    Over priced and under delivered.

First the positives: - It’s a beautiful resort in a beautiful setting - Saltwood restaurant is fantastic with great food and service - Our butler was lovely. Super kind and took great care of us - The catamaran excursion arranged with Mystic Man tours was awesome. The rest: - Many excursions were disappointing. The zip lines were underwhelming (though the guides were a ton of fun). The ATV excursion did not do most things advertised (consuming, no waterfalls, no shopping) and took us to a trash filled beach with people smoking weed - Service at all restaurants besides Saltwood was extremely slow. At breakfast, if you don’t do the buffet, it feels like they penalize you with really long wait times. Jalouise and Bonte were also slow. At Bonte, our children had a lunch where they were seemingly purposefully ignored as tables were seated, fed, and departed after our children arrived and before their food was delivered. - We had to continually push for the under 16 discounts as the staff would not apply them to meals. - Jetty Bar was routinely out of fries - the only side on the menu We had a lovely time in St Lucia. Viceroy Sugar Beach did not live up to its cost or billing. For what you spend here, you can likely get better service and value somewhere else.

The best place to relax and switch off with family

Wow wow wow. We booked this trip quite late due to a change in circumstances and we couldn’t be happier with our choice of hotel. Sugar beach was everything we hoped for and more. We booked a beach front room by the Italian restaurant on the pond sandy beach and it was literally heaven. The service was amazing and because we did Ed to go all inclusive the staff got to know my habits and at 4pm every day a bottle of rose appeared with tub of ice! All the restaurants were brilliant. Even the buffet was like no other I’d been too, We’d had some personal issues going on so to get away and forget everything was just the best place to be. Thank you sugar beach. If you want to find out about all my family travels then please do follow me on instagram @littlebeanies_travel. I have two boys currently 8&10 and we live a holiday so please follow along.

A Memorable Family Getaway at Sugar Beach

We just returned from a fantastic 5-night stay at Sugar Beach, and our experience exceeded expectations. Traveling with my wife and two kids (ages 11 and 15), we stayed in one of the Grand Villas, and it was perfect for our family. The villa was spacious, spotless, and featured a large patio with a private plunge pool, offering stunning views of the Pitons and a nice partial view of the ocean. The villa’s privacy and peaceful surroundings made it feel like a true retreat. The resort’s location is simply spectacular, tucked right between the iconic Pitons with a beautiful beach and crystal-clear water. The entire staff was warm, attentive, and always ready to help. One of the highlights of our trip was the SNUBA and Discover Scuba Diving experiences led by Elijah, the dive instructor. He was phenomenal, patient, friendly, and incredibly skilled. He made the experience both fun and safe for all of us. My son even booked an extra dive with him, which speaks volumes. Elijah also helped capture incredible underwater photos and videos using a waterproof scuba case we had brought along for our phone. We also had a private half-day boat tour to Marigot Bay, which was another standout. Seeing the island from the water was a unique and memorable experience. The crew, who were also the amazing instructors from the Sugar Beach dive shop, were friendly, knowledgeable, and made the trip even more enjoyable. The tour included a stop at a beautiful snorkeling spot, which was a great bonus. While Marigot Bay itself was scenic, we didn’t find much to do there beyond having lunch, but it was still a nice place to stop and relax for a bit. The amenities and service at Sugar Beach are top-notch, offering a true five-star experience in one of the most beautiful and unique locations in the Caribbean. The shuttle system around the resort was efficient and necessary, especially for us staying in the higher-up 700 section. While it did make getting around a bit less convenient at times, especially with kids on different schedules, but it was worth it for the views and privacy. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be the dining. Breakfast was excellent and included with the stay, which we appreciated. For lunch, Jetty Burgers was easily our favorite. Dinner, while generally good, was consistently overpriced for what was served. We mostly ate at Bonte and Jalousie Grill, but we didn’t try Saltwood, so can't comment there. Since there aren’t many off-resort options nearby, dining at the resort is often the default. That said, one evening my wife and I went to Dasheene at Ladera (just a 10-minute taxi ride) for dinner. The food and pricing were a bit more reasonable, but the real draw was the breathtaking view overlooking Sugar Beach and the Pitons. Overall, we had an amazing stay at Sugar Beach. The combination of its world-class setting, excellent service, and well-maintained accommodations makes it a destination we’d absolutely recommend and hope to return to.

    A Five-Star Stay

Sugar Beach more than lived up to the hype. The grounds are stunning -- tucked between the Pitons with clean lines, lush greenery, and a beach that looks like it was pulled from a movie set. Everything is well-kept without feeling overly manicured. It’s the kind of place where you can unwind without trying too hard. The staff were excellent across the board -- friendly, professional, and always a step ahead. No attitude, no overdoing it -- just solid, consistent service that made things easy. The food was top-tier. Fresh seafood, great jerk chicken, solid breakfasts, and cocktails that didn’t disappoint. Whether it was lunch at the beach grill or dinner at Saltwood, everything hit the mark. And then there’s Gary, our butler. Guy was a machine—in the best way. He handled every request, anticipated needs before we even brought them up, and kept things smooth without hovering. Professional, low-key, and dependable. He made a great trip even better. If you're looking for a place that nails luxury without being over-the-top, Sugar Beach delivers. We would go back in a heartbeat.

    The location is tops!

The location, as well as the property, is unique and stunning. They really have a special place here. The sights and sounds, you will not forget. Service was excellent. We stayed in a three bedroom residence with pool, which more than met my expectations. This is a five star resort and they charge accordingly. I’ve traveled to the Caribbean for a long time. This is the type of resort you get to one day stay at. If you’re staying here, you’ve made a financial commitment to staying at a place on the Earth, that is simply breathtaking. While I’m sure a guest can nitpick and find something that wasn’t perfect, this resort is very well dialed in. Guests were a mix of families and honeymooners/young couples. The beach, which technically is public, is and will be accessible by day tripper that come to take in the view of the Pitons. I didn’t see this as a big deal. This property is basically built into the side of the mountain, which means there are very few level places. Guests are reliant for the most part on the shuttle system which generally works pretty well. My sense is most guests dine on property, so reservations are super important. Off property does offer some local choices. We rented a car, which I would not recommend unless you are accustomed to driving in the Caribbean, and left side of the road driving. If you are comfortable, rent a jeep, driving around is a blast. This resort is worth your holiday.
