Apr 29, 2025Disappointing Stay - Not worth the cost.
We recently stayed at Sunscape Resort in Puerto Vallarta with extended family, including young children and grandparents. While we enjoyed the sunshine and beach, the resort experience left much to be desired—especially considering it was the most expensive stay we've had in the area. Upon arrival, the concierge introduced us to the property and handed out some coupons, but immediately shifted focus to pushing a membership breakfast we politely declined multiple times. Despite our refusal, we were approached repeatedly throughout our stay, making it uncomfortable and awkward. The dining experience was underwhelming. We could usually find something acceptable to eat, but no one in our group was ever excited about meal times. Service in the dining areas was inconsistent—on multiple occasions, we had full meals without being asked for drink orders. The World Café lacked variety, especially for international travelers and families. Despite being advertised, kid-friendly options like french fries were rarely available. We even encountered bird droppings on chairs at dinner several times. That said, Mario and Enrique at the pool bar were a highlight—friendly, attentive, and excellent at what they do. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the norm. On several occasions, we watched other guests (often local) be served ahead of us at the bar despite waiting in line. Rooms were clean and housekeeping staff did a good job with towels and upkeep. However, the resort is clearly in need of maintenance. The main pool is missing tiles, which made walking uncomfortable. We also noticed broken tiles along the stair edges and deck, along with worn paint in public areas. The Seaside Grill, while conveniently located by the pool, was loud and chaotic during meals. Coco Café offered tasty baked goods, but the coffee was often cold and the bottled water was warm—

Apr 26, 2025SERVICE EXCEPTIONAL, FOOD HORRIBLE
*We were a Party of 8* The ENTIRE Service Staff was exceptional. My poolside waiter Miguel was super helpful & kept our cups filled, including the virgin drinks for the kids. There was also a Miguel at the Main Restaurant who was also very attentive. I'm a bigger guy so after the 1st day when they saw I was uncomfortable in the chairs at the table they replaced it with a more comfortable chair for me and everyday after as soon as they saw my family checking in to be seated the chair was switched before we even arrived at our table. The Bartenders at The Rendezvous Bar were great too. Not just the standout names mentioned but ALL STAFF went above and beyond to make my entire Family feel like VIP's. The reason I rated a 3 is because UNFORTUNATELY the food was absolute trash besides maybe a handful of items. The Room Service wings & Chicken Burrito, Omelet station, fresh tortilla Quesadillas & maybe 2-3 more items were good. But besides that everything was unseasoned and barely edible. Sad because it was my parents 1st time in Puerto Vallarta only for them to have this subpar experience.

The experience from start to finish was fantastic! The food was incredible with a variety of options, including salad bar each meal. Sergio from entertainment brought so much liveliness to the activities and excitement for the kids. Sandy was so sweet in Explorers’ Club for the kids, and Pedro was the most amazing server, anticipating our needs and going above and beyond the call of service. The resort quiets down after the evening shows by 9:45, and the shows especially the Fire show are a must see! In peak season, the chairs fill up fast by the pool but most days we purchased an umbrella and chairs right at the ocean from a vendor. I highly recommend booking a fishing trip, ask for Francisco on the beach. We caught Bonita and YellowTail, such an incredible experience. All in all, 5 stars!

Wonderful Experience-Great food. Lovely staff. Amazing beaches and super fun pool
Fantastic resort! Upon arrival we were a bit worried because our check-in was a bit scattered, but our opinions quickly changed once we were settled. Food was amazing, rooms were huge with turn down service every night. Entertainment was amazing each night with Aldo being absolutely outstanding with his entertaining abilities. Resort is a bit dated, but you manage to look past all that once you see the restaurants that are offered and the friendly staff always smiling and offering to assist.

Great family vacation. Good location, variety of food options. Staff is very helpful and polite. Building is old but is what we expected for the price. At check in avoid the vacation club pressure for free breakfast and activities it is a three hour sales pitch. Overall we were very happy with our stay. All ages had fun.
