Generally very good, some improvements needed
Overall a lovely hotel, beach is beautiful, a really nice feeling around the whole resort. Staff in the main are friendly and helpful. Arrival: I arrived at approx 1pm alone as the rest of my party were flying in later in the day. Reception was busy there did not seem to be any rush to check people in. Room was not ready, given that the hotel was only at I believe approx 60% capacity and many had already checked out I don’t understand how a number of rooms cannot be available for those that you know are arriving at that time? I had to wait until 4 on the dot for the room, even when I asked at 15:50 I was told no, it wasn’t a great welcome after a long flight. Food Reef: excellent selection, the quality is exceptional. Colin’s: very mixed service, it seemed that the staff couldn’t really be bothered, slow at taking orders / not that friendly. Also plates of food left on the tables and there are A LOT of pigeons that were then on the tables eating the food. Also they seem very ‘tight’ with the food, so if you ask for the grilled fish and the fried chicken you get one very small piece of fish and one very small chicken drumstick / thigh. We always seemed to have to ask for more! UMI: food was good, first time we had a 20:00 booking and we felt rushed out, as others had left. The waiting staff were super keen to clear our glasses and plates away whilst we were still eating. It just seemed that they wanted to go home, but this was only around 21:30! The 2nd time was much better. Sizzle: I had read mixed reviews for here. On arrival we were told that there were no tables outside for a 3 and we had to sit inside, there were quite evidently tables outside. Inside is very hot! Our service was not great, the waitress was very domineering, took our food order when we had not even been asked for drinks. Food was average, we struggled to understand how non guests would choose to visit & pay for this restaurant. Drink: good cocktails, drinks do appear watered down as no one is ever even tipsy! Cleanliness Our room was generally clean, but I did have to speak to reception as it was quite evident our bathroom wasn’t being cleaned as well it should have been. I also spoke to reception as on more than one occasion dirty plates etc were on the table at the bottom of our stairwell for over 2 days, I don’t understand how numerous staff can walk past these items and not clear them away, they are unsightly and also not very hygienic. The block we were in (over looking the swimming pool) is in need of an upgrade. Beach A lovely beach, always got a lounger, some mornings there were no towels available as still being laundered. But we just took our towels up each night and changed them every few days. One of the only hotels I have been to where staff do not do an end of day / early morning beach and sunbed tidy up, quite often we would come down to dirty glasses from the day before by the sunbeds, yes the guests should be clearing those but I know this could also be reduced by guests returning glasses to bar / putting in bin, but sadly some guests just do not do this! Staff should be following up and making sure all is clean, tidy and safe for the next day? The beach staff are very keen to take your umbrella away, we were asked as early as 3pm if they could remove it. Karma Spa: I had a massage pre booked but I asked if I could also add on the free 10mins and this was all amended ahead of the booking. Really lovely massage. Excursions: hotel booked us a car and that was all very straight forward and resonable. We visited the animal flower cave which was really good. Cool runnings catermeran trip was great, we booked direct with them. QP bistro for dinner was lovely, taxis easily organised by reception. Overall we had a great time at Sugar Bay, but there are some very small things that could be improved that would make it exceptional.

The most wonderful time
My husband and I went to Sugar Bay this past week and we had the absolute best time! This all inclusive resort really is all inclusive. The food was great, the drinks were great, the people were absolutely wonderful, honestly! Such sweet human beings. We felt so comfortable there. They had kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boarding, and provide umbrellas and chairs and even hammocks. I mean it was great! When we stayed they had a movie night on the beach and that was so nice listening to the waves and watching a movie. The location of this hotel is also situated so well. They had entertainment at night and it was just a relaxing time. so pretty too. The concierge was also so helpful and easy to book excursions. We saw monkeys, fish, crabs and even a baby sea turtle making its way to the sea! They also have a few well taken care of kitties on the property. They also have this swing tucked away at the back corner of the resort that is perfect for sunset photos. The weather was pretty hot and humid, but it is summertime and the beach and pool provided us with the cool down we needed. Sugar Bay provided my husband and I the absolute most relaxing and wonderful time and we highly recommend to anyone!

The Sugar Bay experience
Sugar Bay Barbados. What a Brilliant,Wonderful, Fantastic place to be on holiday We booked with TUI and everything they said was true. Location, Food, Staff, Weather and Entertainment are wonderful. Very helpful, welcoming and friendly local people made our time there a holiday to remember. We went all inclusive and we were spoiled by what's on offer and also by the staff who are making sure you are ok or if you want anything to eat or drink. What impressed me is the staff seem genuinely helpful and they are not just doing their job. I know they are doing theie job but there concerns are not intrusive. The staff are aware we are there on holiday so it is all done respectfully which is nice. Sugar Bay Resort is situated in the Garrison area and close to George Washington House and Barbados Museum and Historical Society. They are about a 10 to 15 minute walk from Sugar Bay, just past the Racetrack. Highly recommend both if you are interested in local history. We also went on quite a few trips. We went on the Cat and Fiddle Catamaran cruise and lunch tour. Had a great relaxing time with beautiful views along the way and the food and drink are very high standard. lovely crew as well. We also went to Harrisons Cave and Mount Gay rum tasting Experience. All great things to do and see a lot more of beautiful Barbados. The entertainment at Sugar Bay is quite impressive with a varied selection of local talent. Very enjoyable and good sound and vision quality. Retuning to Sugar Bay Resort is now on my list of things do in the near future. Highly recommended place to be to unwind and enjoy. I shall definitely be going back. Thank you Sugar Bay and TUI.

Did not exceed my expectations
Came with a family of 7 , 5 adults , 2 children. We were greeted with a rum punch at check in, nice and strong , like all their drinks during the week. Check in is at 4pm, and they mean precisely 4pm. We were given no instruction on anything at check in. Not where towels are, where restaurants are or any other information. It would be helpful if they took a moment at the front desk to explain things to people. My favorite drink was the tropical infusion. Best and friendliest bartenders were at the swim up bar in pool. The food was good. Nice variety at the buffet for lunch and dinner . Could use more variety at breakfast (too much carb filled foods). We loved the a la carte restaurants, Umi and Sizzle ( could only book 2 restaurants the 7 days there , other days were buffet). Colin's was another option for lunch. Pigeons are all over the place . Room was clean and all the staff were very pleasant. Each night they had singers next to the bar. Only one night did they have a show. I would suggest more entertainment, daytime and evening . We did see quite a few monkeys on the property while we were there. Bring your water shoes, the beach is rocky . There are waves , but not crazy ones. Its not a calm beach if thats what youre looking for. We took the local bus to bridgetown, did some souvenir shopping (i advise getting what you need here or the resort gift shop. I found the items limited at the airport ) and had rotis at chefettes. We also followed the group at the resort to see the horses on pebbles beach at 6am. For a $20 tip you can take a pic on the horse . We also visited the George washington house , but I didnt find it worth $20 admission . My husband has mobility issues so they accommodated a room close to the pool. I accidently locked us out of room leaving through porch for less walking for my husband. They provided me with a key to porch door , which helped save him some walking instead of walking all the way to the front door. Prices at the resort gift shop was a lot cheaper than items at the airport, but less variety of course. We hired a car to pick us up from airport for $70 us (7 people ). Last advice, beware of their ice cream machine . I got sprayed all over with ice cream when it malfunctioned . Reach out to Mike on WhatsApp, order Mike's rum punch. You won't regret it. Would I return to sugar bay? Most likely not.
