Property and food is great! Customer service needs improvement.

Arrived Oct 21st. The resort is beautiful having the chance to check out the property while we wait for check in at 1500. Got welcome drinks upon arrival which was very nice. Upon getting our room, we received a room with a single bed even if we reserved a double. Staff were quick to call house keeping to do adjustments but didn't really separate the beds. Upon dinner time, there's only 1 option to go to, but was surprised that guests need a reservation to eat. Seems like they don't have capacity for the number of guests they have for the restaurant option available. Host at the restaurant pointed us to a restaurant 10 mins away instead. Waited for about an hour for the dinner place but after that, we just opted to have sushi at the bar. When we arrived at our room after dinner we made sure to make a reservation for the next night for dinner. Come the next evening, I called front desk to confirm our reservation for that evening an hour before scheduled. I was informed they don't have it. After explaining to them that we called the front desk the evening before to.make sure we had a reservation, the receptionist made sure to us that they can accommodate us for our original scheduled dinner. We went to the restaurant 10 minutes prior our scheduled reservation and again, the host there told us we didn't have a reservation. I explained again that we made the reservation the night prior and they kept on insisting we didn't. Finally I told them to talk to front desk and ask them. They were told we made the reservation only an hour ago and because of that, we can only be put on the waiting list. I told them it wasn't acceptable since we made the reservation the night prior. The host tried her best and finally after 30 minutes of going back and forth, someone didn't show up for their reservation and we took their spot. Although some staff are extremely helpful,,, others seem like they couldn't care less. Shame that this property has a lot of potential but keep on getting misses in regards to hospitality. All in all, property is really nice. Food is great! But customer service needs major improvements.

Extremely beautiful resort and room, average service

The resort is absolutely gorgeous, you can tell they put a lot of thought into the construction and landscape of everything. However the service at breakfast and in the VIP area was lacking. Took forever to get our orders or even a staff member to help us.

    heavenly beach w/ hellish management

I went here with family to celebrate my birthday & honestly, it was pretty great all things considered. the beach is ethereal and incredibly clean. there are a few caveats. firstly, if you can please stay in the suites: the view is amazing and there is a refreshing mini pool on your balcony. if you are staying in the suites you get these amazing cushioned sun loungers by the beach. if you are staying in the other rooms, they are not renovated & they are in a heavily 'forested' portion of the hotel, which basically means there are a million bugs. the chairs that correspond to these rooms by the beach are not great either. Staff is either incredibly kind or immensely off-putting. Unfortunately, I did contract food poisoning here, which wasn't a huge deal honestly. The manager did ask me if I had food poisoning, and when I responded with yes, he insisted that no one has ever had such a thing here, insinuating that I was lying. I am not sure why I was being gaslit by a hotel manager, but oh well. most important thing you should know before going here is that they have this makeshift club that blasts music for hours every night, which kind of kills the whole I am here to relax vibe. I wouldn't go back for the hotel service, but the beach here is so marvelous if you can tolerate the other nonsense it's worth it !

Disappointing Stay at Kontiki - Smelly rooms & loud parties!!

We had high expectations for Hotel Kontiki given the pictures, the atmosphere and the prices they charge. Unfortunately, the reality was very different. From the very beginning, our room smelled strongly of urine and sewage. Staff acknowledged the issue and tried to “fix” it with tablets in the siphon, but the smell always came back – sometimes weaker, sometimes stronger, but never gone. After coming back from the beach and wanting to shower, it was especially unpleasant to be hit by that odor. This was not only our problem – my brothers and their wives had the exact same issue in their rooms. We all reported it on the very first day. Management told us the hotel was fully booked and there was no chance to change rooms until the next day. When the “repair” attempt didn’t help, one of the rooms was moved to a different category. The other two rooms were just about tolerable with the smell – but honestly, no hotel room should ever smell like this in the first place. What makes it worse is that many past reviews already mentioned the same problem, so this is clearly not a new or isolated issue. The upgraded room was a newly built apartment – bigger, with two bedrooms (both with air conditioning), but cheaply furnished in pure IKEA style. The kitchen and living room had no AC at all, which made those areas uncomfortably hot. To make things worse, the AC in one of the bedrooms was dripping strongly throughout the night – it kept running, but the constant dripping made it very unpleasant. Management then moved them into the neighboring apartment, but by that point they were so disappointed with the so-called “upgrade” that they stayed there only for the night and moved back to one of the old red-and-black rooms the next day. Even though the upgrade had been offered at a reduced rate due to the previous problems, it simply wasn’t worth the money. Management later apologized once more and offered us a complimentary dinner show. The food was free, but drinks were still charged – not exactly a great way to make up for all the trouble. As for our own room: the musty smell, visible dust, and rusty nails sticking out of the terrace door (which actually injured my wife before they were finally fixed) were completely unacceptable. After our first complaint about the odor, workers came into the bathroom but left the floor mat filthy with their shoes. The air conditioning was dripping as well, though we only noticed that at the end of our stay. The pillows were ridiculously small and square – more like couch cushions than hotel pillows – and sleeping on them was uncomfortable at best. Noise was another major issue. Whenever there were beach events, the music in our room was so loud it felt like we were right at the party. Events and music themselves would be fine if guests were informed in advance – but it cannot be acceptable that it is so loud you cannot even try to sleep at 10 pm. Three out of five nights we couldn’t sleep before midnight, and on Thursday there was even a massive firework right next to the hotel. Without earplugs, it is nearly impossible to sleep here. On top of that, the rooms are poorly insulated – you constantly hear neighbors talking, walking, or anyone passing by outside. We had even considered booking the more expensive “better” suites closer to the beach, which were significantly more costly and right next to the noise. Had we taken those, I would have been absolutely furious. On a smaller note: towels were replaced daily and looked clean, but when smelling them closely they had a funky, musty odor – likely from the laundry service. Not unbearable, but certainly not pleasant either. It’s honestly a pity, because the natural setting and the pools between the houses could have great potential. But between the odors, maintenance problems, noise, lack of comfort and the disappointing way management handled issues, the experience was far from what was promised. They officially hold 4 stars, they try to act like 5, but in reality it often feels closer to 2–3.

    Best hotel on Curacao

We had a fantastic stay at this location. The resort is very central and on one of the island's best beaches. However, you don't feel crowded once you finally arrive. I haven't found a place on the island that was as green as this resort. They have spacious apartments with beautiful views that feel truly luxurious, yet also provide a sense of tranquility.
