rooftop with astro turf, the photos are complete deception! Your patio space is only separated from other rooms by planters which seemed like a security issue to me. Once we returned from dinner, the roof was soaked, who would want to sit out there? The headboard looked like it had been chewed by rats, the bathroom mirror looked like it had been shot up, the TV volume didn't work and there was a stench. We brought this to the attention of Chaz at the front desk and we were told that there were rooms available but we couldn't move until the next day, and to come back at 9-9:30am. We did and we were met with disdain from a young woman whose name I didn't get but she told us to come back after eleven to speak to the manager & we did. Jovahny, the manager was by far the kindest man we encountered this entire weekend. He listened to our gripes and told us to come back that afternoon and a new room would be available to us. He kept his word! We were moved from 483 to 544 and it made a world of difference. We now had a balcony and pool view. I will say the beds were really comfortable. The all inclusive is misleading because they were definitely skimping on refilling our fridge, rationing things. There were NO snacks! Food was not readily available but only at certain times. Room service was only available to folks on the 9th & 10th floor. We found out there was two other restaurants Sunday night, granted this was not necessarily their issue as we could've asked but everyone had been so unwelcoming thus far. We went to the tavern last night (Monday) and there were two patrons, no one acknowledged us for at least 5 min, only to be told they weren't serving food, only drinks, despite their being a kitchen and what appeared to be a chef! I had to go out of my way to get my transfer changed as I wasn't about to be sitting in the airport for hours. The phone in our room didn't work, any time you picked it up, there was just a busy signal. I actually called the front desk from my cell phone. Again, the front desk was unhelpful. Raj and Amaya acted as if I was disturbing their conversation when I asked to use the phone. Just FYI, this airport is only five minutes from the hotel. I'd never stay at this "resort" again. Other people at the resort said the same. I would like to say that there were a handful of nice people at this resort: Mechale at the pool bar, the bartender in the casino. Crystaly, Shenika and Omarian as well as Jamie at the Fontana restaurant which didn't allow hats and I thought that was really weird! Plus, it was literally a skip to watch the planes land. Look for the $2 cabs if you want to move around the island, just pay attention to what the signs in the windows say. Be advised they will let ppl on way past capacity lol

    Disappointing

Beauty of sonest ocean point is disappearing. Nice views . Start with the good. Rooms have descent. Cleansed and bar fridge stocked daily. Close to all amenities. Bad. Food used to be swesom Now close the bestvrestarajnt lava rock steak house .now Mexican.this killed the best place to eat. Most buffet style food always cold. Breakfast time long lined ups for eggs short staffed. Many days wait for eggs. restaurant for breaky for all resort. All other restaurants rate for the food 5 out of 10 account food always cold.. Booze.cheap stock feeling like tour in Cuba. Tv in room signals poor TV always freezing. Kids poor being restored accounted for all young kids in adult pool. Annoying at times kids crying and lack of supervisor from parents. Good Good location. Beach on a resort okay by ocean rough. Take a 10 minute walk to Mullet Bay and it's 500 percent nicer. Overall 4 th time at this resort and will not come back. Food very disappointing. Shame. Woth the stay for 1200 a week at best. Sorry gang

1st class resort that makes you feel special and welcomed.

I spent a week at the Sonesta and have to say this resort is one of the top on my list. The resort is so welcoming and I felt so special from the moment I checked in. My room is private, quiet and all that I had hoped for with a good view of the planes taking off and partial water view. The floor had a private area for grab and go sandwiches, snacks, water and coffees. I loved the veranda off this lounge area with the most comfy chairs and incredible views. It was perfect for my alone reading time. Overall, my room was clean. There seemed to be a bit of dust bunnies and hair due to nothing ever being moved and cleaned. Only cleaned around. I made sure to wear footwear of some sort. Towels were plentiful, a nice size and were soft. The bed was so comfy and I loved having a choice for pillows. The air worked perfectly. Major pluses: water pressure was incredible with plenty of hot water. Room had a clock radio alarm clock. I do not know why so many resorts are removing clocks!!! Mini fridge a plus, coffee maker and coffee another plus. Added bonus you rarely see anymore.....robes and slippers. CONS: I tried three different evenings to get room service. The phone line stayed busy the entire time I think. I never reached anyone. The Cantina Restaurant was delicious. HOWEVER, the waiter was just ok. He only spoke if he had to. I dined here two nights in a row----since I could not get room service. First night I ordered the carnitas tacos and asked for an order of rice and order of beans. I only got the rice....no beans. Second night, I ordered exact same thing except I STRESSED wanting the side of rice and beans. Waiter arrives with tacos and FRENCH FRIES! By now, I am too aggravated to deal with it and just ate the fries. (eye roll). The food at the buffet is good and is plenty to fill you up. The breakfast was delicious, but the omelet station stays busy unless you get there before everyone starts coming in. The bar made a great Pina Colada but straws are a thing of the past. The pool stays super crowded even as the seasons are changing. As does the beach so like all the other reviews state.......arrive early! I never did find the adult pool and no one to show me how to get there. The gift shop is cute and has many necessities but it is a little pricey. All in all, almost everyone was super nice and friendly although I did encounter 3-4 staff members that need to be told the definition of the words professional and friendly. Overall, I am giving 5 stars. Great location, friendly people overall, MOST of the staff takes very good care of the guests, overall is very clean. I enjoyed it enough to say I will definitely be returning.
